Best Priced TRULY WASHABLE Keyboard One Can Find
by Ming W. (5 out of 5 stars)
November 29, 2016

I've had another version of the I-Rocks washable keyboards and they deliver as stated. It is truly washable and waterproof. I've purchased a lot of different kinds of washable keyboards before and for the money, this is the one. Due to a health condition and the need for the cleanest keyboard possible, I've experimented with a few others. Most others don't stand up to even a single washing under the faucet...Kensington Washable Keyboard didn't stand up to more than 5 washings, the GMYLES Washable Keyboard didn't make it past the first washing with 2 dead unresponsive keys, to name a few. The Logitech Washable Keyboard works well with floating keys and is truly waterproof but at $75, this I-Rocks keyboard beats it in terms of value, usability, and price. I've washed it 5 times and it still types without a problem. The keys require a little bit more effort to press but not at all like the uncomfortable silicone roll-up types. This looks and feels like a standard keyboard. Not as crisp in tactile sensation as floating keys with the clicking sound effect but still good enough to type on. All of the keys are of the right size; unlike other keyboards that have a small ENTER key or an overly small left SHIFT key. There is also a 10 key on the right side of the keyboard. Although it is wired, I'm not concerned about bluetooth capability since I'm using it with my laptop and a monitor. If you are looking for a truly washable and affordable keyboard, this is the one to go with. I'd like to get up in the review rankings so if you found that this review is helpful and saved you time, please let me know.

Washable - yes! But with some noticeable drawbacks.

Personally I don't like this keyboard at all but this is a decent keyboard for the purpose intended. It probably isn't so easy to build a washable keyboard and typing feel can be subjective. But I can say that this is the most difficult keyboard I have ever used to type on in my office and I think the action is short and like typing on a mushy sponge. As a touch typist I found it very difficult. And let me give you two very large caveats and why I marked this keyboard down:

If you look at the keyboard layout closely you'll realize they changed the standard keyboard - which is never a good idea.
1) The enter key has been made super huge and needless an extra large space into the top row above it where the pipe and front slash key usually is. Even if you don't use those keys, which you will if you do computer-based work, where they replaced it is even worse.
2) Look at the top row. Usually the backspace key is very large and it's used often. Unfortunately it's now half the size because the other key was placed up into the top row. I can't tell you how often I mistyped and it was unnecessarily annoying.

So if you're not a touch typist and don't do too much work but are a messy eater, maybe this keyboard is for you. But if you spend a lot of time in front of a screen and used to a standard keyboard, you'll have your regrets.

Stands up to teenager food-and-drink abuse!

Great keyboard for the price. My teenager is rough on keyboards, as he likes to nosh while gaming...so Mountain Dew and junk food have been the downfall of a couple of keyboards at my house. Washable keyboards such as this one is what I've been needing all along :-) And this one does the trick quite nicely...feels and acts like a regular keyboard PLUS the convenience of being able to take a rinse-off and head back into service.

Would definitely buy again...but here's hoping I don't have to for a while :-)

Truly, thoroughly washable. Great key feel. Warranty may mean it doesn't last years.

Love this thing. I have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) and also have to avoid mold spores as part of that. I haven't had a problem with this offgasing or exacerbating my sensitivities. Have washed thoroughly (soap, warm water, lots of scrubbing) a couple times now, and have used heavily for a couple months. The paint on the keyboard letters did fade a little bit after washing, but not very much -- still very easily visible, and the etched lettering helps guard against more of this fading. The keys are pretty smooth when pressed and still have a satisfying clicking sound. The backspace, enter, and forward-slash key orientation does take a little getting used to, but I found I was able to (mostly) adapt within a couple weeks.

The only potential downside I can see at this point is that it claims to have a 5-million-keystroke warranty. That may sound like a lot, but a heavy user, like me, goes through that many keystrokes in about a year and a half (possibly even faster). I would expect something like this to last longer. Hopefully that's a CYA inclusion and it does last. I'll keep an eye on it and try to update this review if problems arise.

So far so good!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

Having used many keyboards in my time, nothing about this unit makes me think this won't be anything but durable. I've been using it for about a month, and the keys click satisfyingly and consistently when pressed. It's nice to know I have some leeway as far as cleaning goes. I'm using this keyboard in a shop environment, and the dust accumulation alone (on basically everything) necessitates far more frequent cleaning than one might expect in an office environment. If I had to pick something to call a flaw, I suppose the keys; the literature mentions some sort of durable key marking so the letters don't wear off, and if that does indeed hold up, that's great. However, if the keys were perhaps engraved so the letters are below the surface of the key, that would basically ensure that the lettering can't wear off. But that would definitely be a more expensive board. For the money, I really cannot complain one whit.

Barely pass

This is a 2 star because some of the keys have to be hit pretty hard to work. I had it on my computer for a few days but couldn't stand typing on it because of missed letters (excessive pressure is required on some keys). It will work for our water jet because we hit keys harder out in the shop so I will keep it because we HAVE to have a water-proof keyboard in that environment.

Nice!

So far the wife hasn't ruined this one with her dripping wine glass. Nice!

EDIT: I have seen every thing dropped on this thing, salsa, water, wine, mustard...no worries. Once and a while, we just rinse it off with the sink hose, and let it dry...good to go.

Yes, it works!

Wow, just what I needed for my full body tub soaks, I ruined a couple regular keyboards from water dripping from my fingers from the tub water. This keyboard works like a champ, wet fingers and all! Good layout, comfortable to type on, good price...

Great keyboard, like the thinness of it and it ...

Great keyboard, like the thinness of it and it is a very quiet keyboard. Haven't tried the washable function yet. If I ever spill coffee on this I'll let you know how it goes. Only bad thing is that the backspace button is smaller than on other computers but you get used to it.

I Rocks Washable Keyboard

Works great in a wet environment. We are using this on a computer next to our plasma cutter and it gets splashed with water quite often. Just wipe it off when it gets wet with no adverse effects.
