As other reviews have noted, it mostly doesn't work in the way the advertising suggests. The crux of the matter is the technology at the core of this product which is bluetooth. The BT signal just isn't powerful enough to do the job and so frequently one finds that a Trackr device is disconnected from the phone and cannot be found even though it's just around a corner, well within the 30 feet/9 meters. And 9 meters, even if it worked perfectly, is not exactly impressive. But it doesn't work perfectly. For example over two stories of a house, or just between two rooms it doesn't work. Sometimes it doesn't work even with straight line of sight. Another thing is the long time it takes the phone to connect to the devices. You see, they aren't connected permanently, that would presumably cost too much battery life. So when you need to find something the phone first needs to connect to it. Which typically takes 1-2 minutes. Sort of defeats the purpose.
This Trackr business is probably quite typical for all these Kickstarter and what have you projects. Seemed like a good idea at the time but there was a reason why larger companies hadn't brought it to market before you even thought about it.
I see that a competing product, the "Tile" gets better average reviews but when one digs into the 1-, 2- and 3-star comments it's obvious that due to the same core technology being used, the same problems apply.
Anyway, the Trackr isn't completely useless. Here are ways in which it has been useful to me:
- when not sure whether the object I am looking for is even at the same general location as I: on the phone tracker I can check where it was last seen so I at least know I am searching in the right place
- my keys dropped into a pile of clothes, dog accessories and various other junk in the entrance hall of our house and I did find them quickly with the tracker; mind you I would have found them anyway, but this was a little faster
- while sitting on the loo the other day I wondered where all my things were so I opened the door, held the phone outside and triggered; I was comforted to know that all three items were in the entrance hall where I thought they would be

I bought 10 of these. They work for between 1 and 3 months. When they work, they work pretty well. But for $35 they are ridiculously priced. When you try to exchange them, the company gives you a really hard time. Too many hoops to jump through. They must know that they are failing left and right. If they were cheap, screw it, just throw them out. If they are expensive, replace them very quickly and easily. But expensive, and hard to return, not a good mix. Maybe come back in a year or two. Now, they absolutely suck. Price point should be $3. Maybe $5. And the rubber cases they sell for them all ripped within 24 hours. Sad because I wanted this to work. I tried one Tile, it worked a little better but it was twice the size and the battery is non replaceable. And I only bought one. I need to find the 3rd competitor in this market.

Absolutely worthless! This was put into service in 8/2016 and as of 12/2016 the battery is dead. I have spent almost a week looking for a set of misplaced keys. The location of the keys when found should definitely have been in range for the Bluetooth to find. This cost me $29 for a worthless piece of junk and the return window has now closed. Into the recycle bin it goes. If there was a way to give it zero stars, I would. Don't waste your money and please don't rely on it to locate something you really care about like a beloved pet.
Works for 2 weeks (tops).

I ended up buying 3 of these TrackR bravo, with the goal to use them to track my pets, in special my cat.
The first two trackers I bought worked well for about 4 days, then totally stopped working. I even bought the silicon sleeve to protect them, but they stopped tracking. Replacing batteries had no effect.
Still hopeful that this could work, and that the failure was my fault somehow, I got at third tracker. This one worked for about 2 weeks. I have replaced the batteries many times to no avail.
Right now, the third tracker only works for 15 seconds when I insert a battery, then it goes into oblivion.
I'd love if these work as expected, but for now I'd recommend people don't waste their money with this.
big disappointment

This device is worthless to me. I fell for the pitch that you can find your bike. Well, only if you're inside your own house. This confusing piece of gadgetry only works on a network if other people are onboard . Otherwise, you have a small range. Don't waste your money.
Yaay, I just received my 2nd dead unit. Very disappointing product quality.

I've got two of these things so far and they both didn't work. The first one was dead and useless and would barely beep, that is about all I could get it to do. The replacement I got wasn't much better (and yes, I tried brand new batteries in both). The battery tray misfit caused the battery contacts not to touch the battery. This company has some serious quality problems. Great Idea for a crowd source location device, but they have a long way to go on the manufacturing side of the business! P.O.S. !!! Don't waste your money until they fix their quality issues.
Do not buy.

When this product finally got to me, the battery was already dead. I had to go buy a battery just to try it out. Then when I did get it working, it wasn't very loud at all. I kept it on my key chain for a while, but then when I tried it out again, the battery was dead again! I ended up frustrated and just through it in the garbage.
This is a pure garbage

This is a pure garbage. They show a movie where they can track a bike. this cannot happen. I barely find the keys on the other room.
They sell you like a GPS but it is a poor bluetooth. DOn't waste your money..
Battery died without alerting me.

Purchased in July. Checked the app in November and the battery died. App is suppose to send me a warning of low battery but I never got one. I do not use separation alerts that drains the battery faster. TrackR says the battery will last 12 months but usage varies. I installed a fresh Energizer in July and somehow it died somewhere between late October and when I found it dead in late November. So for a while I had a dead TrackR luckily I didn't need it yet.
