I'm cooking in officeby T Stanley (5 out of 5 stars)

Loving this thing. I bought 2. Mainly so I could test meals at home to ensure they are office worthy. There aren't many sites in the web about this so I was hoping I'd like it but it works great for reheating.
I was only eating salads at work because of microwave lines. I took a chance and glad I did. I leave the outer container and the heating assembly in office and carry the covered tin back and forth in my lunch box.
The container holds 3.5 cups and replacement tins are unavailable. The good news is that the older style container is 3 cups and works perfectly in this. I bought both types and I never use the old style - I don't care for carrying the cord. If I had nowhere to stash the cord assembly at work, the older might work better. It is overall smaller. The tins on both are the same height but the older style is a smudge more narrow so there is a tiny gap. In use the results are the same.
These only get to about 175 degrees in my testing so they will only cook fish like salmon well. They aren't hot enough for chicken or beef - they are designed to only reheat. If given about 3 hours, this will cook frozen vegetables to barely tender crisp stage but no further. Reheating from frozen takes about 2 hours or so. A can of progresso soup is about as hot as I can eat it in 2 hours - perfect for soups. I haven't found anything in a can that doesn't work well. I've emptied microve meals into this with mixed success. Some rices and noodles will absorb too much liquid in 2 hours making sauces a bit thick. Others come out great. Some I can't get to break up to fit in a tin. I cut a sub sandwich in half, removed veggies and stuffed in this and it came out GREAT! I tried a dried soup mix designed to boil in a pan. The contents cooked but the liquid didn't thicken. I plan on trying again and with some masa added - we shall see.
Excellent, really really worth it

This has to be one of my best purchases ever. I use it in the office almost every day for almost four years now. I came back with this review to let everyone know that:
It is good as new, after years of constant use. I wash the inner pot almost daily, sometimes in the dishwasher and it is still in perfect condition.
I never had a spill or malfunction of any kind.
Food is always perfectly warmed up, it really doesn't take more than 1 hour, or even less depending on the food.
Never ever had a smell while warming up. Great for office use. No one will even know it's there.
I should mention that i only carry the inner pot back and forth and leave all the rest at the office. I think it is much more convenient. Many times I carry it in my handbag, inside some waterproof lunch bag or even a sturdy nylon bag. The shape is really convenient for that.
To conclude, five stars are really not enough for this little gem.
lasted only 3 months. (EDIT)

this lasted only 3 months. it won't switch on now. all of a sudden, it just won't light up. i would expect this to last for a minimum of at least one year. only got a few days over 3 months. not sure if i would buy this again...or could be a defective heating element? at the very least, its not all that expensive, but neither are most crock pots. i like this purely for its size and its convenient. the larger ones are too big.
UPDATE: Since I liked the size and the removable insert, I ended up buying another one. The second unit has lasted over 6 months with usage of twice to three times a week. It is still going strong. The first one may have been defective from the manufacturer. The upside is, I now have two inserts with lids that I can swap back and forth. Maybe they should sell it this way or offer to sell the insert and lid separately for those that use it a lot. Oh, another part I like about this unit is that there's no fussy temperature control. It's simple with and on and off button and that's it. On other crock pots, sometimes I forget to adjust the temperature and it's lukewarm...not knowing how high or how low to set it.
So best parts...
1) removable inser with lid
2) compact size
3) perfect temperature without a variable setting

I really like being able to warm my food up right at my desk, and not having to wait in line to use one of the few microwaves in the lunchroom. I've only had my Crock-Pot Lunch Crock for a week. I usually eat lunch out three times a week; I've used the Lunch Crock three times, so far. I liked how my beans and wieners heated up, without exploding the beans as sometimes happens in the microwave. They also retained more of the "juice", so were more pleasant to eat. One day, I bought Thai food to go. As I don't get home until late one day a week, I put some of the Thai food (rice, pork and pineapple curry, and a few chicken wings on top) into the Crock-Pot when I got back to my office, and had a nice hot dinner, with the chicken moist and practically falling off the bones, before heading off to an evening meeting. I could almost be persuaded to give this five stars. However, the food cools too quickly for my liking when the pot is taken off the power base. I solved this problem by keeping the unit on the base and powered, while I eat. It would also be nice to have more than one power level, but this unit WILL warm your food well. I'd also like to be able to buy extra inserts (inner pot and lid), so that I could prepare food for several meals, and just carry the filled inserts to work, bringing the empties home to run through the dishwasher and be ready to refill.
One of my most favorite purchases!

