i dont recommened this product to anyoneby Anthony Hutchison (1 out of 5 stars)

i bought this product in February 2018 i went and used in march for the first time it seemed to work good everything pretty much as advertised so after a hour or so of casting and watching the app i went home and put it in my dresser drawer. we had a cold front come through so i didn't get back out till april and when i got out to the lake it was working so when i got home later that day i plugged it in to charge and it didn't light up like it was suppose to. i tried different chargers and nothing worked so i contacted amazon but it had been passed the 30 days for returns they told me to contact deeper. so i contact deeper after a few days of emailing they sent me a ups label and customs forms to mail the bobber for inspection. i did not use this incorrectly i lined up the water proof arrows didn't put it water without the cap didn't store it in a damp environment it was kept clean an try and in the little coozy holder that comes with it and this is the email i got today.
Your Deeper has been examined carefully and water damage was found.
To determine the origin of damage Deeper has gone through complete water tightness tests:
High-pressure test was applied to check the body and cover of Deeper and no splits or cracks were identified
The sealing gasket was checked for tightness.
After conducting these tests we can conclude that there are no manufacturing defects and water damage occurred due to misuse.
Possible ways of misuse:
1. The top Deeper cover was not screwed according to instructions. Water Proof marks have to match perfectly.
2. Deeper was put into the water without the top cover;
3. Deeper was left out in damp environment for a long time without the top cover
We are sorry to say it, but it is not possible to repair water-damaged electronics. Nevertheless, we are happy to offer a paid exchange for a 100% working Deeper 3.0. Price of the exchange would be 83 EUR.
Kind regards,
Deeper

I had the opportunity to use the Deeper at length this past weekend. I think it has the potential to be a very good product but there are a few things that really hold it back. The biggest issue I encountered was connection issues. I am a very tech savvy person. I own a multitude of bluetooth devices and work for a company that does iOS development. I spent the first 25 minutes of my outing trying to get this thing connected and stay connected. Since there is no refresh button, and it doesn't seem to do it automatically, every time I lost bluetooth connection I had to turn the bluetooth off on my iPhone and turn it back on to get it to connect. It was a repetitive cycle of force closing the app, turning bluetooth on, then off, then on. I would get a connection and then it would simply drop off. A lot of this was because I was in a small boat, and moving would cause the deeper to come out of the water. While it's not an ideal situation, small craft is like using a row boat or kayak was the reason I purchased this over a conventional fish finder.
Once I got this sorted out I had a better experience but it wasn't without it's continued issues.
- Accessing the camera and then going back to the sonar screen would allow the app to let the phone sleep. This seems to be a software bug that may be resolved in the future.
- The map program, Nutiteq, is sub par. I fish small lakes and ponds and the accuracy of the map imaging was pretty poor. I was fishing the banks of a small lake and it was showing me, and my boat to be fishing on land. It's tough to plot a lake, when the imagery of the lake is quite inaccurate.
- More software issues... At one point the finder flaked out on me and instead of reading the 7.2 ft of water I was in, the display said was in 733876.2 feet of water. This will probably be corrected in the future, but for the price of this unit and the length of time it's been out, it shouldn't happen.
Pros-
- Battery life was great, I actually ran the deeper for about 3 hours and had 63% battery life left.
- The app is great when it works properly. Its pretty easy to navigate and the features are good.
- The boat mode/mapping feature is great because I can see the entire trip history, just wish I could export the depth map with all the readings labeled.
Things I would love to see.
Syncing- Currently all info is stored on a single device. If I use 1 phone on a trip and another device for the next, the data doesn't sync. I used two devices on the same lake because my battery died so I used a backup phone. Each phone has data of the same lake but I can't combine them to have a single, full history of the outing.
Better maps- Drop Nutiteq and get more accurate maps. I can read a street sign on google maps, or bing but according to Nutieq, I'm fishing on boat halfway up a hill....
Ability to refresh the bluetooth connection from within the app. Don't make me force close the app to connect, make a button for it in the settings.
Export data - I would like to export my data to my computer so I can view it somewhere other than my phone.
Overall, it's a good device buts it's not without some serious issues. Someone with less tech experience and less patience would have given up trying to get it to work (and rightfully so). If I wasn't alone, and people were waiting on me to get fishing, this thing would have probably been back in the box. This is by far the most expensive choice I've seen for smartphone fish finders, and it's been out for a considerable amount of time, it should be more refined for the price. Fix the major issues, and bring the price down about 25% and it would be a 5 star product.

