Breathe Easy Snorkel Mask | |||||||||
| |||||||||
Product Description
An innovative snorkelling mask (surface snorkelling) enabling you to SEE and BREATHE UNDERWATER just like on DRY LAND! Discovery of the underwater world becomes even more accessible. See and breathe underwater as easily as you would on land The main obstacle to snorkelling is the difficulty in breathing underwater with a snorkel. Indeed, breathing through your mouth is unnatural, and the snorkel mouthpiece is sometimes considered too intrusive, uncomfortable and unhygienic. That's why Tribord invented the Easybreath, the first full-face snorkelling mask, for breathing underwater as easily and naturally as you would on land with your nose and mouth. Thanks to its large size, this innovative mask also offers users an unobstructed 180° field of vision, and is prevented from fogging up by a double air-flow system that is identical to the system used in domestic extraction fans. To ensure that water does not enter via the snorkel, the Easybreath mask is equipped with a mechanism that plugs the top of the snorkel when immersed in water. Furthermore, the top of the snorkel is highly visible in order to avoid any collisions on the surface. RESTRICTED USE : Not suitable for free diving or intensive swimming. STOCK ADVICE: Wash the mask by hand with washing-up liquid, dry it and store the mask in its net to let the air get to it. Do not wash in the dishwasher. SIZE: With your mouth closed, measure the distance between the bridge of your nose and the bottom of your chin: If it measures less than 10 cm (3,9"), choose size XS If it measures less than 12 cm (4 3/4"), choose size S/M If it measures more than 12 cm (4 3/4"), choose size ML If it measures more than 13 cm (5 1/8"), choose size L/XLFeatures
- 180 degree field of vision and shatterproof polycarbonate window for added safety.

Tribord and Subeaby Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

My husband and I received our snorkeling mask today. These appear to be good quality, although we have not tested them out. One of the mask had tribord logo on the orange and mask. The other mask had 'subea' on the orange and not on the mask. I reached out to tribord and they advised that "they are the new Decathlon diving brand for snorkeling, scuba diving, spearfishing and freediving. So now, the Easybreath mask is from Subea brand and no Tribord anymore. It's only for sailing products. Don't worry, it's the real one."
Hope this helps!
Great if it's NEW and Real!

The Tribord EasyBreath 2016 is a awesome mask! I have bought 4 for a trip to the Florida Keys. We have only tried them in a swimming pool so far but they don't leak or fog and you won't choke on any water which is great. Objects do appear a little closer than they actually are but only by a couple of inches. The vision is crystal clear you can see every particle in the water. Breathing seems fine I do try to pace my breaths if you have breathing issues I could see that it may feel restrictive but if you are healthy there should be no issue. I am trying to purchase 2 more but have come to a roadblock as each time I order one they are sending me one with a ripped off serial number, 2 separate companies through Amazon have done this so far iTEK and 5 stars seller. I never would have known they had serial numbers but I had ordered 4 already so when the others came packaged differently and with the serial number ripped off the tag I new it was wrong. I have read about these being a Chinese knock off product that is why I am so adamant about having a serial number. I give the product 5 stars but the companies selling them 1-3 stars.I added a picture the one on the right has a serial number the one on the left does not both came from iTEK.
The best mask I've tried (better than the Seaview in my and my partner's experiences)

