Wow
by Janbro Munoz (5 out of 5 stars)

Regardless of the reviews I saw, I decided to purchase this device and wow. I'm amazed at the sound quality and volume this device can put out. The bass sound smooth, not like those cheapo speakers you'd usually get for a price like this. I did manage to snag this on a lightning deal and I am not regretting this purchase. Very portable (about the size of a water bottle and about the weight of one as well) so it fits in your bottle pocket on a bag or on your bike to listen to tunes while you ride. Had no issues connecting. The clip is a huge bonus so I can clip it and hang it almost anywhere. Only thing is the sound comes stronger out of one side than the other but sounds great all around it. Glad I got this

Dead on arrival, that's what happens for not chosing a known brand. [SEE UPDATE]
by Claum (5 out of 5 stars)
July 23, 2015

First time I get a dead product, not really liked the experience, where is QA department on this company, yes the product is not really expensive but it still costs money, one thing I can say is that the bottom cap which makes this product waterproof is not that tight, not sure if it would have been able to take a bike ride under heavy rain, would have tried it out though, but who knows maybe it was for the best.
[UPDATE AUGUST 12TH 2015]

After my negative experience I got contacted by the Alpatronix, I actually didn't answer my phone on 3 occasions and they insisted and sent me an email, and they apologized and offered a free of charge replacement, they sent it over and I got it a few days ago.

So far so good, is a really nice speaker, you could say there is no distortion at the max volume, there are some barely noticeable loss but you need to have a pretty good ear to catch it, only one out of 6 friends notice them. if you use this for a pool party at max no one will notice, is a subjective thing at the end of the day. but I have had several similar speakers and usually if it distort is pretty noticeable which is not the case with this one.

Fits perfectly on my bike bottle holder, to be honest I have not used it for bike rides much because the thing is pretty loud and people look at me like a crazy person, especially since they have no idea where the sound is coming from, and if I lower the volume the wind doesn't let you appreciate the music so much, but that's a personal thing, maybe I'll stop caring and will just ride on with loud music, have not tested the water resistance yet, will wait to be caught in the rain and see if it holds I think it should hold the seal seems like it would hold, if it is on a bottle holder the ports will be facing the floor so is gonna be hard for water to go against the seal and then gravity. once I test the water resistance I will give it an extra star (assuming it survives heavy rain)
[UPDATE JULY 10TH 2017]

Two years have passed and this speaker has outlived a couple other big brand speakers I had, sound is still crisp, battery still holds the charge strong, and it does survive bike riding when raining, so updating to 5 stars for durability customer service and overall quality.

I HIGHLY recommend this great sound device!

I got this Bluetooth waterproof speaker Model AX410 for use on our boat when we go fishing. It rains often here in WA, so I thought I'd try this waterproof unit. Was I ever blown away! my niece has (had) a waterproof unit (a different Brand one) as well and it didn't have any sound output to even write home about. It lasted less than 3 weeks and one day we found it in the bottom of the pool at the local YMCA! it leaked and filled with water, and sank! The seller, after much Hemming, and Hawing, shipped her a new replacement (exchange). You guessed it! it sank again but only after a few days use.

This unit, the AX410 , Sounds like those small BOSE units but at far less money spent to buy it! The bass and volume it puts out is simply put, "AWESOME"! People ask where the sound is coming from when we just go cruizing, and getting the boat for our up-and-coming Salmon season. They don't believe when I point to the little thing on the dashboard LOL Many had to get next to the boat and have me hold the unit near them before they believed... Of course, asking "how much, and where from" ? It's just THAT good! Pairing with the iPhone took all of 25 seconds too.

The buttons are on the top and easily accesible if needed
by BK (4 out of 5 stars)
February 7, 2018

I have a number of various BT speakers and welcomed to chance to review another one. I am also an Alpatronix customer for a number of their devices. The speaker is a very reasonable size. Not too large by any means and not extremely heavy either. The buttons are on the top and easily accesible if needed. I love the carabiner additional and believe it will be very useful to hook to a book bag, to just hang somewhere outside if needed or even to my belt buckle.

The location of the charging port is on the bottom of the speaker. I'm not so sure this is the best location. Yes, you can lay it on its side and still use it, but as I do with my other speakers, I like to stand them up as I like the sound better that way. The rubber "flap" over it doesn't seem too secure very well either. It could be just that it is new, but if I want to use this on my kayak down the springs, I'm not sure how well it would protect to charging port.

Overall though, well made device. Few minor changes and it will be a 5 star review!

Solid portable bluetooth speaker.
by Mike (4 out of 5 stars)
February 14, 2018

This is a solid speaker package. It has plenty of volume (the Beatles sounded very good on this) and the BlueTooth paired quickly with my Motorola phone. I like the speaker sitting on its end as the sound seems a bit directional out of one side or the other, so on its end, I can position it for best directional sound where I am sitting.

