This also fits the Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone which is the same as the HD 598 with closed backs made just for Amazon (highly recommended!). I absolutely could not believe how much difference this cable made with a simple cell phone to headphone connection, skipping DAC, etc. Remember the headphone end has a "twist" lock, so don't try to just pull it out. Overall I am very, very pleased.

Edit: 02/20/2017 - how does one go about getting information on repairing or replacing under the 1 year warranty? I use this cord 100% at my desk and the tension relief spring has popped out? Still LOVE the sound of the cable so much that the 1.2m was just delivered for travel. The brown/red color goes amazingly well with the Sennheiser HD598 in Ivory. It goes well enough with the Sennheiser HD598cs in black, however it just looks like it was made to go with the ivory version.

Edit: 03/09/2017 - Seller replaced cable with 2nd day shipping. Could not ask for better service and the cables are great.

Death by flexion within months

These are the weakest headphone cables I've dealt with. The current one I've got has lasted about four months and the left side is now going out unless I hold the wire just right. And the same thing has happened to the past four or five of these cables I've bought. Steer clear.

These things LOOK tough! I've gone through 2 already, same issue. I bought this because it looked like a rugged upgrade from the basic black cable that came with the headphones (which lasted me about 2 years) for my Sennheiser DH 558.

I am pretty mobile, while im in the office so i like having the long 3 meter cord, my duaghter when she uses my computer bounces around on a yoga ball. this means sometimes the cable gets tugged on or twisted. after 2 years the original cable broke down internally and started only delivering audio to one ear.

This replacement cable i originally ordered in July and last about 5 months until it failed in a similar fashion; so i ordered a new one in February, I (maybe too quickly) blamed my daughter since being young she is more exuberant in her movement.. anyways this latest one has last less than 3 month before failing once again in a similar fashion, it seems the weak point is near the connector that plugs into the earcup. I have temporarially found that if i twist it slightly to put tension on the internal wires it will work...

These are advertised as upgrades and have the look of being more durable that the original, but my experience thus far has proven else wise, while i understand we put a bit more stress than some may be moving around we are also not yanking on the cord or deliberately twisting it or kinking is, nor are we putting weight on it even so much as suspending the headphones by the cord so i am really at a loss as to why this can't handle what the factory supplied cable withstood for 2 years

I bought this because the factory 1/4"(6.3mm) jack on my Sennheiser HD558's is too long and bulky with the factory 1/8"(3.5mm) adapter when used with my MP3 player.

I was pleasantly surprised by this cable and its quality. The 2.5mm plug that goes into the headphone jack fits perfect, twist-locking just like the factory one. The plug itself has a nice metal body that looks nice in the headphones. The braided cable is just the right length for sitting at a laptop or with a portable music device or smart phone. The business end of the cable is also a nice metal 1/8"(3.5mm) with a small spring strain relief.

I never expected this nice of a cable for this low price. And to top it off, the adapter to take it back up to the factory 1/4"(6.3mm) size screws on to

the cable nice and snug. I could see sitting at my stereo with this, although I'd need a longer cable, the opposite of my goal with this purchase.

A great buy if you have Sennheisers with the twist lock connector.

Soft tip that reduced and disturbed the sound quality

After using it for about 2 weeks, the "soft" tip of the connector does not fit well into the socket. As a result, the sound quality got disturbed wildly.

Pro:
-Quality of the wire is excellent.
-The color does not faded out.
-The connection toward the head phone are good with a great mechanic to attached it in.

Cons:
-The connection toward the head phone jack are easily bend. Therefore, this lead to missing left or right channel, noise or introduce different sound into the headphone.

I have bought these 2 times because i thought that It was my device that were doing these flaws. However, I have used other connection and they work without any problem like these one. Hope that they can fix it so i can have a good one rather than the easily broken one.

Cheap cable that gets the job done

It's funny that the name of the item implies that it's an "˜upgrade' from the Sennheiser cables. It's definitely not. You can feel how cheap the cable is just by holding it. Don't order this if you're looking for something that's as high quality as the original cables - because this isn't. The positive - and the reason I bought it - is that it's much shorter than the Sennheiser cable and it is 2.5mm to 3.5mm (while the original cable uses a bulky 3.5mm adapter). I bought Sennheiser headphones to use with my Switch, and this cable allows me to not have a giant adapter hanging off the top of my Switch. This cable does it's job, and is the only one of it's kind that I've been able to find - but it's not a high quality, well made cable - and I wonder how long it will last.

