Good light for police officers
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
July 3, 2015

I got this light for my body camera and for when I'm having to do reports. As you can see from the pic, it clips on to my ballistic vest where I can easily turn it on turn it off or change it over to the red light. It's very bright and does what it's supposed to do.

My only issue is the cap that protects the usb is a little annoying, but it's easy to over come.

Update -07-08-15

I know, we all wonder about how well a product is going to work. How bright is it? is it functional? I have added new pics I have take with my body cam, the first one was taken with my cell phone. As you can tell there is three pics. One is with low light setting looking at a fire hydrant, on bright setting looking at a fire hydrant, and then set on the red light function... The cool thing is that on red, it has a dimmer setting and a bright as well.

Though it looks a little silly, and I as I was called "iron man" the other night (which made me laugh) the suspect was fully lit up, and the area was too. I cannot tell you how good of an investment this was.

Seems to NEVER need Recharge
by Lumpy (5 out of 5 stars)
September 30, 2018

I wish I had this gizmo when I was a cop and a paramedic. Now I'm an old, retired guy. I clip this little light onto my belt-clip tool pouch. Weighs almost nothing. Allows dim or bright light directed wherever I want it. If walking around my suburban Phoenix ranch at night, Scorpion hunting, the light shines down, on my foot path. If I need to examine/fix/mess with something (Horse, circuit breaker, GFI etc) I can simply twist the goose neck around. I pretty much use the two WHITE light levels exclusively. I don't use the red light.

Most amazing, I've owned this thing for over 2 years. I've used it for probably 20 minutes EVERY night during that 2 years. I've NEVER recharged it after the initial USB charge. Freaky great battery life. Either that or the lamp design draws such low current it doesn't drain the charge.

Suggestion for Improvement:
Make the metal clip re-mountable to either side so that the gooseneck can come off either the L or R side of the main part of the device. Allows the user to clip it onto the right or left part of your belt/uniform/vest etc.

Thanks - Lumpy

Darn near perfect
by Kindle Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
December 14, 2018

I don't write many reviews, but I needed to share my impression of this light.

I have been using this on the job for nearly 9 months, and I love it. As a Police Officer in a small mountain town and working the night shift, I need light all the time. On the low setting, this little light provides the perfect amount of light to fill in a report or ticket and not ruin my night vision. On the high setting it leaves my hands free while explaining a ticket to the public..

I also use on the low setting it to walk around at night because my town has a very limited number of street lights and it gives me enough light to see where I am going without having to use my duty light.

I usually charge it every two weeks, so I have never had it die between charges. It clips onto my uniform shirt and I tuck the light in when not in use. I know other officers who have admired this light have also made the purchase.

Weak bezel plastic holding in the lens and reflector.
by t_a_l_sd (2 out of 5 stars)
August 22, 2015

Just un-packaged mine and immediately noticed the plastic bezel that holds the lens and the reflector in is cracked / broken all the way through. The lens and reflector simply fall out.

I'm sending it back and will try again with a replacement. If you have one of these, keep an eye on the bezel. The day may come when you need to hit the reflector and lens with some superglue to keep it all together. Bezel seems like cheap, weak plastic.

Expected a higher quality build from Streamlight. Nevertheless, the light seems like a good idea.

A must for night shift
by Matthew K Hansen (5 out of 5 stars)

This light has made my job much easier. I wear tactical polo's with bilateral mic pockets; the light clip fits easily into these mic pockets. I work night shift as a paramedic. When walking into dark areas or working on patients in low light areas, this light provides sufficient enough light to get the job done. In the past I would hold my flashlight under my armpit or between my neck and shoulder; this was a burden. The light is easy to use and charge. I normally use it on the brightest setting and only use the white light. I have had the light about 1.5 months and have only charged it twice. HELPFUL HINT: The light will plug into the USB (not micro USB) charger both ways, but only when the red light turns on is it charging; picture is attached.

Strong battery life, flex neck is a little fragile
by D. Jenne (4 out of 5 stars)
April 10, 2019

I owned this for a year before the flexible neck gave out. At first, the plastic that held it in place broke, causing the LED to swing loosely instead of being able to be fixed in the desired position. Finally, it gave up the rest of the way, and now no longer works.

