Top Reviews

Nowhere close to a precision tool, but good enough.
by Rick Masters (4 out of 5 stars)

So let me first explain the 4-stars. This thing is worth 4 stars based on the price alone, and what you get for the money.

So onto an actual product review...

Opening the package I was pleasantly surprised to see an additional flat ruler and a small Phillips-head screw driver. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that not only were batteries included, but batteries were already in the device.

Using the tool is pretty straight forward, there is no trickery afoot. The switch turns on the laser, and it's next to impossible to screw up a bubble level, so they work as intended. The laser pattern switch took me a second to understand (RTFM), but it's easy to function once you realize it's far more simple than you think it would be. The tape measure works perfectly, though the operation of the locking mechanism is the exact opposite of every other tape measure I've used. Again, once I understood it, zero complaints.

Now, there are two cons, and if this were a $100 tool it would result in a 1 star rating, but at $12 I'm still pleased. My only complaint is that the laser casts at about a 5 degree clockwise angle. This isn't as much an issue if you hold it against a wall to have a horizontal laser, but if you set it on a table or counter, the laser is noticeably not straight up and down. Being aware of this, I just use it horizontally and adjust for the very slight angular change caused. The other con, and it's not a complaint, is that the bubble levels aren't very precise. This is a problem with the markings on the bubble cylinders themselves, not a defect or anything, as these levels will only get you pretty close.

In short - this tool is worth the 4 stars because it does what it advertises adequately enough for the price. It's more than adequate for someone looking to make sure their pictures are level and in line, but if you are an OCD type or have legitimate need for a higher precision tool, spend the money.

Good customer service
by ruby (4 out of 5 stars)

It's a pretty useful and handy tool because it's all in one, but I bought this tool mostly for its laser function, which I would like to use it as a guideline for writing and drawing, but the line doesn't have the right angle even I adjusted it as the manual said (see pictures). Also attached some other pictures of this product just for your references.

After leaving the comments above, the 3rd party seller contacted me and sent me a new adjusted one for free, which is really good costumer service, so I added 2 stars for them.

Great product and outstanding customer service
by Faro (5 out of 5 stars)

A few recent reviews indicated that an updated version of this item includes the hole for attachment of a tripod. I ordered this item, and was very disappointed that this is NOT true. I contacted Qooltek and let them knew about the issue. Even though this was not their fault at all (they obviously have no control over what people say in their reviews), they were very understanding and immediately sent me a replacement.

So again, to save others from making my mistake, this item DOES NOT have a tripod mounting hole. However, the seller offers a different item which does: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZZSNP8D

Bottom line: this laser level is an excellent value for the price, and this seller showed excellent customer service by promptly taking care of me, even when it wasn't their mistake to begin with. A+++++

OK for Non-Critical Jobs but not good for Professionals
by SheetMetalGuy (3 out of 5 stars)

This tool is OK for the low cost that it is and is ok for the average homeowner. I used it on a job recently and had a couple concerns. First and foremost there is no bubble level right to left. When you cast a horizontal beam on a wall there is no way to make sure its actually level. Second, there are no adjustments if you need to calibrate the "Levelness" or "Plumbness". Lastly, with the built in tape measure and its overall mediocre construction it seems a little cheesy and cheap. If you're a weekend warrior or the average homeowner this is good for non-critical jobs. If you're getting this for the work you do for a living, buy something of higher quality.

Good value at a Low Cost
by Simple Programmer (4 out of 5 stars)

A nice general purpose level with a laser, which is great for laying out a straight line on the wall or floor, hanging pictures at the same of at a slant. The level has the added benefit of allowing you to select the type of pointer, vertical, horizontal, or a crosshair. The laser can be adjusted, which is a great addition, because you can lay the level on a counter and project the line(s) on a wall across the room, and either plumb the vertical line, or align the horizontal line to a true horizontal level.

Some reviews complained about not being able to attach the level to the wall. At this size, attachment pins would put large holes in the wall to hold this level up, and would not hold well. It is very easy to just use masking tape and tape the level to the wall, if needed.

