I installed this light over my kitchen counter 4 years ago. I just came back to order more. It's not super bright, it's almost more like a night light. But that's good. I mainly use it when I don't want to turn on the overhead light just to grab something off the counter or out of a cabinet. It is not task lighting. That being said,

the batteries lasted me 3 years! I guess because of the motion sensor and timer.

amazingly it stuck to my wall and after 3 days is still there. the lights are nice and bright for my pantry purposes and the motion sensor even works, though if you stop moving it goes out quite quickly; all in all, it's the best lamp of its kind that i am pleased with. but let's see if its shelf life passes the test and it doesn't stop working after 3 months. still working after 3 months. just changed batteries. was worried when the light all of a sudden got very dim and i figured that it was going bad finally; then i remembered the batteries and njow it's back to its same bright self; love it!

UPDATE - i finally had to change batteries but the place where you open it is plastic and very flimsy and hard to get to where you need to insert batteries. it broke, so i had to order a new one. i am having a hard time removing the magnet, but i can just use the led portion of the new one. still love them, but they should come up with a better way to replace batteries. update - i bought one 1 month ago, and it's burned out 2 days before the return window closed. they are crap. i don't know what happened - they started out great and then began to needing batteries more often. all in all, now i would say it's a short lasting piece of junk.

Excellent features

This is an excellent product. I didn't realize a few things from the product description that were definite plusses:
1. The light attaches to the wall by the use of a magnet. I thought it would connect either by Velcro or simply double stick tape. The magnet makes it easy to dismount to carry around or temporarily relocate.
2. The light has a light sensor, in addition to a motion sensor. When we enter a completely dark garage, it comes on immediately and very brightly. When the garage door opener light turns on before we enter, such as when we drive up, this light doesn't come on b/c it senses that we have sufficient light from the garage door opener. That should definitely save on batteries.

It is very bright and turns on very quickly. I haven't tested it to see how long it stays on without sensing motion, so maybe I need to leave my husband in the garage until it goes out to test that.

Overall, I am very pleased with the features and strength of this light. I am trying to figure out other places to mount these. I am thinking some dark closets are next.

Broke after two weeks!

Broke after two weeks. I ordered this on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sell in Nov. 2015. I am just now posting the review. I installed the light above an outdoor "mother-in-law" apartment attached to my house, so that relatives visiting for Christmas would a motion detector light to be able to access the door and see the lock. I installed it the second week of December. It served it purpose through Christmas, but stopped working before New Years. It lasted two weeks at most. I have a similar light on the main door that I purchased at Lowe's Home Improvement. It has lasted two years and is still going.

Update: I still cannot recommend this product. The seller contacted me and sent me a new light. This time, the sticky tape on the back, which peeled off just fine on the first light and the similar light from Lowe's Home Improvement, didn't peel off well. It pull off the backing, so that there was not sticky surface left. I ended up having to use wood glue and a caulk gun to stick it to the house. All in all, I still wouldn't buy it. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, well...

A great cabinet light

I bought this Zeroedge light to illuminate that "blind-corner" cabinet every kitchen seems to have. In this case, it's where we keep the pots, pans, baking sheets & casserole dishes. The light works well for this purpose. It's installed near the door and shines towards the "dark" end of the cabinet. Upon opening the door the light doesn't come on until you reach into the cabinet and it senses your body-heat. That's nice in case the door is left ajar and moves while you're in the kitchen. The light is ample and gives plenty of light to rummage around to uncover the correct wayward pot lid or the misplaced roasting rack. Installation is by using a self-stick magnetic strip material that holds the light securely. I haven't been able to test the range of the sensor to determine if it's effective for the 3-meters (9-10 ft) it claims. I'm contemplating buying several more as a nightlight for an elderly relative who gets up several times a night and has to navigate to the bathroom. It has enough light but isn't as bright as turning on the hall lights (and waking the family). This would also be excellent lighting inside a safe or poorly lit closet.

Uses 3 x AAA batteries. For a high-volume use area, I'd suggest rechargeable types which can be easily recharged during the day.

Product failed after two months, and now I can't find a way to contact the seller. (SEE EDIT)

(SEE EDIT BELOW) I have four of these lights and three of them are fine. The fourth one, which I have been using in a dark stairwell for a couple of months, has developed a problem with the motion sensor so that it doesn't shut off when it is supposed to. I changed the batteries a week ago and now the new ones are dead also. Since the lights are rather expensive I expected much better than a 25% failure rate after two months. Since it can't be returned now, and I can't find a button to contact the seller to find out about a replacement, I will not be buying from this vendor any more, and that's the main reason for the three star review. If they don't support what they sell, and a significant number of them only last a few weeks, the product is too unreliable for what it costs.

Edit 4/30/16 The vendor sent me a replacement for the defective light. I have put it in place and upgraded my review to five stars because their service was so quick and courteous. The other three units are still working fine. Since I now know the vendor is reliable, I hope to obtain more of these to put in places where they will be needed if we have a power outage.

