at first it didn't seem like anything too amazingby A. Seese (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this on a whim during a lighting deal. I received it very quickly. After opening the box, at first it didn't seem like anything too amazing.. until I played a short melody and I was instantly like 10 years younger.. flipped me out at first. I kept practicing and was eventually able to summon some random horse that would run to me when ever I played it. So if anyone is missing a horse I'm sorry.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Design Sound Quality and Price

I got this for Christmas today and right out of the package it was a huge success. The sound is amazing and rich and it sounds really beautiful. It is indeed made of ceramic and comes in a few different colors. The design is very neat and it is very well done. The whole thing is fairly lightweight and comes with a neck string for easy carrying in the go, and the string is very sturdy if tied well and carefully so dropping it should not be a worry. It is somewhat loud and it does not seem to have any other volume except for the one it plays at, so you'll have to be careful when playing around others. As an instument it is fairly easy to learn. This specific model has one octave and the major C scale it is tuned to is easy to learn, but the chromatids will require some practice. As a musician myself (Tuba), I think this is a great instument with great sound and great quality and at this price is a real bargain.
Probably worthwhile to spend a little more $$ on a better one.

This is ok as a cheap introduction to the Ocarina, but for a little bit more money, you can get a much better one. It's a "pitch bending" instrument, meaning that your breathing technique can influence the pitch, so it's hard to say whether or not it's "well tuned", or if I just don't know what I'm doing yet. If you look for ocarina tutorial videos, you will see people who play really well saying that these things are junk and you should spend a little more money to get a better one.
If you get into it, you will quickly see that there are all kinds of ocarinas made out of all sorts of materials, and they have their advantages and disadvantages. I'm going to keep this one to learn the basics on, but I think that if I stick with it I will buy a wooden ocarina next.
It's a great instrument to learn because it's fun and totally portable. If you have not bought one yet, do a search on Amazon for "professional ocarina" and you will see some nicer ones for not much more money. I think it would be worthwhile to get a better one.
Great for Zelda fans

My son went crazy when I got this for him. He absolutely loved it. It is really nice quality, great paint job, very attractive. String / necklace was easy to attach. It plays very nicely.
Our 2 complaints:
1. This is being marketed as a Zelda Ocarina, but the book that came with it had songs like "Happy Birthday" and other common tunes. We were hoping for notes to play Zelda tunes.
2. Travel pouch is way too small. This comes with a little hand that is used as a stand / holder, but the hand does not fit into the pouch, so you can't bring it with you, only the Ocarina fits.
Nostalgic, but disappointing

The ocarina's first octave from low C to high C plays relatively in tune. The high D, E, and F are virtually impossible to hit in tune with a good tone. The low B and B-flat can be played, and the A below that if you use very little air while covering all the holes.
As for the craftsmanship, you get what you pay for. For a twenty dollar instrument I was satisfied with the quality of the holes, shape of the mouthpiece, and the triforce band. The overall tone quality is equivalent to a soprano recorder of the same price.
If you are looking to play the songs from the original LOZ in their original keys, you will not be able to do so because of the restrictive range of the ocarina. Also, the booklet provided is not a LOZ songbook. Instead you get a songbook that provides the incorrect fingerings for happy birthday. The music starts on D, but the fingerlings start with 8 of the top holes close which is C.
Pretty to look at but it will not play

This looks lovely and it's very pretty on my shelf, but I don't think the mouthpiece is shaped correctly because it won't play. Instead of musical tones, there is just blowing air with no sounds no matter where I place my fingers. I'm a little disappointed, but I bought it mostly for display so this isn't a deal breaker for me.
The only thing I don't really like is that the display stand is a little ceramic hand. It's both creepy and a bit ugly. I wish it was a more utilitarian shape. I will most likely replace it with something else.
Beautiful ocarina. Might be a bootleg?

Beautiful ocarina. I do believe this is a bootleg though, the box has Zelda but wouldn't you think it should come with a Zelda music note sheet? It was a good price and sounds nice. The ocarina was packaged in a well stuffed box with styrofoam plates. I can keep my ocarina safely stored and don't have to buy a case for it. Maybe later at another time.
I think this is a beautiful ocarina. It looks exactly like the photo for the product and not a lie like a lot of stuff on Amazon.
Maybe, research a bit more if you want the ethentic ocarina that looks familiar like this one. But if you want to go cheap, get this one. I played Zelda's lullaby and it sounded nice. Practise makes perfect!
this is a fantastic piece of craftsmanship

For the price, this is a fantastic piece of craftsmanship. I'm a big fan of the Ocarina of Time, and am thrilled with this purchase. I am not musically inclined, so I can't comment thoroughly on the quality of sound coming from this instrument. I will say that I tried blowing on it lightly to keep the noise down (I didn't want to bother those around me) and had some issues with consistency. After I blew on it a little harder the sound was crisp and clean, at least to my ears. For the price you will be hard pressed to find something this pretty
Very Nice for Zelda Fand

I must state that I am not a musician so I am reviewing this as a layperson. I purchased this for my daughter as a Christmas gift because she is a big fan of The Legend of Zelda and wanted to learn how to play some of the songs on the ocarina.
This ocarina seems to be a good quality for an amateur. It has a nice, heavy feel and appears to be very durable with proper care.
The box had a vaguely Zelda themed illustration and there is a Tri-force design on the ocarina which will thrill Zelda fans. I was hoping for a few Zelda songs but the instructions were for common songs. We were able to find some Zelda songs with a simple online search.
My daughter has had some flute training through her school and was able to play a recognizable tune the first evening.
It's a showpiece, not an instrument.

I was wondering why I couldn't even play the whole scale correctly, until I watched a few tutorials - they all pointed out that this specifically (and all other Zelda replications) are low-quality crap, and that a real ocarina can play the whole scale easily. So I bought a decent ocarina and the difference was immediate and noticeable.
If you just want something to put on your desk and look at, this is fine. If you actually want to learn how to play, this is worthless and a waste of money.
