My Disappointment is Immeasurableby Christian Romero,Top Contributor: Batman (1 out of 5 stars)

Dishonored 2 is the sequel to the dishonored one of my favorite games of the last generation and seeing a sequel I was excited to dip my toes back into the world. What I got was a pretty disappointing sequel to the first Dishonored game. Now at first I thought it was just me so I went back and played the first game and nope it was still phenomenal. So what happen let's find out.
Pros:
I'll start with a brief positive and say that the game's art style of whale punk style looks good here as it did in the first game unfortunately that's all I can say positive about the game.
Cons:
Gameplay, limited by the morality system from the first game and the difficulty scale enemies can either be dumb or really sharp and know your exact location when you make the slightest noise. Making the gameplay not as fun as the first game where there was a balance to it and in this game they just botched it. To the point where it became a drag just playing this game. Again I went back to the first game and it did not have this issue that the sequel has.
Story, another plague and another political conspiracy in a mostly recycled story but with Emily taking the helm of course you can play as Corvo too but he's not as fun or powerful as Emily so playing as him you really miss out. The story is forgettable and Lore has been retcon for some reason. I can not tell you any memorable characters in the plot because they all suck. Like the outsider from being this mysterious figure malicious in the first to being jollier in the sequel. They never explained this change it was just retconned
Performance, it is now 2019 it been years since the launch and while performance has been improved it still runs poorly. It's still buggy and this game will not be fixed as Bethesda is pretty much done with the franchise as this game and death of the outsider sold like trash. So we got a fundamentally weak game at it's core and bad performance to add insult to injury. Fantastic.
Verdict.
Many say that sequels are often a disapointment, but this was my first encounter with a truly disgusting excuse of one. Having such a marvel of a game be rubbed in the dirt like this is just pitiful. Well, I don't have to worry about more sequels as the franchise has been iced as the spin-off Death of the Outsider and this game sold as well as meat in a vegan festival. Other than that I have nothing more to say than the game is just awful. It failed in almost every level for me and that's something that rarely happens to games I play.
Glitchy but Good

I LOVE this game, the story is phenomenal and I love how you can play it over again and never get the same gameplay twice. The only complaints I have are small things, like one major bug I've noticed is sometimes I'll be playing and then I'll get a blue screen telling me the game crashed and then I have to restart it and it goes back to normal. Its happened enough for me to mention it but not enough to ruin the game. It might just be my disc, but otherwise it's a great game! I know Skyrim had the same issue when the world has large sandboxes, and Dishonored 2 is one of those games where you could think you've explored every inch and then find a room you never knew was there.
In this you get to play as Emily or her father, Corvo. I recommend players choose Emily first and go from there, because playing as her and Corvo offers vastly different experiences between dialogue, character interaction, and even plot to an extent. I'm just wrapping up playing with Corvo on my second run of the game and just couldn't recommend it any more than I am now.
Fun sequel