Constant connection issues. Read the instructions before trying it on ponds, large lake, and river. Removed phone case for better Bluetooth range. Once it connects once I cant get it to connect again without turning off Bluetooth, closing app, and restarting phone. I have 3 Bluetooth speakers and never have issues so I understand how to use Bluetooth and limitations. They obviously have a lot of issues because you have to put tickets in for support. I will change my review and post an update if the company can find a solution....

Fantastic product for ice fishing or open lake fishing. Only down side is needing a 30 minute charge after four hours. I highly recommend this!

Works Great! this unit has everything I was looking for. both the ability to use it as a regular fish finder, and the ability to use it as a flasher in the winter, the mapping feature is a huge added bonus. As a kayak fisherman this unit is perfect for my needs. my only complaint is that i think the arm to attach the unit to a boat is significantly overpriced. I originally ordered the arm, but returned it as it would not mount well to my kayak. i ended up making a custom aluminum arm which is machined to attach into my scotty type rod holder. In the past I have tried and tested several of the portable fishfinders which can be purchased in the 100-150 dollar range, this unit goes far above and beyond the capabilities of any of those units. One hesitation I had purchasing this unit was that i would have to take my phone out of its waterproof box in my kayak. to solve this I purchased a inexpensive tablet at a local store which I vacuum sealed into a bag with the usb cord sticking out. so far it has worked great as a receiver for this unit. Overall I would highly recommend this unit to both the starter fisherman, and the experienced one who wants a more portable unit.
Pros
-Portable
-Simple to use
-Great Features
-standard threaded mounts make it easy to make a mounting bracket
Cons
-mounting bracket is overpriced, and could not secure to my kayak
-requires a separate receiving unit

I purchased this last spring and decided to wait until I could test out the ice fishing functionality before I'd write a review.
I really like this little unit and have had no bluetooth connectivity issues with a Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 8. My experience has been that it connects seconds after hitting the water. I originally purchased this for my motorboat, but found it just as easy to take along and use on my kayak. The app has some handy sonar mapping features, which I used to map a good chunk of lake that had no previous sounding maps using my kayak. I attached a large fishing swivel to the Deeper unit tied off to duck decoy string. On my kayak, I simply hang it over the side and tie it off so that the unit sits upright in the water (that's the key). The unit does not like being in less than 5 feet of water, but I don't really see why you'd need to use it in that shallow to begin with. When using it in my motorboat, I toss it over the side with the same setup as my kayak. Obviously I can't go very fast before the unit becomes submerged and then loses connection with my phone. This setup is a bit clunkier than I'd like but it's something I can fix on my own by creating a proper mount for the unit while on my boat. I haven't casted this unit from a fishing pole nor do I intend to use it like that, so I can't comment on that type of functionality.
The ice fishing flasher works great. I've used it for 6 hours straight and it still has 60% battery left on the unit itself. I like that the app records your entire day and you can easily go back and review where you fished and what you saw at any time. Plus you can backup all of your data to Google Drive with the touch of a button. It marks fish well (though I have one tungsten jig it has a hard time picking up) and most jigs it picks up great. I bought a cheap tripod from Amazon to mount my phone on while in the shack or on the ice and that setup seems to work really well.
Also worth mentioning is that they have a web app called Lakebook so you can share your sonar maps with others (if you choose!). I like having multiple ways to access the data I'm generating and Deeper delivers. Their support seems to be responsive and I get the sense that the creators actively listen to their community and try to improve their product based on feedback.
The cons: sometimes the app keeps running the background and grabs hold of my GPS, draining my phone's battery quickly. They seemed to have fixed this for the most part in a recent update, but I've noticed it happen every now and again. Closing the app from the Android app menu did seem to fix the issue.
Overall I would highly recommend this product. It's small enough to throw in a tackle box or a jacket pocket and the performance is great.
Best fish finder for recreational freshwater anglers

