Buy Beware. Poor craftsmanship and materials.

I am so unbelievably disappointed having to write this. When the Kilt arrived I was excited. I felt like I had done my due diligence. I looked into the company, checked out their web page, and read tons of reviews here on Amazon. I was sure I had made a solid choice. You can imagine my surprise when it started shedding buttons literally as I pulled it out of the packaging. But I was willing to cut them a break. "These things happen" I told my self. Not THAT big of a deal. Just get some replacement buttons right? I must say that the customer service I received was great. However, no amount of great customer service can make up for a bad product. And I breaks my heart to write this bad review. The kilt is a great design, its light weight, comfortable, and breathes well. Then, as if the buttons weren't bad enough the stitching holding the molle loops began to unravel. Once again, wanted to like this product so bad. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt. "Maybe I just got a bad one" I said. "These things happen" I told my self again. So I processed a return and re-ordered another. Finally my "new" kilt arrived. I opened the packaging and once again it started to shed buttons literally as I went to unfasten and try it on. I wanted to like this product, I REALLY did. Once might be a fluke, but twice? This company either has a serious supply chain issue with the quality of the materials they are using or the work that they are doing. Either way I expect a $100 item to not disintegrate as I pull it from the packaging. I sadly can not recommend this product.

An everyday kilt for the urban warrior
by 1stSpear (4 out of 5 stars)

This is my go to kilt for most activities. Very few Asians can pull off looking good in a kilt, but I rock mine like I was born for it. The snap closures are very secure and stay in place when I'm training martial arts, sparring, working out, etc. It's made from similar material as my 5.11 TDU kilt, but has more pleats so they hang nicely and creates a nice swoosh when I'm moving about.

Pros:
- It hugs your midsection around your navel area, where kilts are meant to be worn.
- I get a lot of smiles and compliments from the ladies.
- It's very comfortable and good for hot and even chilly weather.
- You'll always look ready for battle.
- Because of the molle it stays where it should at about navel height, even when you're doing some intense physical activity like working out, weapons fighting, trail running, etc.

Cons:
- It hugs your midsection, ^_^... So if you put on some weight later on, you're gonna get that muffin top action going and putting it on can be challenging since the molle around the waist area doesn't stretch.
- The cargo pockets (can) swing wildly when you have items like a phone or wallet in it during intense physical activities. They're removable, but's kinda annoying to have to take them off and put them back on again.

Pretty cool!

As kilts go, this is pretty practical, though there are a couple minor beefs. First, ANY garment labelled "tactical" with pockets needs to have the lower part of the pocket edge reinforced - carrying a knife clipped will wear through a non-reinforced pocket corner in no time. Second, the "pants" pockets are sewn at a really odd angle - instead of down like you might expect, they extend sideways -- this means that they are always needing to be moved before you can get your hand into them, and there is usually a tangle when you put your hand back in..
The cargo pouches are fairly useful if you don't mind a lot of excess hardware - using web/cord would have made this kilt lighter and quieter - ditto for the extraneous steel D-rings on the outside.
Sizing is exactly as advertised! I bought an inexpensive 2" leather belt to go with mine and the combo works well.

Very awesome kilt, a quality piece.

I really love it, it's very secure a very cool, it's definitely what you're looking for. It's just that I'm fairly wide in the waste, if there was a version that was shorter so that it would reach only to my knees or just above my knees, but still be wide enough, being shorter but also not sacrificing that the bell shaped to get a wider at the bottom but is narrow at the hips. But is the same hip size and shorter. , that would be good.

But because I'm wide in the waste I had to get a bigger size it goes a little bit below my knees and that's a little bit too long. But then again maybe it's not, that's just an issue of style.

It has lots of pockets, lots of attachment points, it's very secure, I feel really good wearing it. Lots of flexibility.

Great kilt; but, the sizing chart is horrible.
by Long Drink Of Silence (3 out of 5 stars)

Buyer be aware: The sizing chart - as provided on the Amazon page - is garbage. It took three tries to get the right size. The first should've - according to the chart - fit me almost snug at the kilt-line. It was literally falling off of me. So, I ordered the next size down. BUZZER!!! No. Still too large. Frustrating. So, I finally ordered a M/L, and she fits a treat... albeit a tad short in the drop for someone my height.

