Straps started to unravel after a month of useby Eddie (3 out of 5 stars)

Great product but the straps arent durable/strong enough and the seams started unraveling after a month of use. They need to fix this. Great features, looks sleek, and the grid is awesome but with all is said and done, this is a backpack, if the seams on arm strap start unraveling after a month of use, then it isnt much of a backpack and is pretty useless. I'm going to have it sowed back.
Straps are crap.

This backpack is a pretty big let down. I thought I would spend a few extra bucks to get a nicer backpack than my previous jansport. I got this at the end of January, and it's already starting to fall apart.
I saw this in some of the previous reviews, but hoped I would want to be one of the lucky ones who had it last for years. I guess I lost the lottery on that one.
Given that I didn't overpack the backpack, it's really disappointing and unacceptable for this to be happening already.
I actually love the look and feel of this backpack

The quality of the strap is really poor, but I actually love the look and feel of this backpack, which is why I am giving this two stars instead of one. I have owned two of the same backpack. The first time, the padding inserts in the right strap got twisted so there was this lumpy feeling. The second one I bought, the threading has already worn off and I have only owned it for 8 months. I really want to love this backpack, but I cannot recommend it with the strap issues.
It's just ok...

The Grid-it system is good ... the rest of the backpack not so much. It is simply too slim in the main compartment so once you put a laptop and a iPad in there there isn't much room left. I had difficulty fitting my Bose headphone case and the bag bulged uncomfortably into my back when I did. The quality of the bag is questionable with evidence of cost cutting and poor quality workmanship particularly in the stitching and straps. If it was a inch thicker in the main compartment and was made better it probably would be the best tech bag ever but as it is it's sadly just ok.
If you are looking for a tech bag, this should be high up on your list!

Awesome backpack, I love the slim design, sadly though the main reason I bought it was to be able to carry my portable 17in monitor with me along with my Spectre X2 and while it does hold it, there isn't the amount of protection I was looking for. Currently trying out both this and their 13in bag to see which one I like more.
Pros:
Huge grid, everything I use (or could use) daily fits neatly in it.
Fully loaded this bad boy lives up to its name of Slim
Perfect grab and go bag that shouldn't force you to go with out or need to be repacked depending on your day's activities
Meh:
The tablet storage is just a bit small for my Spectre and as such would be too small for a surface so it will float around in the laptop pocket, no fault of theirs it specifically stated 10in tablet, but in case you were wondering
Cons:
Main compartment is lacking, I desperately wish this had the same organization features as their 13in bag has, if it doesn't fit in the grid it'll end up floating around
The tablet and laptop storage is nice and padded but the other two interior pockets are just thin pieces of material, and are VERY loose, if you carry papers from time to time and was hoping just to slide them in its a no go with out some form of binder/folder
Suggestions to Cocoon
I would have gladly paid $20 more if both sides of the grid it pouch had the grids, or some other form of organization
Don't neglect the main compartment's organization, never underestimate the power of a couple small pouches and some pen loops
I can't comment on the longevity of the product, but will warn the canvas like exterior attracts everything and is a bear to keep clean
This could have been perfect BUT!!!

