A Great Backpack for Camping and Hikingby Robert Bolton (4 out of 5 stars)
December 11, 2015
For the sake of full disclosure, I recently received this camouflage backpack through an offer by the manufacturer, but if I had severe trepidation in offering my honest opinion, I would simply not write a review. So far I have found this backpack to be useful, albeit an item that I do not use in my day-to-day life as a lawyer. However, I was able to put it to extremely good use in my personal life within a few days of receiving it in the mail. We have had good weather in my state for this time of year, so I decided to go on a weekend hike recently and wanted to use the backpack.
I found that the item fit rather snugly, but that it was an appropriate size if you wanted to carry a few items for a picnic or some camping gear. While the picture is accurate in regard to its colors, you should be aware that the size is not comparable to that of a military backpack or even one used by a high schooler. The main item it is instead designed to hold is water. Included within the backpack is a plastic green water bladder. Its 2.5 liters equates to just under a gallon, but given the size of the backpack, the mouth of the pocket, and how rough your walking path will be, I would recommend that you use only a half-gallon to two-thirds of a gallon. Also, the cloth iis relatively thin, so if it bursts there will likely be little to stop it ruining any other items tucked within the backpack. If you elect to forgo the bladder and just store hard items, you should have more than enough space for any day trip.
The bladder is relatively easy top use. One end has a cap you unscrew to quickly fill the water. Once it is tightly capped, at whatever point you are thirsty, you can pull out the house, remove the tube's cap, and then remove the nipple to suck on the water. The tube itself can be unscrewed when the bladder is not in use.
There are also a substantial number of cloth and plastic hooks on which to hang it, and the shoulder straps can be snapped to hold backpack in place on your shoulders. On the whole, I found this to be a great backpack for light hiking and a useful water holder. I highly recommend its purchase.
