Don't Be Fooled. No Better Than Leaving It On Your Cupboard

I didn't see any reason why this would be better at defrosting a steak than leaving it out on your cupboard other than that it was black and metal, but since it was on sale for six bucks, I thought I would give it a try.

Turns out the claims are utter nonsense. I've used it to defrost several steaks that were within an ounce of each other at the same time, under identical conditions except one was on this cheap piece of black metal and the other was on a plate or sitting on the metal part of my stove (the stove had been off for at least 24 hours so it wasn't getting any heat from there). Each time the steak was mostly defrosted in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours whether I used this or something else. Internal temperature readings were almost identical.

Don't be fooled by the claims you see here. This piece of metal isn't magic and it doesn't speed up the time for defrosting.

buyer beware. this is a piece of crap. arrived in torn envelope, bent. Pictures showed feet, this one doesn't have any. Size was suppose to be 14" x 8". tray I received is barely 11 1/2" x 8". Worst part - no returns. And to add to frustration, it doesn't defrost. Counter was better defroster.

Very disappointing...didn't do anything...as someone said..just put it on a plate...it'll defrost just as quick....a waste of money.

Given how inexpensive this tray is, I wasn't sure it would work, but it's worth a try. I don't understand how this things works, but it does. We have mostly used it to defrost meat, but you can even put other items on it, like a container of frozen soup. I'd say a piece of frozen chicken is more or less thawed in 1 hour, whereas a big container of frozen soup takes more like 3 (and it will still have frozen parts). Remember though -- only what's touching the tray defrosts, so depending on the shape of the item, you might want to flip it over to move the process along. This tray is small and thin so even a tiny kitchen (like mine) can accommodate.

Does Not Work

This product does not work like it claims, I'm not sure where these other reviews are coming from? I placed a frozen chicken breast on the tray, without packaging, and set my timer for 30 mins. Still frozen solid, except for the top. So I flipped it over, waited another 30 mins...still frozen in the middle. I would have had better luck setting the chicken, in the package, in a tub of water (and it wouldn't have cost me $14). Don't waste your money on this.

If only I could give it a zero stars!!! I wonder, for all positive reviewers - did it really work for you? I had a chicken breast on that thing for over an hour and it didn't even pretend to start defrosting. Absolutely useless. Unfortunately, I cannot return it because of the seller's policy and it would be subject to 20% restocking even if I could. I guess I got spoiled by Prime membership and didn't check the return policy in advance. Anyone wants to try it for free? Pay for the shipping and it's yours.

Imperial Home Fast Defrosting Tray - The Safest Way to Defrost Meat or Frozen Food Quickly Without Electricity, Microwave, Hot Water or Any Other Tools

These are fantastic!! I have been using mine for about 5 years. Sometimes I forget to take meat out of the freeze rand if you have one of these that is not a problem. A pound of hamburger takes about 30 minutes.I defrost it on one side and than turn it over to finish the job. I have bought several. These make great gifts. Most people have never heard of them. I bought two this month. I just used mine this morning to thaw out bacon. It took about 20 to 25 minutes. I'm sure I will buy more of them.

I've wanted to try one of these for a long time, but, never believed it would work as advertised. I'm happy to say that for once I got a product that actually does the job it's touted to do! Defrosts items quickly and looks great on the counter. This defrosting tray will make great gifts for family and friends. I recommend this product!!

From the video it appeared it would thaw things quicker. It took over two hours to thaw chicken breast. I think just leaving them out would have thawed the same time. Disappointed in this product.

These were on TV years ago (80's) , but I was too young to care about ordering. Knew a couple who had one and swore by it, but I still waited a while before I searched for one. Purchased one last December. As someone who doesn't always have a dinner plan before noon, I love this. I can take something out of the freezer and place it on the tray. If I'm home, I'll flip the items over to speed up the thawing process. Otherwise, I feel like the thawing process is still cut in half. Love this tray, and if it wears out or gets damaged, I will buy a new one!
