Good for ballpark readings
by Aric (3 out of 5 stars)
March 27, 2016

This review is being written by someone who has been in the medical industry for the past 5 years. I bought this BP monitor because I was diagnosed with hypertension (despite being young, 6 feet tall, and 175lbs.) My primary physician recommended that I purchase a BP monitor for home readings, so I purchased the MeasuPro Digital Wrist monitor. When I received it in the mail, it came neatly wrapped in plastic and packaged in a small MeasuPro box. It was admittedly smaller than expected, which isn't really a positive or negative. The monitor itself has a very clean-cut design and doesn't leave much room for confusion as far as how to work it. Access to the battery compartment is simple (no screwdrivers required) and the strap can fit around any size wrist comfortably.

The reason I say it's good for ballpark readings is because I do three readings back-to-back, and I usually receive three considerably different readings (10-20 point differences in some cases.) Keep in mind, it is not unheard of for blood pressure to change in a matter of minutes as there are many variables to consider when taking a reading; however, my readings were a BIT more sporadic than what would be considered normal. Perhaps I am a medical anomaly and my blood pressure really does change rapidly, but a more realistic assumption is that the MeasuPro doesn't take the most accurate readings. The readings through the MeasuPro ARE in the ballpark of the readings I take at my physicians office, so I'm not saying that the MeasuPro is completely inaccurate by any means. It is not a secret in the med industry that wrist monitors simply aren't as accurate as arm cuffs, but I didn't really want to spend a whole lot of money because the hypertension is not terribly serious, and therefore, doesn't require strict monitoring.

In conclusion, the MeasuPro Digital Wrist monitor has a very simple and clean design, doesn't take up much space/is easy to store, doesn't eat through batteries very quickly, and will give you a ballpark reading of your blood pressure. If you are looking for a blood pressure monitor for your personal curiosity or to get a general idea of where your levels are at, this will do the trick. If your physician requests more accurate home readings due to a serious health condition, or to hone in the appropriate medication dosaging, I would recommend investing more money in an arm cuff for more accurate readings.
**I am not a physician. I have worked with comparable products in nursing facilities as well as in the pharmaceutical industry. This is my personal review of the product; I paid full price and am writing this review of my own volition**

Not very accurate, to the high side
by CJFROG (2 out of 5 stars)
May 16, 2018

It didn't seem to be very accurate, sending it back today. Dr told me that the wrist ones aren't usually very accurate, get the one that has the cuff and sits on the table. I hoped this would be a small, accurate & easy way to check my parents BP but it was about 10-20 numbers high top & bottom versus the old school way and 2 other machines. Machine was in great shape, packaging was good. Arrived on time.

Dangerously Innacurate!
by DenCon (1 out of 5 stars)
October 21, 2018

Once I set it up for the correct (US) measurement standard (mmHg), this monitor was typically about 20 points low, but not consistently.

At my doctor's office, the nurse, my doctor, and I each tested and compared it to their old-school upper-arm-bulb-pumped-cuff with the same results - it's flat-out inaccurate. They commented that wrist-type monitors are known to be inaccurate.

Maybe the wrist monitor technology isn't ready for prime-time...

Erroneous readings all the time
by FERNANDO MARTINEZ DIEZ (1 out of 5 stars)

In paper this is a winner: small, functional, simple and inexpensive.

In reality all this remains true. A very small device with an easy readable screen, simple functionality, memory... All that is great. Unfortunately the measurements are very inconsistent and for as much I wanted to blame it on the operator but I couldn't. I shared my impression with my physician and he just chuckled and advised me to toss it. He cleared the operator of error and told me he has yet to see a device that reads from the wrist and is consistent.

I like it but wish I could check accuracy
by J. Talley (3 out of 5 stars)

I had mine since December 20th. I love the ease of use on my wrist. I also own a Omron Full Cuff and they seem to read very differently??

I just can't tell if what I'm seeing is accurate. Most time it reads 10 sys points less than the full-cuff monitor. It's very easy to read and check history. You must hold your arm up as directed to get consistent readings. If you move around it errors out, a nice feature. I intend to keep mine as I have a way to check or compare it's readings. It's so easy to use and one soon learns to track your levels by comparison. I check mine twice a day as I am on blood thinners and take blood pressure meds so it's important to check daily. Good product over all.

DO NOT PURCHASE! Very poor quality. I bought this to use in a non-medical elder care setting. The monitor strap will not stay secured when the monitor inflates as it takes the blood pressure resulting in an "error" reading or the monitor completely falling off the person. Would like to return but return not available after 30 days. I was not notified of problem by my staff until 30 days out.

Very disappointed, waste of money
by Katie G. (1 out of 5 stars)

Junk. I could be sitting for an hour, walking around my house doing housework or working out on the elliptical. It always gives me the same reading. Basically 125 over 70 give or take a few numbers. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Now as a person who has high blood pressure those numbers are obviously wrong. I went to the doctors the other day and my numbers were high as usual but I put this thing on when I got home and it still said 125 over 70. I mean it's not even close to the doctors blood pressure cuff. Not worth my time to send back but I will be buying a new one from another manufacturer. Don't buy this thing.

The best, most accurate reading is while sitting
by Ski Pro 3 (5 out of 5 stars)
October 20, 2015

Bought this after my wife had a stroke per doctor's recommendation. At first I didn't think it was very accurate. Then I discovered something;

The unit is accurate and very repeatable if you put your wrist up at your heart level. I was using it with no notice to where I rested my arm; on my lap, on the table in front of me, by my side. I started to notice the further down below my heart, the higher the blood pressure reading. The best, most accurate reading is while sitting, on my right wrist and my elbow resting on the chair armrest with my forearm cocked up so the monitor is right at my heart's level. I compared this at my Dr's office with her 'official' cuff and it's dead-on accurate to hers. Sweet!!

I like it a lot, but skeptical of it's accuracy.
by The Shopper Formerly Known as R. Seward (4 out of 5 stars)
October 22, 2015

I really like this product, but I'm not sure how accurate it is.

I was surprised how small the packaging was, it came in a very small box which included the blood pressure monitor, manual, batteries, and a storage pouch. The build quality is good, and battery compartment is easy to access. It's a nice design; the cuff is molded to fit around the wrist tightly with velcro to secure; of coarse it will fit everyone a little different (I'm 6'2", 220lb man). The display is back-lit and uses large, easy to read numbers. It's very simple to set up and use, and keeps a history of reading for two users.

With that said, I'm a little skeptical of it's accuracy. Every time I visit my Doctor, my BP readings are high, but I have only seen one high reading out of seven, so far with this monitor. Maybe it's normal for one's BP to fluctuate throughout the day, I just don't know. I'll take it to my next Dr appointment for comparison.