The advertisement says that it is waterproof, but I would say more like splash resistant. The rubber flap that covers the charging port must be open for either charging or connecting the included sound cable (Male to Male 3.5 mm cable). This speaker will work with BlueTooth with the end flap closed as the power and sound level buttons and mute button are on the opposite end. Once done with the cable connections, you must be sure to properly seat the rubber flap back into position to protect the ports.

It is about as big around as a can of soda, about 1.5 times as high, and the weight is a little bit more than a can of soda (15.25 oz). If you want to use this while riding a bike, it should fit nicely in the water bottle holder. There is a small spring loaded carabiner that can slip onto a loop built into the speaker frame (plastic) that could then be used to secure the speaker to the water bottle holder so it won't bounce out onto the trail or road.

I like this BlueTooth speaker. The sound level is certainly adequate for a portable speaker, the sound quality is good to my untrained ear, and it appears to be able to take a few knocks if you were to take it camping. I don't think I would leave it out in a rain storm or dunk it in water, but it might survive a light mist.

There are only volume controls, no bass or treble, so it is a good thing it is dialed into the range that I happen to like (90 Hz to 20 KHz)! If there were adjustments for bass and treble it would be a 5 star speaker.

Surprisingly fantastic sound from a mind-blowingly inexpensive waterproof bluetooth speaker.

UPDATE: I tried using this as a TV speaker to watch TV. We watched Black Panther with it the other night. We have a Roku player and using the Roku iPhone remote app with private listening, hooked up the player to my iPhone Bluetooth, and the sound was amazing. The speaker sat on the headboard above and behind us. Now, bear in mind the headboard is a bit padded, so that added to the quality, but if yours is wood, setting it on a towel would do the same thing if it rattled at all. (I have not heard it rattle anywhere yet, though. It kind of rubberized feeling.) You have to get this thing. It is so versatile. Again, because I was running it through the phone, I was able to adjust the EQ.

PROS:

I am excited about this excellent speaker. Thought, care, planning, and quality went into this product, even the packaging. Everything is put together in a functional way. The fantastic speaker, just like the precise packaging is amazing.

It fits very well in my bike bottle carrier and on my saddlebags. The mesh bag is padded and a handy way to carry this sturdy speaker. It is heavy, but not too heavy to carry easily and weighted enough to add to the sound quality, giving the bass depth without rattling.

They pack all this quality into the speaker with all the finesse they fit all the stuff so cleanly and safely into the box. These people are smart thinkers. They also think with a budget in mind, at least with this product. It is solid and of very good quality; it is priced very affordably for this much sound quality. We live in a one bedroom apartment, and it is really all we need for the whole place. They redefine economy. In a time when people justify spending twice or three times what something is worth because it makes them feel better about themselves, these people make and sell something worth twice what they sell it for. I love their style. It makes me feel good about myself and them when I get a good deal like this. It will be handy to take to the beach or on other trips. The clarity is good enough to listen to audiobooks in our car. We have an older vehicle without Apple play. This sounds better than using Bluetooth through an FM player for sure.

UPDATE: They seem to have a very interested and attentive Customer Service Department and a full year warranty. SO, I rally don't expect anything to go wrong that I can't have handled.

CONS:

None yet.

Good solid speaker at great value.
by Peter R (4 out of 5 stars)

I was looking for a waterproof bluetooth speaker and have ordered from Alpatronix before so decided I would give their product a try. As usual with their products, it came in a nice box and was packaged well. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it comes with a mesh carry bag. It also comes with a carabiner to attach it to things which is great, but the carabiner itself could have been a little bigger and stronger.

The speaker itself is about the size and shape of a small water bottle as part of the idea is that it could be put in a bottle holder on a bike. It feels solid but is light weight.

It was easy to setup and use the first time. There are volume buttons, a power buttons and a play/pause button on the top. The rubber cover on the bottom opens for the usb port and an aux port.

The speaker provides a decent level of sound, although the dynamic range is a little less than I would like, so the sound felt a llttle compressed.

Overall, I really like the speaker, especially it's functionality and ease of use. And at the price point, I would definitely recommend this as a basic bluetooth speaker.

Overall good for playing music and not worrying about splashes
by vizwhiz (4 out of 5 stars)
June 26, 2016

Summary:

Bought this primarily to overcome the weaknesses of iPhone and iPad speakers when playing music, in combination with being able to take it places where the occasional water splash might happen, such as outdoors on the patio or to work in the yard, in the bathroom during shower, etc. For that, it seems to work as well as I'd hoped. It has a few quirks that I would like to change, but overall they aren't deal-breakers.