SIZING SUGGESTION: My final "correct" size, was two up from my normal trouser-size, and two down from what the provided Sizing Chart said. For me, that fell solidly on a M/L. If it falls between two sizes, you can either go down for a snug fit, or up for a loose fit. I hope this is helpful.

Good quality, would buy again.

Fit was spot on. Very easy to get measurements and order according to size chart on website (for bigger guys). My only real complaint is that there is a X-Large and a Large-XL, that was a little confusing to figure out. But luckily for me I ordered the X-large with a 46" measurement and it fit good. Had to wear a belt to insure it didn't slip away from by belly.

The fabric is thin and is rip stop material that is quick dry, think fishing shirt or hiking pants. It is light weight compared to some other kilts I have. The way they did the pleats is pretty cool, they will stay pleated however it does get crunched up after sitting and standing all day. The detachable pockets are big enough for me to carry everything that I normally would each day, they have a snap button that snaps to the leg so it moves with you. The built in pockets are a nice option if you are going for a sleek look. They are deep enough to work with EDC gear but I would consider ditching some stuff for comfort because they aren't real deep. Back pocket is big enough to carry a minimalist wallet. Having the option to remove the side bags is great, I bought these to work in so I have room from tape measure, square and stuff. But when I need to run to the store I can just pull them off and still have my EDC in the built in pockets.

Quality is pretty good, I have had the kilt on all weekend in work and play and haven't had an issue. With that being said the clasp and D-rings feel really cheap, I was reading some complaints that the D-ring will slide out of the loop if you wear suspenders. This hasn't happened to me but I can see it being possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the clasp break one day. The snap buttons are good and the webbing feels strong. I am on the fence about the Velcro squad patch but it's really not that important.

All in all I am happy with my purchase and would buy again. I would also recommend this to other people.

they fold and hang like a floppy eared dog
by Amazon Customer in SENM (4 out of 5 stars)

Very well assembled, as all my DNKE kilts are, but has some design flaws that should be addressed. The inner, side pockets are cut and attached at the wrong angle. Rather than hang straight and flat against your body, they fold and hang like a floppy eared dog. Same pockets, first time I washed, edges frayed like crazy! The seams need to be serged, or at least double stitched. The back pocket, love the idea and position, but it is so small, I can barely fit three fingers in the opening. If I put anything in that pocket, chances are, I'm going to have to take this thing off, to get it out! The D-rings and spring clamps and seem a little lightweight and flimsy, more costume than utilitarian. I doubt the little lobster clamps will last.

On the plus side, the molle webbing is going to make an awesome tool holder, for work around the farm and shop. The fit is perfect, and they look great!

Despite what I feel like are design flaws, this is still a nice kilt, and well worth the money!

Awesome look and very practical

The waist measurement you take needs to be spot-on for this to fit comfortably. The kilt is comfortable, practical, gets lots of comments, and is extremely stylish. There are loads of molle attachment loops, 3 internal pockets, and 2 large external ones. Combined with a sporran, you have lots of storage space. Add a belt, and that allows for even more gear. The velcro patch will fit two 2"x3" morale/unit patches in vertical orientation (i.e. it is 4"x3").

Steadily growing my kilt wardrobe.
by Jaspar Andreis (3 out of 5 stars)

Received it with a broken snap button. Unknown if this was a manufacturing defect or a shipping mishap. I see other reviews mentioning broken or easily broken snaps. And while the fit is accurate to my size, it is noticeably more snug than the Smithy DNKE kilt of the same size (that one will sag down to my hip bones if I don't belt it.). I do like the fabric. It is the most lightweight (but tough) type from this company, I think, which is a good thing in the tropics. I do kind of wish I'd have spent the extra $20 for one of the non-discontinued colors, but maybe some other time. I'm sure I can still get some usage from this one. So all in all, these are some worthwhile pants- replacers. If not for the broken snap and size deviation between them, I could have rated this 4 or 4.5. And when I am spending $80-$100 for a garment, I think it should be received fully intact. Granted, this could just be a risk of acquiring through the online means. EDIT: I forgot that I actually ordered the x-small, as opposed to my Smithy model, which is a small. Both tags just say "small", so that's why this one is a snugger fit. Sorry 'bout that.
