Product Description

The Clark Vertex is the only camping hammock that sleeps two occupants comfortably. Enjoy the comfort of two stable beds that cannot tip you out. The patented independent suspension of each bed allows you to move around all you want without disturbing the other occupant. Each hammock bed supports at least 700 lbs. Occupants up to 250 lbs and 75 inches tall are likely to feel comfortable in the beds provided. Enjoy full No-See-Um zippered netting and a breathable nylon enclosure that zips on when needed. All of this added to a very spacious interior makes the Clark Vertex the only option for sleeping two backpackers comfortably in a hammock. Patented flexible poles allow for great head room while making it easy to transform this hammock into a two-person ground tent. The complete packing weight is 5 lbs 1 oz. This includes the double hammock, all suspension lines, poles and the stuff sack. The weight of the tent can be partially split between backpackers if one person carries the poles. This product comes with everything you need to use it and it is ready to hang as soon as you take it out of the box.

Amazing hammock, but buy on Clark Outdoor website, not amazon

So my boyfriend had been looking at the Clark hammocks for months. I finally broke down and bought it for us for an upcoming camping trip. We broke it out to see to find out it was NOT the one he really wanted (He wanted the one that has storage under) but the hammock itself is amazing. it does need a rainfly because the zippers do allow water to get thru (we tested it). My only complaint, and its not amazons fault, its mine for not doing my research, is if you go on the Clarks Outdoor website, this hammock is $389, the one we wanted is around $440, which is the upgraded model to this. ALso, it was not a prime item so had to pay for return shipping (so much!). So the hammock itself is amazing, just buy it on the Clark Outdoors website if you want it.

If you can find the trees, this thing is great!

So far so good - first time hanging it took us literally one minute to build. One recommendation - immediately replace the garbage suspension that comes with the hammock. No idea what Clark was thinking with that. I used the 13ft straps with clips and they work perfectly. I'm coming from years in a Hennessee Hammock, which was great - I just needed a second seat for my ladyfriend. The one issue we had was identification of 3 trees in the proper orientation. Even being surrounded by trees, it took us a solid 15-20 mins of wandering around looking for trees within tolerance. And that was with the upgraded, much more flexible suspension system. Otherwise though, this thing is legit.

Nice Hammock but the stitching makes it look low quality ...

Nice Hammock but the stitching makes it look low quality and quickly made. I believe it's a bit over priced.

We had purchased a double hammock from Enos and did not like it. We weren't looking for a backpacking hammock but one to replace our tent that we use for camping. We took this with us for our first trip up the coast of California. Nestled in the Redwood's, we used this for 4 nights of camping. It was AWESOME. Best sleep either of us has ever had on a camping trip. That was even after the fact that we still have some work to do setting it up correctly. It will take some practice to setup perfectly but we did fairly well after watching a couple videos and reading the instructions. We used our jeep for the foot end in one of the campgrounds that we stayed in as a band-aid since we didn't have a good third tree on that one. Worked fine, although there is no substitute for some good trees. We strung up the Goal Zero lights inside and it was super cozy. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the hammock, the quality and the comfort of this. We also bought the rain fly (reviewed separately but pretty awesome) and are going to be purchasing the liner for our epic camping trip next month.

Best tent ever!!

This is now our favorite tent to sleep in! We use it backpacking and it takes me(by myself) 2 minutes to setup. I don't like sleeping in other hammocks, they bend my body in half and it's near impossible to sleep two, but this tent solved those issues. We bought tree straps (3) to make life easy and it did, took me 10 minutes to setup the first time using thier ropes, but with the tree straps this tent is sooooo easy to adjust and setup! Camp sites are 3 trees that are on the right formation, so you will be looking at trees differently. Had this almost a year now, Havasupi Falls, Rocky mountains 4 times. I bought a heavier sleeping bag for the mountains due to the hammock's nature.(cold butt and back)

Well worth the money!

This hammock was purchased in the hopes of sharing the outdoors with my fiance. It's pretty much the highest quality hammock I have ever purchased. The construction and materials are top quality and best of all (MADE IN THE USA). I own other hammocks made by competitors and they don't come close in terms of craftsmanship, I know I will have this for years to come. This is the Cadillac of double hammocks and I can't wait to use it again.