I purchased this bag in January 2019. I have used it for around maybe 10-17 days whenever I bring my equipment. I have had it for less than a month and decided to write a review about how I've used it and the outcomes to help future consumers.
Background: I am currently using this bag to carry my computer and accessories. I have a 16-17 inch computer-tablet that barely fits into the laptop holder length wise (it's not particularly thick), an extremely light and small keyboard, one or two one subject notebooks, and various smaller electronics and objects that fit nicely in the grid it organizer. My computer-tablet is the only notably heavy device in the bag at almost 5 pounds. The bag stays slim and is not overstuffed or handled roughly (for fear of damaging the equipment inside since the padding isn't amazing).
Pros: The slim profile is perfect. It looks great out of the box and not particularly flashy (good because you don't want to attract attention with a tech bag personally). The padding is fine for light weights. The grid it system is extremely convenient and the laptop and tablet compartments have a soft inner lining to prevent scratches. The waterproof zippers seem smooth enough and the top handle placement is comfortable. Everything is easy to access and carry with this bag and it suits my needs perfectly as far as organization.
Weird thing that I found: the phone pouch near the top handle with the headphone cord opening going directly to the inner pouch isn't big enough for 2019. I can't fit a 6 inch phone into the pouch (iPhone plus). Which is really weird because a tech bag should be able to put a larger phone of 2019 which is super common now into the phone pocket. I haven't seen anyone in my college using a MP3 player so I don't know why it's so small. This means that I can't even use the headphone cord opening so it's just another tiny pocket up top. (Yes headphone jacks are becoming scarce but then why include an opening if not for that purpose) A disappointment I wanted to address that sounds small, but should have been thought of when designing.
So then what's actually wrong? This review has a terrible rating?
Cons: I loved this bag. I thought as long as I took care of it, I shouldn't have problems. I was wrong. Within my small amount of time using the bag, it has begun to fall apart. The straps are starting to fray and the fabric in general is showing signs of wear. I patched it up with some stitches to see if I can combat this, but that's only because of how much I want this bag to work (my computer-tablet is an awkward size and it's hard to find a suitable bag). If you see the other customer reviews' images of the falling apart straps, mine are showing similar signs. I wouldn't recommend this bag to anyone simply because of the construction. The fabric itself is not durable enough to support the weight of the bag so the stitching , which so far is ok otherwise, is tearing right through the fabric. Think of the image of dental floss cutting through jello. With the jello as the fabric, the bag isn't holding up to my short term use.
I am so disappointed with the bag. I don't even think it's strong enough to carry a MacBook Air. And if it could and you really want the grid it system, I suggest just buying a grid it insert and a more durable slim bag to get a better value (what I'm going to do once this bag turns into the pile of tattered thread that it keeps on insisting that it is despit my attempts at keeping it a bag).
Great design, poor quality.

I've had this pack for about two months, and it's both good and bad. All my cables are now organized and easy to find, and the pack is perfect for my laptop and all the other gear I use in tech support. However, as some other reviewers have noted, the stitching and materials are definitely substandard. I'm already getting fraying from all the major seams, and don't expect this to make it more than about 9 months. If I could find this pack done well (good materials and workmanship) it would be five stars.
Best Technical Backpack Ever Owned

This is one of the best technical backpacks ever owned. Has enough room for everything I need and still maintains the slim profile. Most of the time I carry 14 pounds, I weigh because of back issues, excluding water bottle(s) on the side. This includes an iPad Pro, Surface Pro 3 and all the gadgets, cables, docks, power, CD Drives, CDs, magazines, and more. All neatly organized, debatable, and I enjoy so much I stopped using a roller bag I used when I traveled. No issues with durability and have owned for several months and fly frequently.
I work in tech and no one else's bag looks as terrible. I have had this pack since September last ..

For something called an innovation and tech pack, it is not. I work in tech and no one else's bag looks as terrible. I have had this pack since September last year, that was 8 months ago and use it for my commute each day. Sadly the shoulder straps are falling apart literally. The foam padding on the inside of the strap has bunched up into a ball and no longer functions as a pad therefore annoying as well as terrible looking. Both straps have begun to fray and soon I will have to carry my back because the straps will snap. I want a refund and Amazon is not offering a return. Don't buy this pack, you will not be happy. Again...I recommend not buying this pack if you are a commuter or work in tech.
MCP3451BK Slim XL 17 Inch Backpack Up To 17" Laptop
Great!

I love this backpack! One thing that you should note: it is very slim. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like when it arrived, but it fits my laptop and a few other stationary-type things perfectly. I don't think it would fit much else considering how slim it is. I also love the grid-it pocket for all of my knick-knacks. PLUS it's waterproof! I will be recommending this product to others.