This mask is simply the best. My partner and I tested this TRIBORD and a SEAVIEW 180 (last year's generation with a curved lens, as opposed to a flat lens). TRIBORD was better in each and every respect. Before I proceed, however, I should say that I do not know how newer models of SEAVIEW 180 (with a flat lens) compare to this TRIBORD.
GREAT VIEW: The view in TRIBORD is amazing and sharp clear even over long distances underwater. When snorkeling I would often see things that my partner (wearing the SEAVIEW) wasn't able to see. One time it was a giant barracuda at around 20m distance (attached on the photo). I was able to spot it in my TRIBORD, but my partner only saw it later on the pictures. The TRIBORD mask doesn't get scratched, and that is part of the reason why it fares so well. SEAVIEW's curved lens got scratched all over pretty quickly.
NO FOGGING: Breathing in TRIBORD is easy through the nose or through the mouth. No fogging at all. In fact I was even able to talk while wearing this mask, and there was still no fogging. Panting, fast and strenuous swimming, and diving = still no fogging. SEAVIEW was just as good at the beginning, but 3 snorkeling sessions later it started to fog very badly. As we later discovered, it happened because the rubber lining on SEAVIEW got tiny tears that leaked water and affected temperature inside the mask (thus, producing condensate).
COMFORT: The TRIBORD mask is incredibly comfortable, especially when compared to standard (non-full-face) masks. It keeps water out very well (I had no problem with leaking water either while swimming or while diving). It is easy to put on, and it stays in place firmly. Its only drawback is that the mask is pressed against the face too much (and the pressure increases when you dive). Thus, if you snorkel for too long and do it day after day (as we did on our snorkeling trip), your chin and jaw will hurt from applying pressure on them every day. Mine hurt quite a bit for a couple of days after this vacation. This, however, was NOT too much of an inconvenience (again, especially compared to standard masks where you have to constantly clench your jaws to bite on the breathing tube). SEAVIEW was just as comfortable.
GREAT QUALITY: The TRIBORD mask (mine, at least) is very well-made. The rubber parts feel good, high quality, and durable. The plastic parts feel solid as well. All the valves are in place and function wonderfully. My only concern (and so far it didn't come true) is that the breathing tube will break in the place where it attaches to the mask. To attach it, you have to "click" it on, matching a hole on the breathing tube to a plastic knob on the mask. The "click-on" lock is pretty tight, and the breathing tube's plastic seems rather thin. I can imagine it cracking in the future, so perhaps it makes sense to order replacement breathing tubes right away.
SEAVIEW's plastic and rubber parts feel cheaper when compared to the TRIBORD. Also as I mentioned earlier, my partner's SEAVIEW got torn (rubber) and started leaking water after just 3 days of snorkeling.
CONCLUSION: the TRIBORD is a great mask, perhaps, the best one on the market. As any product it has its flaws (because of the pressure it applies to your face, it can hurt your face after prolonged use), but its advantages far outweigh those - especially when compared to other masks on the market. It is well made, it is easy and comfortable to use, and the experience and views are amazing. It also wins when compared to a (last generation curved lens) SEAVIEW: views, quality of details and durability are better on the TRIBORD. In general, an advice for all those who (like my partner) is looking for a curved lens: in our experience the flat lens is much better. I'm guessing that's the reason why all the full-face mask brands switched from curved lenses to flat lenses.
(this is an honest comparison; my partner & I paid for both masks in full)
CONSIDER COMMUNICATION NEEDS (ESP. BEGINNERS) BEFORE BUYING this fabulous product

This is an amazing product! Works extremely well; surprisingly does not need any form of anti-fogging (yay no spitting!) because it actually defogs itself. So nice to not have the big cumbersome mouthpiece of traditional snorkel sets, and I really appreciate not having the pressure around my eyes and sinuses. Works great in calm waters. Interestingly, it often felt just a tiny bit loose, so I kept expecting water to leak in a bit, but it stayed totally dry. Also, just seems way less gross for sharing gear. My family was taking turns heading out snorkeling from the beach with the older kids, so I could pass along this equipment without handing over something all slobbery (never liked the idea of sharing a mouthpiece, even it has supposedly been washed)
That said, there are a few disadvantages to this style, so I will also keep my old traditional snorkeling gear for certain circumstances:
Because it has a much larger surface area, it is a bit more prone to being yanked around by large waves, either in generally rough water or getting past surf. Also You can't dive down more than about 3 feet with this mask because it holds so much air.
*******BUT THE BIG CHALLENGE IS COMMUNICATION. Above water, you have to take the mask completely off to be heard by anyone you are snorkeling with. Even if you are only a foot away, as it is impossible to be heard while talking in this mask. It can be annoying to have to completely remove this very large mask just to tell your snorkel buddy to say "hey check out that octopus hiding under that ledge", when they can't tell what you are pointing at. Getting this large cumbersome mask back on after just a sentence or two is challenging while treading water and getting sprayed with ocean in the face.
AS CONVENIENT AS THIS STYLE WOULD LOOK FOR BEGINNERS I WOULD STILL ENCOURAGE ANYONE NEW TO SNORKELING TO START WITH A TRADITIONAL SET, PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF THE COMMUNICATION ISSUE. I also got one for my 7-year-old kid because I knew the mouthpiece of a traditional set would be hard for her, but ended up having her use a traditional set because you need to be able to explain "my flipper is falling off" or "I'm getting tired" to your snorkel buddy without struggling to take off your mask, and then getting ocean water in your eyes and mouth. For parents taking kids out, not being able to communicate with your kids easily is frustrating, so even experienced snorkeling parents may want to wear their old sets when helping young kids and flip to this extremely comfortable alternative when the kids are on the beach.
Awesome! I could snorkel all day with this!

This is awesome! Using a traditional snorkel is a little claustrophobic for me. I loved this! You can just breathe normal. It works great. It does make things look a lot closer than they actually are. It doesn't allow water in if you dunk the snorkel part under water, but it did freak me out the first I did because all the sudden you just can't breathe, not necessarily a bad thing bc you don't get a mouthful of salt water, but just a little freaky. You can't dive with this because it doesn't equalize like a regular snorkel, so you have to stay at the top, which I was totally ok with. Didn't fog up at all, we went to two different places and didn't fog up when I took it off and then put it back on (I didn't use any anti-foggy anything on it).
Visibilty plus comfort

This clear full-face mask is fantastic. I purchased for an upcoming snorkeling trip in Belize and have been practicing with this mask-- just to get use to it-- in our retirement community's pool. I like it 100% better than the tradition eye/nose mask and
mouth snorkel. The Tribord is easy to adjust; no seepage the first time I wore it, no fogging, and extremely wide visibility. Be sure to order the right size! My small fits perfectly.
Best mask ever!