If your're looking for a double that will blow your mind and make you feel at home outdoors, this is the hammock to buy!

Probably the best two person hammock on the market.

We bought our Vertex about five years ago to use for camping alongside waterways where it wasn't easy to find suitable land for traditional ground tents. It has been absolutely wonderful but it isn't as easy as setting up a ground tent.

If you have never used a hammock (like us) I strongly recommend watching all of the youtube videos as well as practicing. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes relatively easy. Instead of tying knots we use Nite Ize Figure 9's which when combined with the drip rings make setup and take down super easy. We use this tent on week long canoeing trips and by the second day setup takes about 10 minutes (after we remind ourselves of the basics).

We do not use quilts but the coldest we sleep in is usually 30 degrees (F) so we just lay our extra clothes under the sleeping bag and find that we are toasty.

The tent is roomy and each hammock is very independent of each other (you won't necessarily even notice when the other person leaves).

The over hanging rain fly allows you to take the tent down in pouring rain (if need be) and keeping the tent and you and your gear completely dry. It has also allowed us to stay dry while making breakfast on rainy mornings.

The center section (between the hammocks) is strong enough to hold our 60lb dog who BEGS to go to bed as soon as the hammock is up. Before the dog we stored ALL of our gear in this section. It's super strong with all kinds of organizational pockets.

Overall the only real limitations we find are
1). Most state parks don't allow hanging.
2). There are a few places in this world without trees or rocks. These tent won't work well in those places.
3). The hammock actually rolls up into one of it's own pockets and is secured with straps for storage. I believe our straps were sewn on backwards so we have to use an external strap to keep everything packed nicely.

For the price you may say to yourself "wow! That's too much!" This is an all in one system, you get everything you need to pull it out the shipping box and hang in the trees. For those who are just getting into the world of hammocks you can spend more than that!. By far the best product you can get. Clark wins in my opinion. My wife and I wanted to find a hammock that we could hike and camp with. This is the only hammock on the market that I know of that sleeps two, truly. We've spent for over nighters to spending weeks out on trips. From days of rain and sleeping in below freezing temperatures we stayed dry and warm everytime.

Clark Vertex 2-person Double Hammock
by Shinski (4 out of 5 stars)

First, let me say that my wife and I have been hammock camping exclusively for the past 7 years. We own many different types of hammocks, some from large companies and some from small cottage industry businesses. Anyone that has spent time camping in hammocks are generally aware of the many types of suspension systems and the feel that good hammocks bring.

We love our Clark Vertex hammock when we "car camp". We usually do not have trouble finding campsites that have the trees necessary for this type of hammock. (Clark instructions detail the optimum tree alignment that is best for this hammock.) However for a backcountry hammock, we would consider this to be a little heavy. So we would opt for individual hammocks.

It is roomy and easy to set up and the detail of sewing seems to be very good.

If I have any recommendations, I would use a different suspension instead of the light line that comes with it. I have read many reports of people who have purchased the Vertex and automatically changing the suspension. I did this first off before setting up the first time.

Second, I might use a heavier duty zipper.

And third, the poles provided seem cheap and do not have any cord (like shock cord) that many pole systems have to ease setting up and taking down without dropping or losing a pole. The joints do not hold the poles tight enough so that when setting up, they sometimes come apart unless pressure is applied the entire time of pushing through the sleeve. When taking it down, they tend to come apart in the sleeve making it a hassle to pull them out. I think a shock corded aluminum pole with clips instead of a sleeve would be a great improvement.

Many top of the line 3 and 4 season backpacking tents that cost less, have these features.

Having said all that, I am glad that Clark Hammocks have taken this on and we still enjoy it every time we use it. I think they are the only ones at this time making a two person hammock system.

Love this thing

I bought this hammock as it allowed me and my girlfriend to be in the same hammock comfortably for over night hikes and even small camping trips. We had never hammock camped before and after using this thing I dred using tents it's more comfortable then our bed at home. We have used it for 2.5 years now we added whoppie slings to make for an easy, fast and light weight set up, our vertex been through rain, snow and high speed winds and has never let us down. All in all it is a very well made product with a somewhat simple design that we love and recommend to everyone who like to be comfortable in the outdoors.