This review is for the PS4 version.
After playing the first Dishonored, I liked it enough to want to get this sequel, especially after the price dropped. I will say that if you liked the first game, then you will like this one as it has a very similar feel as the original game.
Considering the original is several years old now, this sequel has the look of the original but with far better graphic detail. The level design and aesthetics of the areas are well done with nice attention to detail.
Since I had recently played the first game, the learning curve was lessoned with the game as the controls work pretty much the same as the original. Even if you are not familiar with the game, at least there is a decent tutorial to get you started. Like the first game, DH2 primarily focuses on stealth and avoiding killing as killing creates high chaos and consequences for game world. Like the first game though, you can play in different styles (stealth versus assassination) with different ending results in the game and this time you can play two different characters as well for even a bit more variety in gameplay. For me personally, I think doing a near complete stealth (or completely stealthy) playthrough isn't nearly as fun as you don't really get to use all the tools and powers that you have available but you do have the option to play the game in a variety of ways throughout. You even have the option to play without the runes powers as well, although to me that is one of the best and most unique parts of the game.
Considering I am getting started with the game a while after it has been out, I seemed to have skipped most of the bug issues as I have not come across any as I have played as yet. Although not a bug per se (just bugs me), the lack of ability to pick up the books and remove them from the environment is a slightly annoying to me, mainly because I forget if I have clicked on the book to read or not through the game.
The game story is ok, although maybe not as good as the original, and follows the events several years after the first DH game. There seems to be a bit more character interaction and side missions than the first game, which is a plus. Although the game is still fairly linear, it does seem that you have a bit more area to explore than the previous game, which at least gives the feel of a more open world. I would say this is a limited open world though.
The baddies do seem to be a bit smarter and wiser to movement, which makes the stealth approach a bit more of a challenge. It does seem to be a bit too easy to get spotted now as opposed to before.
I am still not crazy about having to enable the heart to chase down the runes and charms as they tend to be a pain to track down but for the most part, I like DH2 as it is fun and allows for a variety of ways to play.
Pros:
Nice graphics, beautiful details
More side missions and character interactions than the first
Ability to play both as Corvo or Emily with different stories and play styles
A variety of ways to play with lots of options to complete a mission
Cool variety of magic powers and runes, some fun weapons
Good voice acting, ok story
Combat is fun, smarter baddies
A bit more open for exploring (see cons)
Cons:
Task list is still a bit messy like the first DH
Variety of play but still focused on playing stealth more than as an assassin
Tough to complete on pure stealth mode
Still pretty linear gameplay
Not true open world (limited areas of exploration)
Story isn't as compelling as DH
Some gameplay quirks still
Game is a bit harder than the first

Lackluster

The first game was amazing, but this one is pretty lackluster. The story is terrible, the missions are bad, even the voice acting has declined. I won't go into the details, but the sequel is definitely not as good as it should have been. The upside is that some of the powers have better improvements (such as Blink, which can now stop time when you are not moving), but other powers ended up becoming way worse (namely Dark Vision, which barely works in this game). Overall, even though this game is terrible compared to the first one, it's still worth getting (for no more than ~$15-20, of course).

Beautiful game, wonderful story. If you leave ratings based on packaging or box design, you're a twat. Leave a complaint with Amazon packaging services and whine to Bethesda about the box art. Don't ruin a game's rating based on that.

The game is great. I have spent 4 hours in the first two levels alone and I haven't even finished the second level yet! There is so much to explore in this game it is insane. I really don't understand how people can call this game short. So many rooms and buildings to explore. I feel like I missed a ton of stuff and I tried very hard not to miss anything. When you multiply that by the two different characters, the multitude of powers and even a no powers run, the possibilities for replay value are very high.
The best thing is you can play your own way

Similar play style to BioShock, weapon in one hand and powers in the other. The best thing is you can play your own way. First, play stealth or play fast paced. Then, each level is corridor based (opposite open world, think Uncharted or most FPS), but there is multiple ways to complete each level. Maybe you want to go across the roof tops, or sneak through an apartment, or just go down the middle challenging each enemy. You can be very creative if you want to.
This game is made by Arkane studios. If you have played any of their games than you know what to expect.

Being a fan of the first game I had high expectations, and let me say I wasn't disappointed. Dishonored 2 greatly exanded the world of the previous title, giving you more choice than ever and really building on the areas that were admittedly sparse on content. In terms of stealth-focused games this is up there for one of the most refined in terms of gameplay. In terms of story I've heard some say that it's a little bland but I really love this universe, and what really draws me in are all the little details scattered through the levels that make them feel "lived in." When you look into the lore the story feels quite a bit more engaging. Anyway, if you're a fan of dark stealth action games then this is a must have in my book.

Great game. One of the few games that I have bothered to replay enough times to almost get 100% of the trophies. After I take a break (having played through 4 times in a row) I'll probably go back for the three I've missed so far. The new abilities as Emily, and the refined abilities as Corvo are fantastic to play with, and the way your choices can drastically change the game is nothing short of stunning. My only complaint is the lack of ability to restart each mission at the beginning, forcing you to remember to save (which I almost never do).
Looking forward to getting the dlc.
Great Game, Would Murder Again

A quality game by any measure. I enjoy the dual protagonist even if the overall story is shorter as a result of having to run through it twice to get the full picture. New powers and abilities make it refreshing even when playing as Corvo. Highly recommended!
