Need improvement.

Difficult to use, non-standard tripod mount makes it useless for any other tripod then the cheap one included. They'd be better off leavoing out the tripod and making it a standard connector to use on any tripod.

Better for wait-and-shoot situations than spontaneous needs
by LegoGirl (3 out of 5 stars)

I received this lens/tripod kit free from the manufacturer in exchange for review.

The included case (you get 3 options) fit my iPhone 6 properly. The case is just a thin hard plastic shell; I doubt it would offer any protection in a fall, and since it does not wrap around the front at all you'll be laying the phone on its glass if you put it face-down. The lens easily screws onto the case, and that's it for the basic "install." If you add the tripod there's an extra ring you need to slip around the lens. The lens and tripod can be (very tightly) fitted into the enclosed carrying pouch.

I took pictures simply holding the phone in my hand, stabilizing it against an object, and with the tripod. I was unable to get a consistently clear picture holding the phone, because any movement at all jiggles the lens. Stabilizing the phone against an object improved the performance somewhat, but a truly clear zoomed picture was only possible using the tripod (and even using the tripod, windy conditions caused image blur).

The attached photo shows:
1. Un-zoomed iPhone snapshot
2. iPhone snapshot at maximum zoom
3. Snapshot with lens attached
4. Snapshot with lens attached and iPhone at maximum zoom

So, the lens absolutely does improve your ability to get a better far-away picture than your phone alone. I'm not sure whether or when I would find it convenient to use this product. For on-the-go situations, sporting events, concert, etc., it wouldn't be easy to quickly get the lens on and take a spontaneous non-shaky photo. But if you have the patience and environment to wait for a great shot, you could set up the tripod and take some very nice photos or video. I sat outside bird watching and took both video and photos that were wonderfully detailed.

Works nice

Really cool,,, Didnt know what to expect but it works really well with my I Phone 6 plus.. Its not something that you can have set up and ready to use in an instant, but just a neat tool to have and use. From 20-25 yards away, I could see a piece of tall grass waving in the breeze. I just got it today, and these are only my initial observations.

This is the coolest thing I have ever purchased. ...

This is the coolest thing I have ever purchased. I live on Lake Erie in Michigan and it was always hard to get close up pics of boats, light houses, ect. Now I can and with a clear picture.

Works well but at full zoom you need a tripod ...

Works well but at full zoom you need a tripod to get clear pics. Seem to have dust under the lense in the sealed part that cannot be cleaned.

But I love this lens

The item was delivered in a timely manner. I am concerned about the necessity to leave the camera hanging on the lens. For that reason, I prefer the set that offers a frame to hold the camera on the tripod. But I love this lens!

Great Telephoto Accessory for Most iPhones, but not 5C
by C Wm (Andy) Anderson (5 out of 5 stars)

I love each model of iPhone I've had, except for one point:

The inability to shoot distant pics that show decent detail. Unless, that is, one can find a decent attachable setup similar to this sweet device, the YOPO YP-TL00083 12X.

Mind you, I got this telephoto free, in exchange for an honest review. When I checked it out at Amazon, learning the selling price was less than $40, I figured it would probably underwhelm me. Glad to say, though, that I was wrong. It is excellent, and easy to use.

It is not quite ready for 5C, though, due, I guess, to the curvature in the body of the iPhone 5C. You can do it, but it may fall out of the frame provided that is needed because of the threaded connector. I still have my iPhone 5 that I use as an iPod, and as a camera when I don't feel like lugging my Canon EOS Rebel around. Still, I do wish they had a better fitting frame for 5C.

Also, bear in mind that the tripod is a cheap, mini tripod. I do think, though, that you could do a work around, makeshift, with only moderate effort and/or cost, to adapt this to a professional carbon tripod. At any event, it's worth trying.

I also suggest getting a Bluetooth remote such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1IBSHQCSRZZAS/ref=cm_cr_pr_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00QCIOCEO&tag=c-t-20

Again, I sincerely love this telephoto, giving me yet one more reason to upgrade to an iPhone 6+ as soon as I can scrape the funds together or move to an area covered by Sprint. Rural North Dakota is beautiful and worth the costs. Yet, getting great pics afield, especially of Bald Eagles, Painted Turtles sunning atop rocks in the James River or of that rare visit by a moose with a telephoto and posting immediately to Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook would be cool.

A cool way to get zoom images with your phone.

This is pretty cool. Not an incredible amount of zoom, but enough for wildlife photos or spying. When you are zoomed in, it can get really shaky, so the tripod really is helpful.