For those people looking for a dot, I don't understand why the crosshair would not suffice. The center of the crosshair would be the dot.

The tape measure and measuring mark on the base of the level are just handy items to have with you, if using the tool. Just features that provide added value for the low cost of this laser level.

The lock for the measuring tape is counter intuitive if you have used other measuring tape. On most tape measure, the lock is in the release mode, and to hold the tape in place, the lock is engaged. On this tool, the tape is set up in the opposite mode, the lock is engaged, which means you must press the lock release when pulling the tape, and release to lock the tape in position. The manual and description of the tool states this is how to use the tape measure, but seems many buyers don't read the instructions and complain about how hard it is to pull the tape out.

I gave it a 4 Stars for the following reasons:

a) The bubbles are not refined enough. The bubbles have a large gap between the edge of the bubbles and the marking lines. The bubble edge should just touch both lines when level. For a true level this is critical to ascertain that the level is really level. The bubble should be larger also.

b) A tripod hole in the base would have been useful. This would allow the level to be mounted on a tripod and placed anywhere in the room. This allows the level to project the line(S) across walls and rotated around the room.

c) Minor - A magnetic base as an added feature.

Terrible piece of junk

Terrible piece of junk. The laser is way off. We hung two pictures and we're both off by almost an inch. We could eyeball it better than that. And the cheap tape measure that comes out of the side snaps back in so quickly it will slice your hand open if it's in the way

Godsend for calligraphers + artists
by francis (5 out of 5 stars)

I primarily use this little gadget for calligraphy and other art projects where I need a straight line but don't want to spend 2093482093 hours drawing lines... I combine this with the Dahle 10683 Vantage Cutting Mat, 24" x 36" and it's perfect for spacing! I also bought an iphone tripod and this fits perfectly into it (I got a tripod that fits a iphone 5s) for when I need the + lines. I assume it would probably work just as well for those looking to project lines on to walls. The tape measurer has also come in handy around the house... used it several times today actually. I am loving this product and for a great price tag too. I was thinking about buying a sliderwriter but made a better version using this, the dahle mat, and an iphone tripod.

Although the concept is extremely cool, when it comes to functionality
by Ryan Leslie (1 out of 5 stars)
May 4, 2018

When arriving, it was a little cheaper feeling than what I'd hope for. The measuring tape is extremely flimsy and the entire level just feels cheap. Although the concept is extremely cool, when it comes to functionality, it's pretty much useless. Literally depending on which side you put against the wall (tape measure side to the left, or tape measure side to the right) you will get a completely different reading! This is due to poor quality control and how the bottom piece was put on incorrect and or uneven.

So I'm not sure how they expect you to "adjust" the laser, when you can't even count on the level to tell you if it is straight or not. I actually had to use a free level that I received with one of my TV mounts I purchased off of amazon!

Just take a second to read the description (if you can understand it), that should give you a good idea of who is making the product. I feel like I'm trying to read a second graders book report. I know it's irrelevant, but who seriously allowed them to post that without it being proof-read by someone that can actually read and speak English.

Anyway, i wish I listened to the reviews I read that stated very similar issues with the level being inaccurate, because I'm returning mine.

Hope this helps,

Cheers.

Wish they made all my tools.

It arrived today and when i opened it i was blown away. Comes with a screw driver bc the battery cover. I go to put in Tyne batteries only to see a little white pull tab... it came w an extra set 😁 and an additional adjustment bar. I managed to use tape to secure the extra bits to my laser level.

Well built, all functions work great!
by Joe, Access3Dservices (5 out of 5 stars)
April 6, 2018

As a 3D printing business we find a need for all sorts of tools. In looking for a metric tape measure I came across this multipurpose tool and I'm so glad I settled on this! Not only do all the functions work great but it also came with a small standalone metal ruler in addition to the attached rulers and tape measure. The laser is bright and came perfectly level, and the tape lock works well.

If you're considering this item and aren't super hard on your tools (this is primarily constructed of strong plastic) then you'll find this multipurpose tool extremely useful.
