Poor manufacture control

Like most everyone else on this site, I really wanted to love this product. When it came, the direction were clear and seemed simple enough to put together. I started and realized that nothing aligned, the legs were crooked and I couldn't put it together. I was incredibly disappointed. Once my husband got home, he told me he could fix it and proceeded to take the ENTIRE garden apart (things that came preassembled) and drill, saw and tweak it so it could fit together. Yes, I was worried that once he did this, I would not be able to return it, however he is very handy. Well, after 2 hours of work, he got the garden together and it functioned as stated. I am frustrated because my husband shouldn't have to spend that kind of time fixing production issues. Yes, I planned to send it back and try for a replacement, but my husband mentioned there was no guarantee that the next one would arrive with better construction.

Bottomline, probably not worth the money unless you are REALLY handing at problem-solving and rebuilding.

Having become addicted to fresh basil over the summer, we needed a basement raised version for the colder months. The quantity buyable in the grocery store just isn't enough. This is deep, holds plenty of water, and is maintenance free. With some LED lights and a timer, this is a self operating echo system. Just add some water every couple of weeks.

In terms of build, this is a solid formed plastic container which matches up perfectly with the pictures. Easy to assemble. Not a whole lot too it. Pricing seems pretty high given what it cost to produce, but there are no comparable competitors. These can interconnect to share the water reservoir. I only bought one so I can't speak to how well that works, but the parts are included and look fairly straightforward.

I bought this to use indoors this spring when I felt the Spring Fever hit me. I'd really like three of them to sit along full length windows in my living room but thought I'd try one for now. It was easy to assemble. So far I am unable to comment directly on the full capability of it to self-water since i planted seeds (spinach and basil) in it which you have to keep moist from the surface. In a few weeks when things have taken root, i'll do an update. It looks clean and classy. (a few friends have been intrigued and interested in getting one). I do wish it came in a selection of colors as I have zero stark white in my decor and live in predominantly warm hued brick and wooden home. No matter, still seems to be a great way to add fresh herbs/food to my indoor gardening. Also, No leaks upon filling the reservoir.

I really wanted to like these ...

We purchased four of these for our deck a year and a half ago. We liked the sleek appearance and self watering feature. Have had very good luck with self watering containers for my tomatoes so these seemed like a no brainer.

They arrived and we were impressed. Loved the styling, construction seemed solid and they were easy to set-up.

The first problems arose after they were put together. Of the four planters only two of the water "gauges" worked. Since they were all in the same location we figured we could live with that since we had two that worked that we could gauge the others from. Then it was impossible to keep all of the green overflow bins attached. At least 50% of them would fall off repeatedly. Since the planters were outdoors, this again wasn't a big deal but a definite "no go" if you are planning on using them indoors.

Now 18 moths later three of the four leak from the bottom of the planter (not the overflow mind you). The reservoirs leak rendering the self-watering feature useless. In addition the sides of the planters are beginning to bow out detracting from the appearance. Given the price I can not begin to tell you how disappointed we are. Given the hot climate we are in these were saving me from having to water every day ... not anymore.

Broken out of the Box!!
by TCA (1 out of 5 stars)

Well...I bought this about a year ago but never took it out of the box. Today I finally got around to unboxing and setup. During assembly I discovered the water level indicator float was broken. Water level indication was the primary reason I purchased this product. I attempted to call the phone number for the US office and I get a message "the number can not be completed as dialed." I've also emailed the US office so I'll see if I get a response.

Good news is that packaging was great and assembly is easy. Bad news (so far) is a primary component (which is sealed inside the base and assembled by the manufacturer) was delivered broken.

Since I got this a year ago I'll probably be out of luck for repair. If they fix the problem I will consider changing my rating for this product.

Grows itself

I wanted a planter I could easily grow some annual herbs and not worry about space in my raised beds. Well I started with cilantro because in Sicily it's not always available and that, for a Californian, is unacceptable. I take a lot of trips so I didn't want to come home to wilted plants and I'm so happy with this. The picture is in February, after a cold winter and heavy, heavy winds. I often forget for a week or more at a time to fill the reservoir with water but it holds gallons, so all good. I've overfilled once and I'd just recommend getting a feel for how much it holds because the overflow cartridges are small. The first time you fill, pour a bit at a time and wait a couple minutes. ALSO when you decide where to put it make sure it's level so both overflow tanks to be utilized, especially important on patios and indoors. Great design, I really wish they had more planter types/sizes.

Bought this planter because we often leave for a week at a time and didn't want our plants dying. This planter kept my plants alive for the entire week. Easy to put together and looks great! Will definitely buy more.

I'm completely in love with this planter

This is SO cool! I'm using it for wheatgrass, but inside or outside, this makes a really cool conversation piece. Very cool! I have absolutely zero talent for growing anything, but this planter makes it foolproof- it tells you when you've added enough water, it has overfill reservoirs - so if you add too much water it won't get the floor wet, and you can expand or add more units together if you want more than one. REALLY well thought out!
