The OUTAD Windproof Portable Camping Stove can boil 1 liter of water in as quick as 2.5 minutes, thanks to the wind deflector which enhances heating efficiency greatly. The unique design is constructed from stainless steel and aluminum alloy to create one of the lightest and most portable camping stoves on the market. The included carrying case further adds to the portability as it can simply be tossed in a box without worry. Let me start out this review saying that I bought the Etekcity Ultralight Portable Outdoor Backpacking Camping Stove first and while impressed I noticed how the Jetboil and Snow Peak products that my buddies were using were heating up their water so much faster. So while looking for a stronger stove it came down to the OUTAD and Avinee stoves but they were the same price and weight and this OUTAD came with a carrying case so it was a no brainer. I recently took it on a backpacking trip and it stood toe to toe with the Jetboil and the Snow Peak at a fraction of the cost. You could buy this stove and cookware and still pay less than a JetBoil. It also is cheaper than the Snowpeak and has a windguard. It also much more versatile than the Jetboil because you can use cookware on it were as the jetboil just seems to only work for its container. The setup is quick and easy if you have ever used a backpacking stove before. The case is nice and solid, I like the fact that they use orange so that it does not blend into the ground when camping. It is small and compact so I can put it into my backpack no problem. The flame packs good power and the stove is very stable. Pros: - Much more powerful than the smaller stoves like Etekcity - More versatile than the Jetboil - Much cheaper than the Jetboil and Snow Peak brands - Solid case - Easy to use, very stable design - Low weight 9 ozs- great for backpacking Cons - Double the weight of the Etekcity but it also heats the water up much much faster. - Need a lighter or match to start- no ignition I recommend it out of all the brands I mentioned above. Its lightweight, strong, and comes at a great price.

Great size for camping!

I bought this as a camp stove (I already own a MUCH smaller backpacking stove) and I've only used it once at the moment, but I have a lot of positive things to say about this particular stove. I purchased this because it has a much wider base for pots which is great because I own the Sea to Summit X pot series and the largest pot is 2.5 L so the stability that this provides over my tiny backpacking burner is exceptional! One of the photos I posted shows an ~8in pan on the burner and I was able to get a nice even sear on the onions I was sauteing. The case that the burner comes in is about 3.5x3.5x3.5 which is a very reasonable size for the output and capability of this burner. I like that it doesn't sit right on top of the fuel canister (isobutane), but this may mean, in some cases, that you need to bring something flat to sit the burner on since the legs are quite small. I personally will probably wrap some aluminum foil around a sturdy piece of cardboard and bring that along with me on camping trips. Overall I'm very satisfied with this! I'll update my review if anything changes. Take a chance on this burner!

Feels very very well made, all the joints feel very solid when folding\unfolding the unit.

When it's unfolded it feels very stable, large pots, even the ones we use at home, can easily be placed on top. No need to worry something will fall of or anything.

The flame this thing puts out is massive, great for the large pots, but when using a small pot, the stove can't be operated at full strength, otherwise the entire pot will be engulfed by flame.

It's a bit heavier than a typical stove which screws on the top of the canister, just something to bare in mind.

The only drawback, really, is the lack of a built in igniter. But that's okay since I'm always carrying a lighter\matches\striker anyway.

Insane output, works with propane with adapter

This little guy puts out a ton of power. With an adapter it will work with propane making it a great stove for backpacking or car camping. I'm going to replace my big heavy stove with this one. On low it will boil 2 cups of water in 5 minutes, I didn't test high because I was indoors and the flame this thing puts out is insane. The only change they could have made is put a 90 degree angle on the gas connection at the base to make storing it easier so it doesn't kink the hose. Be warned, most of this stove will get very hot and stay hot for a while.

I bought this stove for a 12 day trek 165 miles long and let me tell you this stove really helped the tiring days even tho it's not extralight weight like others it works better, this stove has a wind protection that helps liquid/food heat up faster, the burners heat distribution is somewhat very good for its compact size.

Hight quality as well, it's meant to last,

I totally recommend this stove if you are not trying to shave off grams of weight for its price I say it's worth it's money.

Pros:

Highly quiality

Has wind shield

Good and strong heat distribution "good for ur cooking staff pots pans etc."

Folds to small compact size

Cons:

A little heavier then most

Has a "hose" to connect gas tank etc.

No "auto" ignition

I have used this stove on a couple of camping trips, and while it will not blow out in the wind, it does need a wind screen to protect the pan/pot from being cooled in the wind.

It is low and stable, and works well with a small fry pan. The heat is spread out more evenly than some of the ultralight canister top style stoves.

No hot spot in the middle of the fry pan while making hash browns.

It does not seem as fuel efficient as some of the direct flame style stoves. This is probably because a high percentage of the heat produced by the flame is keeping the screen on top red hot. The red hot screen is what makes it very hard to blow out in the wind. The metal screen is above the flash point of the butane gas, and just re-ignites the flame if it were to try and go out.

The stove itself also stays rather hot for quite a while after it is turned off, no packing it up right away.

None of this is a deal breaker, and the stove will get used more, mostly for car camping trips where bringing extra fuel is not a problem.

Move over Jetboil

I have been a hardcore Jetboil fan for years. Felt like I wanted something I could cook on so I picked up this inexpensive stove. Very impressed so far. Boils water in half the time. Not too affected by the wind. No scientific data, but after a week of daily use I don't think it used any more butane than the Jetboil. Amazingly stable once the legs are deployed. I have a Coleman sportsman dual fuel that I regularly use, but pans seem even more stable on this little stove. Is it an MSR?....not by any means. But it's way less expensive and probably more than sufficient for most of us.

no fire power! Can't heat anything!

With a new Optimus gas can hooked up, this unit gives only a flame that looks like a candle flame. Nothing close to heating up anything!

After bought it a year ago, I tried to light it up; and I was terribly disappointed. The gas can was brand new, also bought at the same time as this one in Amazon. My friends and I looked around for any leaks or blockage but none found. I just checked Youtube demo of this unit, and it's nothing like that flame. So embarrassed in front of my friends in our hiking trip.

I just used this stove on a 5 day backpack trip and was very pleased with how it performed. The stove cooks well at both high heat and simmering and is simple to use. I also like the sturdiness. The legs are solid and stable and the cooking platform easily accommodated all our pots and pans, including a metal cup to reheat coffee. There are lighter stoves that offer similar features, but I am happy to carry the extra 50 grams of weight to have the durability and balanced strength of the OUTAD. Many kudos for an excellent product.

Bad design will failed within 10 or so uses.

Bad design, that metal piece that covers the gas holes is made out of cheap metal and it starts to flake when it cools down. Within 10 uses it gone. See the pictures below.