However, a year at this price should not be a barrier against buying it. It's not incredibly bright, but the battery life is fantastic. At times, I started to wonder whether it needed charging at all. The red light settings are perfect for low-light conditions when you don't want to ruin your night vision or bother other people. It's compact, can work well as a reading light, and the clip is very convenient. I've never bought a better, more versatile light for so little money. If you want something really durable, perhaps you could look elsewhere, but for most of us, this is a great buy.

Wow

Several light modes. Beats the hell out of having to stuff a flashlight under your armpit at night.

UPDATE 10/9/18:

I have been using this guy for over a year now. I wear it in my uniform pocket on a daily basis and to be honest don't use it that often. Regardless, the minimal usage allows me to not have to charge it for extended periods. I usually charge it every four months and it has yet to die on me when called upon.

The main reason I wanted to update this review though was a really stupid mistake. I accidentally put the unit (with my shirt) through the wash AND the dryer. I realized my mistake and thought I had created a $40 paperweight... wrong. Thing still works like a champ on all modes and didn't even miss a beat. I wouldn't recommend trying this, but it is good to know that this device really does stand up to the workmanship that the Streamlight brand has built for itself.

I will certainly be a repeat buyer when the time comes.

Great light, a must have for officers/deputies
by Nate (5 out of 5 stars)
September 27, 2019

I've had this for 2 days now and have used it Both nights. I clip it inside my pocket on my shirt and string the light out of the top. Super easy to turn on/off and change colors. This is a must have for working in the dark, especially for the price. I used it on calls/traffic stops/and general use. It's nice when you don't want to turn on the red dome light above your head in the squad but still need some light. Also works well to have your hands free on calls/traffic. I still use the bigger flashlight but this little one takes away some of the trouble of trying to tuck a flashlight and write. I will stop back and update if I have issues with the bezel breaking as others seem to. Also I bought the version without the AC adapter. If you have a iPhone charger or anything that you can plus a USB into that will charge it.

Absolute home run of a product!
by 10-8outthegate (5 out of 5 stars)

This is an awesome product! As a LEO I work nights, rather than fumble with your flashlight during a citation or a quick search of a bag, I use this light. It's plenty bright enough to light up your cite book but not so bright as to create any tactical concerns for yourself.

It has a low and high mode and has the same with a red light option. The clip is strong and stays put on my shirt (I wear it above my speaker mic) and the batter life is excellent! It's been 2 weeks of continued intermittent use and still going strong!

Would easily fit in your shirt pockets if you don't already have tons of stuff in them. Another option is in the front of your vest where your trauma plate goes.

Don't wait, get one!

Worth every penny
by P-Mo (5 out of 5 stars)
September 25, 2019

I bought this light about 1 month ago. That's roughly (15) 12 hours shifts, 5PM-5AM AKA when it's dark outside. As a patrol cop, there are several times per shift that a hands-free light comes on handy. I've been pleasantly surprised with how bright this light is and, since it's so easy to charge, I just use the brightest setting each time. Charging the light is a breeze; I just plug it into the USB port on my laptop about once a week. The clip fits nicely into my exterior vest carrier, on a MOLLE loop. It's easy enough to take off/ put on but it doesn't come off when I run, etc. I've seen other officers who don't wear an exterior vest use the light too; they just clip it elsewhere like near the shoulder loop, etc. and it works just fine. Great light and utility for the money. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.

Good but one very significant flaw that will prevent me from buying it again until fixed.
by James G. (1 out of 5 stars)
December 21, 2018

The ability to move the light around with the flexible tube is great. The najor flaw that leads me to recommend you don't buy this product is the recharging design which is very unfortunate.

The charging design is a flimsy open piece that inserts into a usb slot on a computer for example. The flaw here is that this device is used by people who need durable equipment in field situations, IE military, police, other first responders. This charging insert is far too fragile. In my police car, i have a mobile data system and other things that you can plug such an insert into but one bump and it basically breaks. Ive had mine in the field for a few months now and the charging insert no longer works.

The fix:

You need just a regular charging wire like a smart phone would use.
