I know what your thinking the same as I was that the price is high compared to most other small kits. But I promise you when u receive it you will change your mind. First the cylinder/flashlight is very heavy duty. It's built like a tank and it's bigger than I thought it would be but not in a bad way it's the perfect size for the gear and easy to pack. They really put a lot of thought into this all the items are of use in a survival situation without a bunch of junk that is useless like most kits have. I will update my review after I test everything in the kit. All the items seems quality made even down the the candle with a hefty 6 hour burn time. First impressions are I wouldn't trade this for 100 of those small China made survival kits that you find everywhere that the only thing in them useful is a pencil to write your last will and a farewell to your family because it's not going to be much use in a real life or death emergency.

Quality is great, and it really is a nice design. It feels solid and well-machined.

My complaint is that the flashlight button is so easy to push that it turns itself on when we put it in a backpack or when it sits on a table and rolls onto the button. And batteries are an odd size...I understand they had to pick batteries that fit the size of the device, but it makes it harder to find replacements.

A recessed button for the flashlight would make this thing 4.5 stars.

Standard batteries would make it a 5.

The kit offers a 1 stop survival shop, or in other words a self contained basic survival kit. The housing is solid and each of the canisters is refillable. The light is much brighter than I thought it would be but, I did leave the batteries out for leakage reasons. The compass is slow but accurate and easy to read. Overall, it is a great fit with my other go-bag items, one with I hope I never need but is worth the price.

I bought this kit for my husband for our 10 year anniversary. We did the whole tin/aluminum traditional theme. My husband is a bit of a gadget and camping geek so this was perfect for him. He spent a few hours just opening each item to see everything in each canister and was like a little kid opening up presents on Christmas. Hopefully, if he ever has to use any of the items, they'll do what they're supposed to do. It seems to be a quality, well built item.

Excellent item for everyone who carries a backpack should own one of these. Have not had the occasion to use it other than the tourch.

I really like the light and the casing they are functional and good quality! the trail markers was a nice touch it was the only thing in the kit I didn't really have as for the contents other then the saw I found them to be a bit cheap and a little lacking I would recommend looking at gear pods or doing your own if you are looking for the complete kit or getting the empty VSSL Flashlight and adding your own version of a survival kit.

Bought this for my son but I'm getting one just for the flashlight. It saved by butt walking on black ice. It has a wide even clear light dispersion. Better than anything else I currently own.
