BUYER BEWARE!
by Apple Angel (1 out of 5 stars)

Only received 30 items in total. 6 of them being umiabo's (even though your description only said it would be 3) which I can get for less than 15 cents a piece! I feel very ripped off. Smaller pieces of candy, and something that smelled so putrid we had to discard of it outside to avoid the house smelling so bad. No gummies were included, no chocolate pieces, Yagai Pencil Calpas Semidry Sausage was not included, Baby Star Crispy Noodle Snack (Chicken) not included. Whatever came in this package is the putrid item, I DO NOT SUGGEST YOU OPEN THIS! If you do dare, do so in a well-ventilated area or even better outside. Everything included is pretty much just a mix of stuff you can buy at your local Asian market all for under $5.00 I wouldn't waste my time or money on this product ever again. Definitely, don't purchase as a gift, it will embarrass you.

Awesome purchase! Better than any monthly subscription out there!!
by Felly (5 out of 5 stars)

I love it! It took a little long but still earlier than the expected date. I think it took about a month while the expected date was a month and a half. Anyway, I have videos of the wonderful snacks but can't seem to figure out how to post it here so you guys just have to take my words when I say this was a great purchase. If you all know that there are subscription boxes of japanese snacks out there but I always find them to be too expensive for the amount of snacks they gave. I recently purchases a subscription box for just one month and it cost me $30 for 15 snacks. It was not that worth it in my opinion especially if you can get something like this off amazon. I purchased this from amazon when it was on sale (I got it when it was $12) and I got A LOT of snacks. My favorite snack in there was the mini dorayaki with a chocolate filling. Yummm... all the snacks are in small packages, they aren't like full servings (idk if that makes sense) they are more in a sample sizes. But I still think it was a great purchase. My 19 month old got too excited opening the package and eating all the candies haha.

Stale. Not at all what I wanted.

Came with some nice stuff, but all the crackers were super stale, a lot of the candy was kinda melty and sticky... Oh, and none of the items pictured or mentioned in the description arrived. It came in a plastic bag, not a package like shown.

Disappointing
by Jason (1 out of 5 stars)

Disappointing. Nothing like the pic. Too many of the same product and many broken. Half the size of the displayed pic. Also every corn stick snack was out of day by a few days(sadly there are 8 of them with doubles of 2 flavors). Would strongly recommend buying from another seller.

Several issues with this purchase. I should have checked the most recent reviews. The item description and photos lead you to believe you will get a large bag of snacks and colorful products. This is no longer the case. I got 33 out of the 34 pack. Only 10 of which I am satisfied filled the item description. 11 "snacks" are bland, cheap rice snacks with no flavor. I lived in Japan for 6 months, and these rice snacks come in a 25 bag for $1.00. They taste good if you are sick with a flu, and that's about it. 6 of these bland rice snacks were BROKEN into a bag of chunks and crumbs. The rest of the 12 "snacks" were single wrapped hard candy or single wrapped pieces of gum. Seriously? Single gum? Image opening a Christmas stocking, and you took out a few single wrapped spearmints or a handful of chiclets. This service may have been good once, but you can tell this is now a profit circle, where the seller buys dollar store items and splits them between boxes. If I were to guess, this $17.99 box is worth 500¥ (or $5.00 American dollars.) I would know because I lived off of dollar store food for the entire 6 months in Osaka.

Best dagashi so far
by KitchenWitch (5 out of 5 stars)
September 16, 2017

Awesome selection of products for the price! The package arrived well ahead of schedule. The treats were packed individually with care into a plain cardboard box, and all of them were fresh. I've tried other dagashi, and I was quite pleased with the variety of items, and the novelty of some of the more unusual ones. I found the initial taste of the pickled plum (umeboshi) to be god-awful. I mean seriously bad to my unaccustomed taste buds. It was sour and extremely salty and oh boy was it pungent! But I'd never leave a negative review just because I didn't enjoy the taste of a particular item that was foreign to me, and in any case, I finished the plum in spite of the taste. By the end, the taste actually sort of grew on me, and I've since ordered more umeboshi because of their purported health benefits.

The only thing I couldn't finish was this stick of a blue jelly-like substance. One reviewer had said to put it in the fridge, which I did. It changed the consistency from gloppy to more firm and mucousy, like edible slime. The taste wasn't bad, but the texture was an epic fail for me. But even then I had fun with it. I'd been coercing my mother, who is very skeptical of anything new, to try some of the snacks with me. She was a good sport, even about the plum, but she flat-out refused to try the jelly once she saw the consistency, and actually ran away! I had a ton of fun chasing my 70-year-old mother through the house, wiggling the slime at her, both of us laughing, until she finally gave in and took a *tiny* bite. She didn't enjoy it any more than I did, of course, but I sure enjoyed watching her expressions!

The description stated that you'll receive 34 items. Being a stickler for detail I carefully counted everything upon opening, and was pleasantly surprised to count 35. And aside from the jelly loogie (and the initial taste of the plum), I enjoyed everything. This selection had plenty of umaibo (those cheese-puff-like corn sticks, which I LOVE), and a few other things I'd had before like a chocolate-filled marshmallow puff which I also love, but plenty of new things I'd never tried. I enjoyed them all, and found some new favorites, like a macha tea biscuit which was just heavenly. (And incidentally, my mother really enjoyed the candy cigarettes, and even ate an extra one of her own volition! Yay mom! :D)

And because of the quantity, I enjoyed almost a week of snacky goodness, which is quite a deal for the price I paid of $14.99 with free shipping. I'll definitely be purchasing this again, and I'd highly recommend this particular selection to anyone trying dagashi for the first time, as well as seasoned dagashi purchasers who might find something new in the mix, as I did. I've enjoyed every dagashi I've tried, but this has been my favorite so far, because of the perfect combination of familiar and new items. (I have yet to make a dagashi convert out of my mother, but I'm working on it! ;)

Novel, Fun, Sorta Tasty
by Michelle Bost (3 out of 5 stars)

There were a bunch of snacks and for the price that is awesome for sure. Also, there are many super unique flavors in there, some of them I still have no idea what it was. Very fun and novel but the snacks were not very good in my opinion. Maybe that's what's cheap and popular in Japan, but at least three things are corn flavored which is weird. Also the cigarettes are mint flavor and not a good mint flavor either, but cute packaging though. The sweet stuff was very meh, there was a really tasty cookie and marshmellow thingie but that weird fruit was strange. Its literally like a berry of some sort but the texture of a raw carrot and tasted sour and sweet. It wasn't awful but the texture was strange. I don't want to talk bad about it too much cause it was cute, fun and a great deal but I wasn't a fan of 60%ish of the flavors and snacks. I ordered another thing like this with less snack and that was tastier to me.
