I had some problems getting bulb to connect to my phone at first however I followed instructions on site (turn off/on about 5 times)and got it working.I actually had to to do this about 3 times since everytime I turn off my phone, when I restared it I lost the connection. However now it seems to be connecting easily even though I use the light switch from time to time. I haven't been able to try the music player (it needs certain music players) to see the effects on the bulb.Otherwise I am pleased with it.

The lights, amazing! However, the app lacks a bit to desire. Two major things, more presets need to be added, and the second the built in music player. Needs to be completely be trashed or let it work with the internal music player of your smartphone, in my case iPhone. Love that it changes with the beat of music but the player has got to go or work in conjunction with the internal music player.

fantastic light, does the job + more. If you buy this model though, make sure you are moving it around too much because it is heavy (such as leaving it on an adjustable lamp)

Bright and Colorful!

I love these, I have a pair of them. They are very bright, can display the full spectrum of color at full brightness, and I love the way you can program them with scenes and animated effects. I like having them turn on slowly in the morning as a wake-up alarm.

On the negative side, the app could be better (but a new version is apparently in the works). It does feel a bit silly to wait 10s for an app to launch on your phone in order to turn on and off your lights. Occasionally, a bulb will lose connection and I have to go over to the lightswitch to reset it. Both bulbs also produce an audible high-pitched hum, but you have to be in a near-dead silent room and be within a few feet to hear it.

But those are minor nits. With a better app and some firmware tweaks, these will be the LED bulbs all others will be judged by.

It works fine as a regular light bulb but all the other features very glitchy. Could not get the sunrise feature to work on alarm. Adjusting white light for warm/cool worked once in a while but would go back to default gas station parking lot bluish/green. Needed firmware update that would run for 20-30 minutes but never get past 2 of 5. After several attempts and trying everything to nurse the update through I gave up and returned.

Works as advertised, and the app was pretty easy to begin using. I'm just curious why does an LED bulb have a massive, heavy heat sink? The lighting element doesn't get hot at all. I am using it for photography, and I have it in a desk lamp, and the thing is so heavy that I can't get the lamp to hold position. I have other LED bulbs in the house, none of them have such a substantial heat sink. The thing is extraordinarily heavy.

Edit: Also, after having used it for a few days now, it has a whine. The dimmer you make the light, the louder the whine. At its loudest, it's not terribly bad. But after using it for a while it really starts to get to you.

This is a really cool LED light. What I like most about it, is how bright the light goes, particularly when set to just white. It goes far brighter than any other LED light I've personally tried, making it not only a great colored party light, but a really nice quality room light as well. To be perfectly honest, what I like least about it, is the bluetooth connectivity. I would have much rather it worked via WiFi, which pretty much everyone has active on their phones at all times. Bluetooth, however, is shoddy technology in my book. It consumes far too much power and I'm just not fond of anything bluetooth.

This app works in conjunction with iOS and Android apps, and works equally well on both platforms. Once you open the app, it automatically searches for nearby ilumi lights, so be sure to have it screwed into a light socket or lamp. Also be sure that the switch is permanently turned on, otherwise this light won't have any power, and thus, cannot function, nor can it be recognized via bluetooth. The app paired with the light within seconds, and I was ready to start playing.

The app features some interesting functionality. Obviously, you can turn the light on and off, set how bright or dim you want it, select any color from a swatch of preselected colors, or just pick any color you want off a color wheel; all that's well and good and functioned as expected. Some additional features include, vacation mode for use while away from home, a sunrise 'alarm' clock, profiles for what days of the week and times you want the light to turn on and off, and a few other settings. My personal favorite, was the Simon game, similar to the lighted game you may have played as a kid. The ilumi light will display a color, then you hit the corresponding color on your app; then the light will flash 2 colors, then 3 and so on; just keep guessing in the correct sequence and see how well you can do. Funny!

Personally, I'm not fond of gizmos without an off switch; I prefer actual physical buttons that just turns stuff off. Sure, you can just flip the light switch, but that cuts power to the bulb entirely, thus rendering the app nonfunctional until you flip the switch again. I would have liked to see a soft off toggle or even a touch control that would put the light into standby mode; thus turning it off, but leaving it powered to receive bluetooth commands when you're ready to use it again. For me, I don't want my phone to be the be all end all gizmo that controls everything. What if my phone is in the other room? Then I gotta go get it just to turn off this light?? No thanks.

I like the random color feature most, but saw no setting for it specifically. The light begins in random mode by default, but I saw no way to easily get back to it; nor did I see controls to adjust the brightness or speed of randomization. It's easily my most favorite feature and should be easier to find and tweak.

I like it, but don't love it.
