A nearly perfect bag for the academic in usby Gmw (4 out of 5 stars)

First off this carrier bag is good for the money. Make sure to read the specifications before you buy it though. It's not particularly large but it's nearly perfect for what I need. I'm a student teacher at a local college. It fits about 3 notebooks each about half an inch thick, my laptop with its case on (about 2 inches thick, and a thin 3 ring binder(about bout 1 inch thick) without having to cram anything in. On top of that it has 2 seperaters( one of which zips) and another compartment that zips on the backside which is perfect for manila folders I use to keep different papers organized. The only thing I don't like about it is that it would help if it was a little taller(in case I have larger binders) and it doesn't have any pen or pencil holders. Other than that it's perfect as a light bag for carrying papers and light school materials. It feels ok as far as durability goes, though I wouldn't put anything over 25 pounds in it and the magnetic straps work well. I'm not a huge fan of canvas but that's subjective. If your looking for an affordable light weight back for school or something more casual look no further. Note that if you have a lot of bulky heavy books you'll probably need a different bag.
All looks, very little function

The bag LOOKS great, however the interior has a loose unattached lining that makes fitting things inside impossible. There is a pouch on the interior back that has a very hard to work zipper, another "laptop sleeve" pouch that is attached inside the lining and so at once sewn in and immovable but also unattached to the main housing and so very floppy and unshaped. The bag desperately needs a bit of structure to be able to fit things like books or iPads or laptops or anything remotely squared off.
The front straps have magnetic closures with a pretty significant lip which makes them fussy to close and another hidden set is inside the fabric overhang flap which means closing it securely requires four fussy magnets and takes way too much effort. real leather straps and buckles would have been simpler which is saying something indeed.
Computer carrier

The bag seems well made enough, however very unstructured. It folds into a puddle when nothing is in it..just thought it would be a bit more insulated/stiffer to protect a computer or pad. I'm keeping it as it does server the purpose and with a zipper pocket. I like the looks and size.
Multiple uses, very versatile.

Purchased this last year for my husband for Christmas. He loved it, and so did my daughter. I had to buy her one of her own. He ultimately decided he needed a bigger messenger bag, so it went unused for a month or two. Recently though, I have started using it myself for Bible study or knit nights. My Bible and the DVD player will fit in this bag for Bible study, plus pens, notebooks and my phone and wallet. For knit night I can fit a lot of yarn and a couple of projects as well as various odds and ends in there. I love that it zips and fastens securely so I don't have to worry about losing things if it gets turned upside down accidentally
Worked well for travel

I bought this as a gift to my husband to use as a travel bag, in addition to his carry-on which he always travels with. We finally got to put it to the test and it held up pretty well. The bag has a lot of different compartments, which is nice for staying organized and the leather is a nice touch. The brown color complements that leather well and it feels like a very down-to-earth bag overall. He had a hard time getting the bag into a position that was comfortable and for it to rest well on his body, but once he got into the groove of using it, it seemed to be a great hands-free travel option.
New and improved bag is great

The zipper broke after using it a couple months.
Update: Hynes Eagle emailed me a couple weeks ago stating that they have improved the zipper to the bag and wanted to me to leave another review. They sent me a bag free off charge and it just arrived today. My husband is so excited because he loved his work bag but had to stop using due to the broken zipper. The new bag we received is a darker color but looks nice.
1/28/2015 Another Update: My husband has been using this bag to work everyday. He said he liked it better than the previous bag and his Jcrew bag, which also looks similar. Thank you Hynes for improving the bag.
Nice Laptop Bag

I really like this bag. It has magnetic catches, so yo don't have to unbuckle it every time you want to open it. The size was just large enough for my 15" notebook. As others said though, there isn't much padding if you drop it, so it's not intended primarily as a laptop case.
Good courier bag.

I like this bag. Look and feel are awesome. However, it's a bit soft, making opening and closing the various zippers (plenty) a little tedious, and the flap has four magnets holding it down. The only reason that's a problem is that when you slap the flap shut, it doesn't just shut. You have to find and match up the magnet connectors in order for the top to close properly.
Other than that, it's roomy, has plenty of space for stuff, looks great, and the strap is amazing.

Bag is smaller than expected. Quality is pretty good. Don't plan on putting a laptop in there if you plan to use it as a briefcase as the buttons won't stay snapped shut. I definitely think there is a bag out there of much higher quality and durability for $50. Despite its shortcomings, it is a nice looking bag otherwise.
It looks great, slings over easily and holds a good deal ...

I've been complimented many times on this bag. It looks great, slings over easily and holds a good deal of "stuff". I typically bring my work laptop (15" MBP) and a set of gym clothes in it every day. On long trips I typically use this as a day bag and it easily tucks away in my luggage on flights.
Love this bag. Really happy with it.