Sound Specifics:

The music can get loud enough that you can't talk comfortably to another person without shouting if it was positioned, for example, on the counter next to you both, or on the table you were sitting across. The quality of sound is very good on Bluetooth. (I have not tried the AUX cord because I bought it specifically to use wirelessly.) I have read reviews of other devices (not this brand) that had a hissing noise when on Bluetooth - this one does not have any such issue, from what i can tell. The sound is clear and there is no noticeable background noise. On iOS device, phone and speaker volumes are supposed to be linked (speaker controls should change phone volume setting at same time). However, even on latest iOS they act independently, as the instructions describe for Android devices. Doesn't really bother me, but we tend to leave the speaker volume all the way up and control it with the phone or iPad instead of trying to use the speaker controls. We have used it a lot to just have "music in the room", leaving it on a counter top or dresser as we walk around the house or patio doing other things. It is loud enough, and quality is good enough, that it is not overpowering in that service. It isn't "loud" in that service, meaning you won't be shaking the window panes with it, but it certainly fills the room.

Bluetooth:

To indicate Bluetooth connections, it uses a couple of different sound "blings". We still haven't figured out exactly what happens with each one, but we're getting closer. We DO know that if you don't play any music to it for a relatively short period of time, it shuts off. This is annoying. For example, playing music, all okay. Get a phone call. Pause the music. Talk 15 or 20 minutes. After the phone call, the speaker has disconnected and shut down. You have to go push the button on the speaker again to bring it back to life so it will reconnect with the iPad and you can play music again. I suppose it saves battery, but it is an annoying "feature" that I'd like to have the ability to change - at least be able to adjust the time before it shuts off. Not a deal-breaker, but a minor annoyance, especially if you're bundled up on the couch with your "stuff" and the speaker is "over there" on the kitchen counter. I took off part of a start because of this.

It connects in standard Bluetooth protocol, to the last device it was connected to. We have three devices we play to it from - two iPhones and one iPad. What this means is that we often have to manually disconnect the last phone or the iPad that was connected to the device if we're not trying to use that same device to play from. Again, a slight annoyance, but would be the same with any Bluetooth device that you use with multiple sources.

Hands-Free Phone Use:

We have only tried it a couple times with the iPhones trying to use it as a hands-free speakerphone when on phone calls. So far, our experience has not been very good. The person on the other end gets echo and the microphone apparently has trouble picking up what we are saying. The pick up wasn't much better than using the iPhone itself, and the other person got such poor quality, we just disconnected and went back to the phone each time. So we'll have to try it a few more times before we firm up our opinion of it for hands-free, but so far not very good. But since we didn't really buy it for that specifically, it isn't putting us out very much. I took off part of a star for this, and if someone had purchased it specifically for this purpose, it might have been worth losing several stars.

Perfect addition to an audiophile's portable listening!
by SCOTT. S (5 out of 5 stars)

Magic little tube of musical fun! Charge it up and go. The sound quality is spectacular for it's size, when you match it up with a good equalizer, you can't beat the sound. And I haven't yet had to recharge it, nor found the outer range of the bluetooth as it provides clear sound without drop outs. Wife even asked if I would use this instead of my $1000 headphones (I really love my headphones). Wouldn't go that far, but it's sound is better than most $300 soundbars! Better sound than any portable radio out today, of course, boom boxes are better and louder. For overall frequency range, it puts out great levels throughout the range. The on/off sounds are cool. Haven't tried out the waterproof feature yet, but the rubber case makes drops softer and less likely to damage the case or speakers.

Update. One year later. I have changed from five to four star.

OMG!! This is the greatest blue tooth speaker I've ever had. The volume and sound quality is fantastic! I can put it on the deck and garden, swim in the pool, and hear it a good 35 feet away from my cell phone without any problem, and can put it in the house and hear it clearly in all the rooms on the first floor. The design is great, except that the plug does go in the bottom, would have been better on the side, but this is just a design issue, which isn't an issue, just not the most convenient. I liked it so much that within a week I ordered another for a friend. May order more for holiday gifts...that's how much I like it. The price is wonderful and I hope that a year from now I can still write the same review. The battery does last 8 hours (or more?), and my friend uses it for her Bluetooth in her car, because she has an older model and it works well. Bag contains a patch cord the USB charging cord.... It Would have been nice if they included the dc plug, but I use my iPhone plug , but for the price and quality, no complaints! I am very happy with this speaker...10 watts of totally cool and loud sound without distortion. Peace. UPDATE ONE YEAR LATER....it just stopped working. Just ceased to work. I never warranteed it ....my bad...I DID just order another one because it IS a great speaker, but this time I went for the 2 year warrantee and sure hope it lasts more than one year. Peace.
