Perfect Mobile Companion for iPad Pro
by A. Valentin (5 out of 5 stars)

I recently switched from a laptop to the iPad Pro as my main computer. One accessory that I wasn't able to bring to the iPad Pro was my external USB numeric keypad. The Satechi Bluetooth Numeric Keypad works wonderfully with my iPad when I have to quickly input many numbers into a spreadsheet. Lightweight construction and battery operation makes this numeric keypad as mobile as my iPad.

Good Buy, Go for it!

I had another wireless keypad however I was very unhappy with it so I decided to look into purchasing this numeric keypad. I LOVE IT! I work with numbers quite a bit and unfortunately my new Apple Macbook Pro laptop does not have a numeric keypad off to the side like my old windows laptop. Pros:

Larger key pad

buttons are similar to that of a mac keyboard

ITS GOT A TAB BUTTON!

Easily connected to my macbook

came with a battery

Cons:

I got nothing...

I would highly recommend this product for purchase if you are looking for a wireless numeric keypad. Please comment YES if my review was helpful.

and it works just fine. I cannot use it with my Macbook Air

I bought this for use with my iPad Pro, and it works just fine. I cannot use it with my Macbook Air. The bluetooth connects correctly but after keying in the setup code, Apple wants to verify the key locations starting with pushing the key left of the "shift" key. There is no "shift" key on the numeric key pad so the setup process comes to a halt. I tried using it anyway in one of the accounting programs I use regularly, and it sort of works but not all functionality is there. Just an FYI if your purchasing this for use on a Mac laptop.

Love the number keys with the Tab button placement

Love the number keys with the Tab button placement. Makes data entry really fast. Keys started repeating so I contacted customer service and they replaced it with a new unit at no cost and I didn't need to return the first one. I am a FAN for life! Good customer service is very important to me! I have another brand but it isn't Bluetooth and the Tab key is awkwardly placed so my hands tire quickly or I enter the wrong numbers and don't notice unless I am watching the spreadsheet instead of what I want to enter quickly. Thanks Setechi, I look forward ti checking out your other products!

"Missed it by THAT much"
by Drew Derbyshire (3 out of 5 stars)

basics: It connects, and the basic functionality works.

The keys have subtle protocol errors as outlined below, hence my only three stars.

I'm sure not the brand Z battery they included worked at all. I put in a domestic alkaline battery and life was good.

The NumLock isn't a true NumLock which is sent to the host computer; rather it's an internal toggle. While this has advantages (it works with a Mac), a computer can't detect or alter the NumLock state.

The printable characters (numbers, /. *, -, +) all send the correct specific keypad specific codes when in numeric mode. When NumLock is off, the key cursor keys are sending the keys for the regular keyboard, which I suspect is wrong.

Tab, Back, and Enter do not sent keypad specific codes; this makes sense for Tab & Back (a normal keypad doesn't have them), but KeyPad specifc Enter is a standard code and should have been sent.

It's like the Numlock turns off which looks like it goes ...

Sadly after talking with tech support on and off for months and one replacement keypad I have given up on this. I don't know if it is an incompatibility with my Alienware notebook or what. And it doesn't seem to be a sleeping problem. It's like the Numlock turns off which looks like it goes to sleep but when pressing the keypad to get it back on the numbers don't often work but the arrow keys, Home, End, etc keys work which means it is talking to the computer. If I press the Numlock on and off on my notebook keyboard it will usually start working but it is a pain to have to deal with that. Just don't know why it can't stay on all the time, I'm guessing it doesn't take much power and if you use rechargeable batteries you would be good there too. Didn't even use the cheap battery that came with it just to make sure it wasn't that.

I really like that it is Bluetooth so I don't have to have another dongle in my USB ports but may have to go that way. I have enough stress in my life that I don't want to deal with this keypad anymore.

When it works, it's great.

Decent, but not great.

I've had the Satechi 20-Key BT Keypad for a couple of days, and thus far it's passable, depending on your needs.I'll order my thoughts on the keypad into categories, below:

Pros:
* Is a Bluetooth number pad, thus doesn't require a proprietary USB receiver
* Tab-key included

Cons:
* Double-0 key is useful for so few people that I don't think it warrants inclusion
* Uses a single AAA battery as opposed to a USB-rechargeable fixed internal battery
* Not backlit

Quibbles
* Ugly (albeit very legible) typography

My ideal keypad would be backlit, thin, Bluetooth (compatible with Logitech's Unify receivers would be a secondary option). It would have good-looking typography and solid build quality. Unfortunately, I haven't found that keypad yet. So, this isn't a bad option.

Does exactly what I bought it for. Connects to my MacBook Pro with a flip of a switch, and gives me a much missed number pad. Seems sturdy and reliable.

Not as great as they claim

I purchased this numeric keypad to use with a new laptop for work that did not have its own 10-key. For the price, I thought this would be a "top of the line" product. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. When you turn the keypad on, it takes a few seconds to be usable (okay, I can live with that). However, after it has been on for a little while, and you have not used it, it goes into sleep mode. Normally, this would be okay with me. The bad part is that 99% of the time, I have to pick the keypad up, turn it over, turn it off, turn it back on, and then wait for it connect to the computer. All the reviews I read said you only had to strike a key to wake up the keypad. That hasn't been the case with mine. I'm sorry, Satechi, this nuisance is just unacceptable.

Since I have already discarded the packaging, I am not going to return it (even though I really should. It is going into storage, the trash, or I will find someone to give it to. I have ordered a different keypad this morning, that costs half the price of this one. Satechi, you are being replaced in my home office!

Fantastic substitute for a lost keypad
by Sharleen Flowers (5 out of 5 stars)

This keypad is perfect for any device that lacks a numeric keypad such as my laptop. I was so bummed out when I found out my new laptop wouldn't have a numeric keypad-- something I rely on for data entry in Excel, use in calculator, and for school/teaching purposes. But this Bluetooth keypad has solved all my problems! It is perfectly raised to a comfortable, elevated height. The keys are easy to read with large text and they have strong clicks. I love the included back space and the included double 00 key. Additionally, it was very easy to set up over my laptop's Bluetooth and I haven't need to reconnect it since! You will love using this device.
