Tons of fun on the lake - in depth review and tips

First use: This raft is huge (just as you would expect in the picture) and it will draw a lot of attention before you even air it up. Using a 12V DC pump, it took about 15-20 minutes to fill it up the main air bladder. The remaining sections are cake. You are going to need a serious pump here -- don't try to blow it up yourself or hand pump it. However, we found that a hand pump to top if it off at the end is probably a good idea to avoid over-inflating. You will need several adults to haul it out into the water once you inflate it.

We had 4 fit adults and 6 kids on this raft during its peak use. We were careful to calculate the maximum weight (1370 lbs) to avoid any problems. The float maintained its structure more than i expected. While slightly flexible, it was very strong and did not bow inward in the middle.

There are two zip close coolers at the front. They hold quite a bit of payload. We threw a cell phone and a bluetooth speaker into a water tight bag and dropped it in one of the coolers. No need to buy a model with speakers built in. The other cooler kept drinks cold. It appears to be designed very similar to other vinyl insulated coolers.

You can actually fit a kid or two on the back end of this (its sort of a little inflatable ladder float that allows easy onboard and offboard in the water). The bucket seats are also very big and can fit two kids. The mesh at the bottom of the bucket seats can actually support the weight of a walking adult (shocked again) so we had a couple kids who liked to play in here without any issues.

You can paddle around a lake very easily in this float. The trick is to have two people paddle in each of the lounge chairs. Once you get moving, you can get this float to cruise around 1-2 knots, which i think is pretty reasonable for a relaxing stroll around the lake.

There are several handles and tie downs around this unit. We did not use the anchor, but it looked very functional.

It may sound dorky, but do not forget life vests. We had them on the adults and kids, and when we reached the center of the lake, some of us jumped in for a nice relaxing float. And of course, there is the entire safety aspect of being on an inflatable in the middle of the lake.

We had zero air pressure problems this time around, and it deflated very quickly. You are left with a mass of vinyl that is much larger than the factory packaging, but we will just have to deal with it.

EDIT: We have had this for almost a year now. It appears that the seller is selling something slightly different than what we bought, but still the same brand. It is holding air nicely and able to take abuse from multiple jumping kids. I did accidentally lose the anchor at sea, but that was more my fault!

Very Large and Nice - But Lots of Air Needed
by MelissaM (5 out of 5 stars)

The floating island is very large and can easily sit more than 6 people. It was much bigger than we expected. Unless you have a second garage, you will have to deflate this to store it.

The material is heavy duty and seems quite durable. The couch areas are surprisingly comfortable and the foot area between the two couches is a mesh that allows your feet to dip into the water. The rest of the island is "dry" and is not in contact with the water, making this suitable for floating in colder water. The coolers are real coolers and contain an insulated lining (they are not just holes in the raft). The island comes with an "anchor bag" and there are a couple of handles that you can use to tie it to a dock or other area. This island would be great for floating down a lazy river.

This takes a lot of air to fill so make sure you have a proper air compressor. We used a medium-sized air compressor and it took 30-45 minutes (once we got the air compressor end properly fitted) to inflate the whole thing. It would easily take a couple of hours to do this with the small pump that you use to inflate air mattresses. The idea of blowing this up manually or using a hand pump is a non-starter.

Fun to have for all!!!

The kids have enjoyed this floating island immensely this summer at the lake. It allows them to get away from all of the adults when everyone is out on the shore, plus in our case we were able to anchor it out where more sunlight could be caught as the sun moved from directly over our area. Seems to be holding up well.

I spent money on nice repair kits

Do not buy this! It was a rip off..it tore on a seam on the first day..with in 15 min of use. We tried to repair it, since we were on vacation for 10 days. I spent money on nice repair kits, for it only to rip in other places. Not a good investment and they would not refund me unless new and still in box!

Not happy at all

I took the new island to a family reunion on a lake. Even if I never use it again I'm very pleased with how well it was used seven straight days with out having to add an additional air.

Pretty awesome product but after 3 or 4 uses it has two holes in it. Not very fun to lug this onto a boat and up the dock when its half full of water.

Inflated it for our large gathering on Labor Day Weekend. After placing it into the water, before we even got to use it, we discovered that one of the loungers would not maintain pressure. There is a leak somewhere. Too large, to cumbersome and now, too wet and sandy to return. Hopefully we can find the hole and repair..., but a major disappointment.

Inconvenient
by briar (1 out of 5 stars)

I received this item last week. Went to use it for the first time and at the seam in the corner by the mesh there is a small hole/separation. Causing the island to deflate. I am not very happy seeings we didn't even get to use it and have to send it back. Then to top it off to send it back to get a new one it's a additional $60 dollars in shipping at my expense. Which I feel I should not have to pay because it was delivered to me defective. This is my second island in the last 5 years and I am disappointed in the inconvenience! There should be something done about this issue.
