Product Description
The Zayak Sea Sled works great in Fresh Water or Salt Water, Rivers, Lakes, Gulfs, Bays, Oceans and Tidal Pools; any Clear Water Venue is a great place for the ZAYAK Sea Sled. Whether you witness the undersea environment with your own two eyes, or use an underwater camera to record the 'Features and Creatures' below, you will quickly "see what you've been missing". Many people who aren't comfortable with scuba diving or snorkeling find that they are much more comfortable on a Rigid-and-Stable Platform that allows them a Wide-Angle Panoramic View of the Underwater-Environment without the use of a Leaky-Mask or a 'Death-Grip' on a Mouthpiece. Most people find that they can use the ZAYAK for hours and still not even get their hair wet. The Basic A-1 Model has a recommended weight limit of 220 Lbs. (100 KG) and comes with a Clear Panoramic Window; a Vented Neoprene 'Dry'-Mask that Blocks-Out Ambient-Light for Better-Underwater-Viewing. The Ergonomically-Designed ZAYAK Sea Sled provides you with your own 'Glass Bottom Boat' to study Marine Life, look for Sea Shells, Lobsters, Scallops and more. There are provisions for Hanging-a-Baited-Line from the bottom of the ZAYAK Sea Sled so that you can Photograph the Fish that come to Nibble-and-Feed. Made from Durable Highly Visible Yellow Molded Plastic with an Acrylic Viewing Window, you will get years of Water Fun with the ZAYAK Sea Sled. The Sea Sled is equipped with Handles on the Front-End for a Stable Ride. Made in the USA.Features

Good version 1.0 Productby Michael L Buckland (3 out of 5 stars)

I had my new Zayak out today for the first time. It seemed like a good idea, but the product wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped.
First the good parts.
1> The clear glass window is really good for seeing what's below you. For people who just can't bring themselves to put on a snorkel mask this may be a good substitute.
2> It's also a good float to swim from as a base for snorkeling. Put your dive flag on it as well as drinks and several people can come and go while snorkeling.
Now the issues:
1> There was a little insert in the package that said to keep water out of the viewing area and to stand up the Zayak to drain the water out. That's easier said than done. I weigh about 180 lbs (max weight is 220) but my body weight was continually weighing it down so water entered the bottom of the viewing area. Usually there was about 2 inches of water standing in it.
2> A second issue was the left-right stability. I never actually rolled over with it, but was on the verge several times. It needs to be a couple of inches wider to prevent this.
3> A third issue was that the Zayak takes on water. It's made of hollow plastic and leaks. There's a drain to let the water out, but the first time I used it I noticed that the Zayak was heavier on the way back from the lake than it was on the way. The problem was that it was about a quarter full of water. Be sure to drain it every hour or so or it loses its buoyancy.
But the experience wasn't entirely bad. There may be a niche for the Zayak if they can engineer out a couple of the issues. Right now it feels like just what it is -- a new product that still has some engineering issues to solve. I hope they get there.

This is awesome for people who don't like masks or are unable to use them. It's like having your own little glass bottom boat. Heavy and bulky.
Previously Used

We just arrived in Florida for our vacation with family and I've opened the box to find that it has been previously used. It is scratched up and has marks all over it. It even has sand on it. This item is expensive and I certainly expected it to be new and nice.

I tried one out yesterday. The view was good and I had no trouble with water in the viewing area, contrary to the other reviewer. A little bit of fogging though, but then it was very humid and raining a little bit in high temperatures (Antilles, tropics). I weigh about a 145 pounds. I had a slight tendency to slip off the thing backward. A bit of antislip on the area you are lying on would be a good idea.
I found the thing pretty unhandy to carry to and from the sea. Later I saw the plug and thought may be you can let in some water to adjust it to your weight a little so it feels more stable.
For someone who can easily manage a snorkle it is not an improvement, but for people who are not able to snorkle conventionally it might be a solution.
GREAT SNORKELING WITHOUT A MASK

Great new product. Nothing like it on the market. I loved the experience of snorkeling without a mouth piece and leaky mask.