I am so in love with this item!!!!! I have already purchased one for one of my daughters as a birthday gift and she loves hers too! Here at work there are 3 of us that have them in 3 different styles and though they each love theirs I love this one the most. Easy to clean. I can leave the base at work and take the purple part home to fill with whatever I bring and then I just walk in, set it on the base and spin. Light comes on and it starts heating.
3-4 hours and your soup is hot! I also will microwave a sweet potato at home for 4 minutes put it in the pot until lunch, 3 to 4 hours and I have a nice hot, soft, baked potato ready to eat!
Highly recommend this item!!!!
Great for heating up leftovers

This is the newer model of the other mini crock pot I have. The pot is actually bigger than it looks; I've filled it with rice and other items and have trouble eating it all at times. Also make sure not to fill the pot all the way to the top, leave about half an inch or so (there should be a line inside). This is perfect for me to heat up my leftover as lunch or dinner. I'd ask my husband to put turn the pot on for me while I drive home and by the time I get home and freshen up, dinner's ready! This is meant to be used to reheat food, not to cook food. The only thing is that the inside lid (the one over the metal pot) tend to pop up while the older model stay put much better. It's not so bad that it'll spill the food and what not, but just be careful when you try to take the food out as there might be hot steam escaping or hot steam water leaking out. I love this so much that I bought my mom one.

Went on a trip recently and the hotel we were staying in had no microwaves in the rooms, just downstairs in the main lobby area. This was perfect! It actually was BETTER than a microwave because of the way the food tasted. Example: We went to a restaurant and had leftovers by the time we wanted to re-heat the food, it was late and we had the crockpot!. It was beef and noodles it was hot in 13 minutes.

I don't like to use microwaves... I especially don't like to use the caked on food, nasty microwave at work. This has solved all my problems. I plug in the lunch crock when I get to work and by lunch time the food is perfectly reheated without getting to hot or overcooking my meal. When it is time for lunch I am able to remove the crock from is heating base and go to the lunch room. The base detaches so I leave that at work and do not have to keep bringing it to and from work. There is also an insert in the crock that comes out for super easy cleaning.
Great concept, design flaws

While I love the concept of this lunch Crock Pot, there are a couple issues that immediately became evident.
First, the outer lid. It looks sleek, but it is very difficult to grip, especially if you have wet hands. The plastic sloping sides of the handle give you nothing to firmly grasp in order to remove. I would add a lip at the top edge or some kind of texture so you can really get hold of it.
Secondly, the inner liner lid does not seat firmly and give a good seal. It just doesn't fit right, even straight out of the box. I definitely won't trust this not to spill during transport. Also, it's difficult to remove without having to put your fingers on the inner metal liner, which is hot during use. This is a complaint I've read on many previous reviews, so I know that it isn't just a one-off problem. Seems it should have been addressed by now.
I haven't had it long enough to determine durability, etc., but it appears to work as promised. The cord length is just right for my desktop at work, since I have a power bar on top of my desk and didn't have to find an outlet underneath. It would probably be too short otherwise.
All in all I'm happy enough with the product to overlook the minor lid inconveniences.

This product arrived on time in good condition the product actually does work it warms up the food but one downfall on this product is it does not warm up your food like other lunchbox food warmer where you pour little bit of water into the unit before you put the container where you put your food in where it activates like a steam warmer This product does not do that you cannot put any type of liquid inside the unit before you put the food container in the unit it takes a lot longer for your food to warm up It takes an hour or two to really warm up your food especially if it's coming from the fridge with this product compared to other products that works with steam I might end up returning this product and also be mindful that even though on Amazon website it says that it's a deluxe edition yes it is a deluxe edition but most likely what I know of is the word deluxe means bigger but it's actually kind of the same size as other food Warmer product
Works great but came with minor deficit.

My crock pot arrived in the expected delivery window and works great. It's much nicer than the older version since it has an on/off switch and detachable base. I've used it for both soup and regular food (chicken/veggies/rice) and it did a great job warming up both types of food. I usually turn it on about an hour before I want to eat and the food is nice and hot.
I took a star off because mine has minor scratching/damage on the front. It wasn't bad enough that I was willing to pay to send it back, however I can't help but be annoyed every time I see it. It was a bit pricey to have a cosmetic deficit right on the front.
The defect was caused during manufacturing and not due to the seller or shipping method.
