A Police Officer complimented this light.
by M13804 (5 out of 5 stars)
July 8, 2016

This light is the brightest light I have ever bought. It is like a cars headlights it is so bright. It has a big bright spot in the middle, and floods extra light all around. I bought 2 of them, and both work flawlessly. I immediately removed the clip on the light because although it is a great, strong clip, I have never used them.

It feels great in the hand, has a nice weight to it. I am someone that likes to hold a flashlight in my mouth when doing work, and it has a great groove to bite onto. Probably not the best, but this light works for that purpose.

I know this is not sold as being waterproof, but possibly water resistant? I have dropped it in the lake more than once, and it's doing great still. The seals all have O-rings, and water really can't seep in unless you don't tighten it well.

I was at my cabin up north (michigan) and there was a fire and I called 9-1-1. When the police and Fire dept. arrived, they were impressed by the light, and were blown away when I told them it was less than $15. I chuckled because they have those big heavy flashlight that give off barely any light.

The only con is battery life. I sat and tested the light to see how long it lasted. I was using the Green Samsung 18650 batteries. The battery lasted 58:42 on one battery and 1:06:19 on another. They stayed bright up until they just died. For how powerful this light is, I was impressed with how long a battery did last.

I personally depend very heavily on reviews that are posted on Amazon, as do many other consumers. I not only read what reviewers say, but look to see what their pictures reveal about a products true quality and description. I aim to not only feature the products I review in many different aspects, analyzing many qualities, I also provide my own opinions on ALL the good AND bad experiences I have with the product I review. I take time to learn and use a product as it was intended before I review it, and I have used this specific product thoroughly.

My rating system:
5 - Met all my expectations. Was described and pictured perfectly. Exactly what I wanted and needed. Extremely useful product and a great value. Would recommend to family and friends.
4 - Very good product. Exactly as described. May have a minor flaw, mentioned in the review, that does not detract from the products perceived value. Would recommend to family and friends.
3 - Average product. Not exactly as described, or misleading advertising or product pictures. Possibly substandard build quality, or something else explained in the review. Would mention as an option to family and friends, but not recommend.
2 - Wouldn't recommend this product. Poor build quality, not close to being as described. Flimsy and fragile. Difficult to use due to product flaws.
1 - Do not purchase whatsoever. Usually only given if product lasts only a few hours/days/etc. I do not leave 1 star reviews without contacting the seller. I will be returning the product.

I did NOT receive ANY discount for this product. I simply enjoy reviewing every one of my purchases.

Highly recommended for Law Enforcement Gun Belts
by Chistopher Robertson (5 out of 5 stars)
June 15, 2017

I have been a Sheriff's Deputy for 18 years. I have a few suggestions for you fellow LEO brothers and sisters. When wearing a gun belt, pair this Skysted Flash Light with the Bianchi Accumold Elite 7926 Compact Light Holder (Plain Black , Size 2). It will be smaller and lighter in weight than the standard Stinger LED. The reduced weight will help for the 12-16 hour days/nights, and has helped me reduce back pain/irritation, especially if you opt for the Peerless ultra light handcuffs, which are also available on Amazon. I keep the "Issued Stinger Flash Light" in the Patrol Car for directing traffic/orange cone, and as a backup light. This Skysted light is also small enough to mount on any AR 15/M-16/long rifle/shotgun (with an adaptor). It does not have the annoying blinking option. It is a simple on/off light. Although it is small, it puts out some serious lumens/light and it is A LOT CHEAPER in price than some of the similar lights in the same lumens categories. My co-workers are jealous that I was able to buy this flashlight for a lot less than they paid for their flashlights. Just make sure to buy some quality/spare 18650 batteries and keep them in your patrol car. Charge the 18650 batteries on a high quality battery charger such as the Nitecore series (Vapers use those batteries and chargers a lot). This Skysted flashlight will be the last you will ever need, because you can switch out the batteries in seconds. Remember that 2 is 1 and 1 is none, so keep spare flashlights, batteries, backup guns, and a long gun available to you when patrolling. I am so impressed with this Skysted light that I have bought extras for my house and car as well.

Decent build quality but very high current draw.
by Ronco (3 out of 5 stars)
December 21, 2017

The flashlight appears to be built fairly well. It's beam has two distinct zones; a small very bright central spot and a large dimmer outer ring. This is quite helpful when walking around the woods at night. The outer zone illuminates right where you are walking the same time the spot zone is illuminating a distant object. The light output is respectable. A big negative is the current draw. I measured 2.5 amps with new 123 batteries. The current dropped about 0.1 A every 4 seconds. After a minute of use the batteries were very warm and their voltage had dropped from 3.25 to 2.70V. The manufacturer must use a very inefficient LED in this light. I wouldn't expect the light output to be usable after about 20-30 minutes of continuous use. I'm comparing this to two other tactical LED lights I have which draw 0.9A and 1.0A on full power while putting out visually equivalent light. It's a decent short trip light for running out to the shed or garage at night but I wouldn't rely on it for camping (would have to pack lots of batteries).