I love to snorkel, but I never had good luck getting a mask to fit right. They always leaked or fogged up and I was constantly having to stop and take it off, rinse it out, and put it back on (without getting my hair caught in the horrible plastic straps). The old snorkels made my jaws hurt from gripping between my teeth and I don't think I ever completed a snorkeling excursion without swallowing at least one gulp of seawater (GAG!) This mask solves all those problems. It fits securely around your face and over your nose to seal out all water. The only time I had a slight leak was when I caught my bangs under the seal. The mask never steamed up and since the snorkel is built into the mask, I never swallowed any water. The straps that go around your head are soft, fabric-like elastic bands which are comfortable and don't get caught in your hair. I was able to snorkel for 4 hours without any problems. Also, I bought myself a M/L based on the measurements and it fit great, but one day I was snorkelling with another friend and gave her my mask and used another friends S/M. Although it did push down on my nose a little, I was still able to use it with no problems. Highly recommend!
Snorkel tube disconnected and was lost!

Great mask at first, have used it for two snorkel trips and have had several friends buy this mask on my recommendation after trying mine. You cannot breathe very deeply in this mask so you're trading good visibility and general comfort for the inability to swim fast enough to need deeper breaths.
However, very sad to report that on day one of my present vacation the snorkel disconnected and was lost in the water. So now I have no snorkel to use on my trip for the next week, feel this snorkel is potentially dangerous (this also happened to my SO with his mask when he first bought his but we thought it might have been user error and he was able to save the snorkel attachment) and I feel that I've recommended unsafe equipment for my friends. A smart and considerate design addition (that most snorkel masks already employ) would be having it anchored to the mask with a rubber leash to prevent losing the snorkel in the water if it detaches since it does not float.
Tried to contact #Tribord through their website to address this issue and inquire about a replacement piece but they do not have a contact section.
Overall very disappointed and hope that #Tribord fixes this design flaw and sends me a replacement piece. This mask was too expensive to only get a couple of weeks use from!
Great mask, great value

I bought this specifically for my recent trip to the Bahamas and it was worth every penny.
VALUE - As I'm new to snorkeling I didn't want to buy top of the line equipment and I was worried this moderate price would mean poor quality. Not so! Everything feels sturdy, durable, and well made.
FIT - I selected my size based on the size chart and it fit perfectly. The gasket was nice and snug but not at all uncomfortable. I also love the strap material - it doesn't snag and break hair like a typical rubber strap. Very useful for ladies/girls with long hair.
FUNCTION - As described, you can breathe through your nose or mouth, no special breathing techniques required. I was skeptical about the back-flow valve, but it works perfectly. I didn't dive much, but I am really bad about see something interesting and looking too far down, dipping the snorkel under the surface. With a traditional snorkel I would have to clear it, but that's not necessary anymore.
My husband tried the mask, too, and he was able to snorkel comfortably even with a beard. The gasket couldn't get a perfect seal, but the water that did leak in gathered at the chin without disrupting his vision or breathing.
VISIBILITY - I love having the wide viewing area. So much better than a flat mask, with thick frame and nose piece. The viewing area is very clear as well.
SMELL - the one down side is that the mask has a strong plastic smell when it first arrives - definitely overwhelming if you were to be wearing the mask. If you have a trip coming up, order this ahead of time and allow it to off-gas for several days or weeks.
Best snorkeling experience ever.

Got these masks for our whole family to go to Costa Rica. In the past, all of us have gone on snorkeling trips that have included a lot of struggling to keep masks from leaking and fogging up, and swallowing a fair amount of saltwater through the snorkel. Some family members don't feel really comfortable in the water, especially when they swallow saltwater, so I got these masks as a Christmas surprise, before heading out on an epic snorkeling trip. I can't believe the difference they make. We were with a guided tour and everyone else used traditional snorkeling masks provided by the company. Every time I looked up, I saw countless other snorkelers with their heads up, treading water and trying to clear their snorkels and their masks. They missed a lot of the snorkeling. I was able to breath comfortably through my nose or mouth, and never had any fogging or leaking of my mask. I also never got any saltwater in my mouth. I didn't remove my mask once, during a full hour of snorkeling, and felt completely relaxed and peaceful for the first time ever while snorkeling.
We went to another location on a different day, and were able to have a very enjoyable snorkel experience, even without using fins. It was completely relaxing to continually float and look in the water without any struggling.
We went by the suggested measurement of distance from the bridge of your nose to chin, so my daughter had a M/L and I had a S/M, and they both fit well. Because of the difficulty finding available sizes at Christmas time, I got a different brand of L/XL for the guys in the family, but they had a great experience also. I will never go back to using the "traditional", old fashioned snorkel equipment. These masks are a revelation!