Motion and light sensitive so only comes on in the dark

Lights the garage steps at night and works great. Took me a while to get it set up (no instructions) but once I figured it out I felt pretty dumb. There is a label that points to one end cap as where to put in the batteries but I couldn't get the end cap off. Finally noticed that there is a little door on the end cap that opens easily for battery insertion. Glad I didn't break the light fumbling around. I needed a light and motion sensitive light that would come on automatically when I opened my laundry room door to the garage so I could see to get down the steps safely, set something out there or retrieve something from the nearby storage area. There is a light switch nearby for the overhead garage light, but if I'm leaving I don't want to turn on the main lights and leave them on and anyway they don't come on immediately. My freezer is just outside that door so I stuck the light on the freezer door and when it's dark, just opening the laundry room door is enough movement for this light to come on. It is bright enough to light the area well. It is just what I needed. I had another motion sensitive light in that area which worked great for a while, but eventually broke and I've been looking for a replacement. This little light is effective and fits the bill perfectly. It works consistently and is super bright.

Do NOT buy this item or any other item from this manufacturer. I have ordered this very same item twice and both were completely inoperable. I am a commercial electrician and am highly qualified to assemble, install and repair all manner of lighting devices. This item simply does not work at all, period.

I LOVE IT! Truly worth far more than I paid for it. It is the perfect brightness level for the inner compartment of a wooden cart. It does not waste batteries by coming on in the daytime. It comes with a strip of 3M double stick tape attached to a flexible magnet. All you need to do is to stick the magnet to where you want your light to be located then place the light on the magnet. Easy off to change batteries also. I'm really sorry that I didn't order 6 or 7 of these puppies. It has heft to it and feels more like a professional instrument than an inexpensive light. It weighs 151 grams or 5.3 ounces with the batteries installed. You can't go wrong with this little beauty.

ADDENDUM FOR THE ELECTRONIC TINKER PERSON: After use of this item I discovered that for my application it wasn't exactly as I had wanted. It must be in near total dark before it will operate, and I needed it to ONLY respond when a hand was directly under it. I formulated a solution ONLY for those with electronic knowledge and ability to solder and work with semi-delicate items. Remove the screw under the battery compartment door. Remove the label at the other end to show another screw. You will have to obtain a "triangle security bit" to remove these screws. Remove the milky white outer shields first. They come off fairly easily. Then carefully remove the circuit board. It is a tight fit, so use caution so as not to break the board. If you want it to operate regardless of how dark or how light it is, then locate the photocell that is between #1 led and #2 led. Cover it with a tiny bit of black electrical tape or a couple coats of black nail polish. Do not get any tape or nail polish at the very edge of the circuit board or it will not slide back in. Solder a suitable black wire to the negative terminal. It is marked on the circuit board and it the one furthest from the battery door. If the clip falls off, just leave it off and solder directly to the circuit board. Remove the original red wire from the circuit board and solder on your red appropriate lead. I drilled a hole in the battery door to accommodate the wire I had just added. You will need to find a 6 volt DC wall wart transformer that supplies at least 200 ma for safety. It draws about 125 ma. Now, any time it senses movement it will activate.

Next...to the problem of aiming the infrared sensor so that it will only activate when something is directly under it just experiment with black electrical tape in different positions on the sensor dome in the middle of the light. It is actually sort of an aiming lens in reality. My application was for a darkened area in a bookcase that is about 24 inches square. ONLY when answering the phone in there or another item would I want the light on. NOT when someone was walking up to it. Now I am REALLY happy with my purchase. If you need more detail or advice let me know and I can assist. Make sure you are familiar with this type of work or you will destroy this item. If you aren't just take it so an Electronic Technician. It is only about a 15 minute job if you know what you are doing. It was fun. I hope this fills other's needs.

Really liking this light!!

I'm using this in my kitchen, on one side we have a night light, the other side I have one of those plug in wax melters, so I wanted to switch the melter with the night light, but then it looked dark on one side, so I got this light. I love this light!! It fit perfect to where I wanted it, and it is a very bright light!!! I love that it is motion sensor, I thought I would only find ones that you either have it on or off & thought I was going to go through batteries like candy!! But with this, I probably won't need to change the batteries for awhile!! I love I can walk into my kitchen, the light comes on, and after I leave in about 5 seconds it turns right off, as long as your moving around the light will stay on, but you do have to be about 3 feet from it, our kitchen isn't huge so that's no problem, plus I only wanted it for when I am in the area of where I put the light. I think i might by one for my linen closet in our bathroom, and for our pantry and maybe for the other side of the kitchen.. The price was great! I love how you can take it off cause it's magnetized to the tape, so you can take it down anytime, whether to change the batteries or if your lights go out you can just grab it and take it with you through out the house where you might need light. And it makes a great gift!!!