This is outstanding. So much better than then cable it came with my sennheiser 598. the complaint i have is that there is a reinforcement on the end that goes in the headphone plug to the phone part it is a spring basically, the idea is that if you move the cable around a lot the sprint supports the metal to the cable so it doesn't wear as quickly (most cables have these). My spring eventually slid out, and i couldn't get it back in, so i had to pull it off. That was with minimal usage. This is a minor design issue. No biggie, and the cable is still fine, but not perfect. Otherwise i really like the cable. So much better than what came with it very nice to have the fabric around the cable. Otherwise no issues very durable. It has held up for a year or so just fine, and looks and performs great. I can tell no difference between this and the cable that came with it other than this is the appropriate size. yes it is able to properly transfer electrons, and not be 10 feet and totally annoying.

Fits The Bill

I got this cable because my phone has some issues with the 3.5mm audio+mic cable that came with my headphones (Sennheiser 598 Cs). This cable works great for its intended use and price.

Here are my take-aways upon using this cable today:
- The spring at the input end provides nice protection against sharp bends, but is not a strain relief device
- The wiring is in a red cable surrounded by a black weaved plastic jacket. The detail is nice; however, don't think of this as a cloth cable.
- The cable is fairly flexible, but the plastic jacket causes the cable to try to straighten itself out. This means that if the cable is twisted, it will not lay flat.
- It was not clear to me in the overexposed pictures what the cable colors are. For reference, the connector tips are bright gold, the connector bodies are a dull gold (somewhere between gold and silver), and the cable is a black jacket over a red inner wire.
- Yes, the cable does lock in properly to the headphones
- Both cable tips have a nice, even gold plating. I can't tell how thick the plating is, but it appears very well-done.

Was looking for an premium quality 'Short' cable to replace my original Sennheiser cable which was way to dam long, that connected my headphones to my Schiit Magni-3 DAC. First off, the length is Perfect at 4Ft. I have my Headphone Dac/Pre-Amp "Schiit Stack" connected to my HD599 Headphones so they are nearly right next to each other. As for the quality is Superb. Its not like a braided material you see, but a Red Cable covered & protected with quality 'Tech-Flex" material which gives it, its flexibility & protection. At both end it has these Retention-Coils that help protect the cables from wear & tear, because that spot is where the cable is most stressed from acute bending, & with out it over the years can start to tear. As for the gold end connectors feel very premium and the 3.5mm Male end locks perfectly into my HD599's just as good as the stock Sennheiser cables it came with. The larger 6.35mm(Male) end screws onto the 3.5mm jack if you need it to plug into whichever DAC you choose. If your looking for an Shorter Premium Quality Cable to connect your Sennheiser's to your Dac, that are close to each other, I would highly consider this from New Fantasia, you most definitely not be disappointed in the all around quality if this cable.

A Great Replacement

I bought this braided cable at the 1.5m length to replace the 3m cable that comes with the Sennheiser HD 558, as it would tangle and get stuck under the wheels of my chair (and also required an adapter that had broken several times). This cable, as of writing (5/2018), is a perfect replacement. I'm in love with the fact that I no longer need an adapter to plug into the things that I'll be using.

The cable itself is wrapped in a braid of plastic cording, with metal ends. The plastic gives the cable a little rigidity, but not so much that it stays firm when bent. The first thing that I noticed when replacing my old cord was that you can notice the sound of the cable moving around on clothing when your headphones are on as a sort of interference, but it's so quiet that it's barely worth noting. I assume it's just because of the plastic mesh.

As per other reviewers concerns: I had no issue with the locking mechanism on my HD 558's, the cable just needs to be fully inserted and twisted as normal. I don't expect there to be much of an issue with the spring on the 3.5mm head as my set-up for these headphones means that there is no stress on it, but I can see how it could fail if you use your cord in a situation requiring more flexibility.