This device works exactly as it is advertised. I want to congratulate the deeper team for doing such a great job in advertising; as a customer, they truly convinced me to buy the device. Usually, adds tend to be much better than what the product truly is, leaving the customer somehow disappointed. Not the case with deeper 3.0. I tested this device for about a week before giving a review.
pros:
- fish icons: It really does work, when it says there is a fish, there IS a fish. This makes using a sonar so easy, anyone can use it out of the box. This has made me a much more successful fisherman.
- sonar frequency: You can choose narrow beam and wide beam. This is extremely useful, the narrow beam is incredibly accurate to capture the terrain, specially on shallow waters. The wide beam is great for scanning larger areas and is the one I use the most. I usually run the wide beam, and where there is fish I anchor my yak and start casting, or jigging. I do use the narrow beam sometimes if I am fishing for bass or pike, where accurate casting makes a difference. And this works really well, got me a 4lb oinker yesterday.
- The app: beautifully crafted, great companion for the device.
- User friendly: both app and device are pretty smart and user friendly (other than Bluetooth). Heck you don't even have to turn it on, it turns on by itself when on the water.
- price: current price is $119 on amazon. This is just a bargain for the quality of the device and app.
- Mapping: the app lets you map your trajectory and saves all the contour info as well as history of fish activity etc. You can also load these maps in your computer, print them, append them, etc...
cons:
Here is a list of cons, which really can be solved if you are willing to put a bit more money.
- connectivity issues: There is a small learning curve to getting used to the connectivity between deeper and your personal smartphone. I've had it lose connectivity, but it is usually BECAUSE of my phone. The position of my phone really affects the connectivity, I have found that if your phone is higher than the deeper, connectivity is pretty good (as advertised). If you fish from a kayak (like I do) you will run into this type of problems, solution? get a phone holder that will have your phone higher than the deeper. This is a Bluetooth problem, and that's why deeper offers the pro version with WIFI instead, so if you are willing to spend more money, get the pro. With that said, I have learned to deal with Bluetooth and I have no connectivity issues anymore.
- Battery life: It would be AMAZING if you could buy an extra battery, charge it at home, and swap it when the device runs out. Deeper runs for about 4~6 hrs, so if you are going for a long fishing trip you will run out of battery (I found it is usually about 4 hrs, not really 6). This is a problem for both the 3.0 and the Pro + (the pro even worst, since wifi eats more battery). However, your own phone will probably run out of power before deeper does, using bluetooth drains the battery, but you can always bring a phone and a tablet, or an extra battery for your phone if you can swap it.
- Resolution: Resolution is not the best, so if you really need high resolution sonar deeper 3.0 is not for you. If you are a recreational angler like me, who simply want to know where the fish are and terrain information, deeper will satisfy you. Deeper does offer the pro version, which has much better resolution. Of course this requires higher sampling rates, which makes the device more expensive. The question is, do you REALLY need high res?
- sonar depth: it goes up to 140ft. Which is good enough for the freshwater depths I fish on. If you fish on the ocean, or very deep waters, this could be a problem. Deeper does offer the pro+ version which scans much deeper.
With that said, deeper is a bargain for its price. It will satisfy you and make you a much more successful fisherman. As with anything, there are a few cons to it, but deeper offers the pro version which should offer you a much higher end sonar, and solve all issues you might encounter with deeper 3.0, other than the battery issues.
Very impressed -- And bonus settings I didn't even know about

What an outstanding and versatile product. I purchased primarily for kayak fishing in fresh water and didn't even know it had an ice fishing mode when I purchased the unit. I took up ice fishing a couple years ago but borrow a Vexiliar from a friend. I will report back as to how well it works this winter. Have been fishing three times with it and I really could not ask for more. Charge lasted all day -- better than my iPad. Seems the deeper causes the iPad to do a lot of work and drains battery much faster than I would have imagined. Regardless -- Buy it as you will not be disappointed. Hats off to Deeper software developers --- Amazing Job. One more thing. You can download all maps for offline use!!
Spectacular for off the grid use!

Love that I can use this way out in the boonies and it will still work. To those like me in the cat wilderness all you need to one of the devices mentioned (tablet or compatible smartphone and this sonar). You do not need internet or even phone service as the machines talk to each other using Bluetooth. (Yes, I had to research how Bluetooth worked myself). It works better than anticipated and I love that I can switch between modes while still fishing with it. Shows structure and fish almost as well and the Hummingbird sonars.
Great, and a little time consuming, but useful.

Takes a bit to get used to, but its great once you do. Find it to be used more for ice fishing. Can get good readings and easily in and out of ice holes. Not as convenient for stream fishing as you have to cast and get readings multiple times, and it's not always doable at a high traffic areas like salmon river in upstate ny. It just takes time away from fishing to get those readings and I would rather just spend my time fishing and figure out the steam as I go. It works good, it's just personal preference I guess.