Bright light with a single click.
by JdoubleH (5 out of 5 stars)

Simple to operate single-mode, good bright light near and far, excellent all around for a very small price.

First off, I LOVE the single mode. I absolutely despise the five mode with two different blinking settings that most of these inexpensive Cree LED lights have. Outdoors or in a stress situation, I want bright light instantly without having to fiddle with it. This fits that bill perfectly. It's also by far the brightest XM-L flashlight I've purchased, and works well for distance and for near, wide area. It's so bright that if I had to fault it for anything, I would say the brightness can sometimes be overwhelming indoors. It is bright enough to affect your night vision bouncing back off of walls and other objects, but that means it's also good at overwhelming other's night vision, should that be your objective. All that brightness means higher current draw than others, which will of course come at the expense of run time. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. I've been using it with EBL 18650's and have not found the run time to be an issue (and hey- they're rechargeable). It does get a little warm when used continuously for an extended period, but not to the point of danger or discomfort.

I can't quantify the brightness, but I've bought numerous 502B style flashlights and a number of C8's and several zoom type ones over the last couple years. The distance throw is as good or better than all of the the C8 style and much better than the LE® 1000lm Rechargeable CREE XM-L2 T6 zoom light of which I have several. The C8 style are generally good at long distance throw, but I find them lousy for anything else. This one is great at all ranges. As a few others have mentioned, it projects at two ranges simultaneously with a mild cutoff between them, but it works fine and provides good distance throw and very usable near range at the same time. Unlike the LE zoomable ones, you have great peripheral illumination when looking in the distance too. The LE when focused for distance narrows to a small bright square with a really sharp cutoff. I bought this one at the same time as a FIXED Star 502B Tactical T6 LED, which is also single mode. The Skysted is quite a bit brighter, and the fit and finish are much better on this as well.

BRIGHT EVERY TIME
by Alaskan traveling south (5 out of 5 stars)
May 23, 2018

This light is very bright every time you press the on/off button. None of this pushing the button 3/4/5 times to make the beam of light bright. I have bought at least 4 different models of pocket flashlights that use the powerful 18650 battery and the single mode like this is the best AND the hardest to find. Why would you even want the multi mode light? When you are underground in old gold mines the LAST thing you need is a light that flashes on and off like strobe or goes dim on you when you turn it on. There are people that want a lower brightness mode because the battery charge will last longer, well that's stupid, just bring more fully charged battery's. For that matter bring more of THESE flash lights! Dont just buy 1. I bought 4. The light gets a little warm after a while. I live in Alaska. I use it in Alaska. The underground is mostly 40 deg. Having a warm flashlight in your hands is a blessing! I DO recommend these to my friends.

Don't bother with this one. There are much better flashlights available.
by Giancarlo Teoli (1 out of 5 stars)

I liked the fact that this took cr123a batteries. That gave me hope that it would be bright.

Don't let that fool you. I knew there was no way it was going to be 1200 lumens. But if this flashlight is even 100 lumens I'd be surprised.

Don't bother with this one. Spend a few more dollars if it's really important to you. I was really disappointed. I have a 3 dollar flashlight that takes 1 AAA battery that's just as bright if not brighter.

The 3 dollar one is on the left side of my pic.

which is something I like, but this light is fool proof in that ...
by RC Beach Flyer (5 out of 5 stars)

Very solid and heavy duty for a 14 dollar light. Put out much more light than any AA or 145000 flashlight. The 185000 batteries really pack a wallop. I dropped in once already and still ticking. No zoomable feature, which is something I like, but this light is fool proof in that it either turns on or off and there is no focusing or zooming. Watch my demonstration video:)

Buy It
by Apocalypse (5 out of 5 stars)
September 3, 2015

I purchased a few LED flashlights from Amazon. This one is my favorite so far.

It only has one mode. On and off.

It throws really bright light out really far distances.

For the price, you will not be disappointed.

Broke before I could even use it
by Mike & Peggy (1 out of 5 stars)
January 29, 2018

After opening it I put two brand new CR123 batteries in and tried to turn it on. It flashed on and off quickly once, and will not turn back on at all. I tried another new pack/brand of batteries and still nothing, although both sets still work in other flashlights.

This is a shame. I had high hopes for this light, it felt sturdy and that millisecond that it did work I could see it was super bright.

Wow!
by Not Assigned (5 out of 5 stars)
May 14, 2018

I don't often leave written reviews for products I rate 5 stars. I usually save that for complaining about poor quality products but just Wow! At $100 I would be rating it 3 stars because of a lack of bells and whistles but for $15 this thing is amazing! It throws a ton of light and has a solid sturdy heft to it. Obviously longevity will be something to keep an eye on but with flashlights the risk of loss is pretty high too. By the very nature of where and how flashlights are used they end up disappearing sometimes. I can lose a half dozen to a dozen of these for the cost of a single higher end light but still end up carrying a very capable light! My guess is that if a longevity difference shows up it's probably because despite how amazing this thing is, you'll treat it like a $15 flashlight and not a $100-200 light that you wipe down with it's included microfiber cloth and place lovingly away in its hard case... 😉
