Great Concept, Implementation Needs Work
by Amazon Customer (2 out of 5 stars)

The concept is sound--fill the compartment with guacamole, then push the air out with the plunger on the bottom, then seal it. If the guac isn't exposed to air, it won't turn brown. There is no question that this product works, and guac lasts longer in it. My biggest complaint is that it is so cumbersome to use. It is hard to seal the locks on the top without inadvertently pushing down on the container and squeezing out the guac. And, you have to push perfectly evenly from the bottom, otherwise the plunger gets uneven and you end up with air pockets. I almost always end up making a big mess. I have found that after 4-5 uses, I'd rather just not have to deal with it anymore.

Doesn't Work as it's supposed to.

Both my mother and I tried this product based on the fab reviews and raves about it. We both had the same experience of it EXPLODING guacamole all over the counter when trying to "seal it" by pushing out the air - literally guacamole squeezed out from all sides (and it wasn't even that full!!). My return window closed before I could confirm that I wasn't just doing something wrong so I guess this piece of junk will now collect dust like so many other kitchen gadgets I thought I had to have and only to be disappointed. I will continue using Press n' Seal plastic wrap to seal out the air for any future guacamole I make - it works WAY better than this gadget.

This thing rocks!

I got this for my sister who loves guac and is constantly throwing it out because it goes bad after like a minute. She LOVES it! The picture is after 4 days in the fridge, and I'm sure it would last longer. So happy it lives up to the hype!

THE BAD REVIEW ON THIS PRODUCT ARE FROM "OPERATOR ERROR"
by Kyle R. Jones (5 out of 5 stars)

THE BAD REVIEW ON THIS PRODUCT ARE FROM "OPERATOR ERROR". WHEN USED CORRECTLY, THIS PRODUCT DOES AS IT SAYS IT WILL. THE ONLY SET BACK IS, THERE IS A "MINIMAL FILL" IF YOU HAVE TO LITTLE GUAC, IT DOESN'T SEAL CORRECTLY. BUT THE SMALL AMOUNT IS LIKE 1/4 CUP OF GUAC, OR LESS.

Guacamole Lovers Will Love the Guac-Lock
by mhogan (5 out of 5 stars)

Rarely do I buy something that delivers 100% of what they claim it will. I'm happy to report that the Guac-Lock completely lived up to my expectations. Truth be told, it works even better than I expected it to. I made a batch of guac a week ago. Two or three times during the week, I unlocked it, dipped a chip or two and then re-locked it. After a week, the guacamole is as fresh as if I made it this morning. I typically make a batch of guac each week and use it as a snack or as a spread on sandwiches. I also typically throw out 1/3 to 1/2 of the batch because it spoils before we can eat it. Not any more. I estimate the food I'm not wasting will actually pay for the Guac-Lock in about a month.

The only thing I could complain about is that it's a bit smaller than I'd like. It holds about 2/3 of a typical-sized (for me anyway) batch of guac. So, I have to put the remaining third in a separate container and eat that first. It's a minor convenience and not worth removing a star. I hope the makers of the Guac-Lock see this and make one that is a bit (1/2) bigger.

Update: I've been using my Guac-Lock for a few months now. I have been able to store a batch of guacamole in my Guac-Lock for about two weeks. There is a slight problem with some of the oils leaking through the seal after about 10 days so I usually keep mine on a paper towel if I'm keeping a batch stored for more than a week. I'm probably pushing the product way past its intended use though. I stand behind my original review. Heck, I'd probably give the Guac-Lock six stars if there was a way to do so.

Waiting for someone to respond to me!

I received this a few days ago & was excited to use it! I used it tonite & the flap that pops into the hole was broken & therefore it didn't keep the guacamole from turning a bit brown. I think the concept is great, but my container was defective. I tried to reach someone to replace it & haven't heard back. I want to buy another one as soon as this one is replaced.

I also like the convenience of the serving tray

This container does exactly what it promises...keeps guacamole fresh and green...I actually left guac in the container for three weeks after using it the first time and discovered it in the back of the refrigerator....it was as fresh as the day I first served it. I am definitely sold on the value of this container. I also like the convenience of the serving tray...I use one of the sections for fresh salsa and the other three sections for chips.

GREAT NEW PRODUCT!!

Awesome, awesome product...can't believe it wasn't invented years ago...great great concept and really needed!! Thank you for inventing this great product! Not only is it great for home-made avocado based dishes, but it is also most effective for maintaining freshness in store bought guacamole. You just need to pay attention and not rush, to get the air bubbles out, when you use the guac lock, so it will truly live up to its reputation of keeping avocado fresh for days!

This has made buying avocados at Costco worth while.

Six package of avocados for a one person household? Sure.

I personally believe I make some very delicious guac, but it is annoying to go through all the effort to make one avocados worth at a time since it goes bad in the fridge after 24 hours. Enter the Guac-lock, which I admit I might have purchased while slightly inebriated one evening, but it has been used quite a lot. The picture has four day old guac in it. The edges got a little brown, but otherwise this is still very delicious, very edible quac. It's particularly great to make guac before hand and have it ready in the following days when people come over and a snack is needed. I can fit about four avocados worth in here easily.

This thing is a little difficult to clean by hand, but all parts are dishwasher safe so that simplifies it a bit. The silicone seal piece does slip off for more thorough cleaning, something I did not realize at first. Another tip is that it is best to make the guac in a bowl and transfer to this container once it's mixed up appropriately spoonful by spoonful. The guac will tend to try and form air pockets inside, which need to be pressed out for maximum effectiveness. If you make the guac directly in the Guac-lock you end up with more of these bubbles no matter how hard you try and press them out and you will end up with brown spots.

I honestly cannot recommend this enough for a guac lover.

A bit disappointed
by David W (3 out of 5 stars)

I think if you buy/make a rather large amount of Guac (say 2 large avocados or more) then this device works pretty well. But for small amounts ( I often make just 1 avocado and planned to use this device to store until needed) it is more trouble than it is worth. Not easy to get the air out with a small amount...then you have to deal with clean up and such. Given my usage, this will sit on a shelf and gather dust.

Be cautious when cleaning...the seal for the lid has grooves that capture food...remove the seal and wash carefully (both sides) when you clean the other parts.

I do think it is well made and a good idea if you plan to store large amounts.
