Practical, portable, powerful and plenty of fun!

I've had the URB-E Black Label Electric Folding Scooter for less than 24 hours and just took a 10-mile ride, here are my initial impressions. Looks super cool as it's great-looking. Solidly built with high quality materials, definitely not a toy. Packaged well, minimal assembly was really easy and took less than 10 minutes (mount the front fork with 4 bolts and tighten them down). Folds and unfolds really easily. Kickstand keeps it standing up nicely whether open or folded up. When collapsed it wheels around really easily and you maneuver it like you would a wheelbarrow, and the wheels roll up and down stairs easily. This is important since picking it up and carrying it for long distances isn't practical due to the overall weight and lack of a great handhold or grab strap (to lift it when folded, your fingers (or 3 of them) fit in one of the holes under the seat). Seat is full-size and more comfortable than one might expect- although you do feel jolts from cracks due to small wheel size (mitigated by a shock under the seat which definitely softens things up). Acceleration is immediate and I reached a top speed close to 15mph (wearing a helmet is a must). Loses steam going up hills but made it. Feels like it might benefit from being rear wheel drive as that's where your body weight is compressing, so sometimes needed to shift my weight slightly forward to put pressure on the front fork in order to maximize traction (it's front wheel drive); but not an issue. Very tight turning radius possible due to small tires. Disc brake is responsive and does the job nicely. Battery indicator on handlebar is nice but only shows 3 settings (full, half and empty)- not a super reliable way to gauge how much power you have left. Missing / things that would improve the experience but aren't deal-breakers: plastic cap over battery only snaps into place and can be removed (stolen) easily. Can't operate the unit unless key is in ignition (would be nice to be able to remove it). Turn signals, horn and removable rear view mirrors that mount into the handlebar ends should come standard. Taillight is better than nothing but it's not adequate. Sleeve inserts don't sit flush inside the battery tube (taping them to the inside helps). Inability to register the unit with the MFR is a bummer. The biggest miss is the lack of an app (to see more accurate battery %age, speed, distance, etc). Overall I love it. I own other battery-powered personal transportation devices and although this is the largest, it's also the most comfortable for longer duration trips and the fact it can go 20 miles on a single charge (I haven't gone this far yet) is impressive. A lot of fun to ride, and definitely a conversation-starter- people stared at it, came up and asked me how it ran, what's it called, etc. Other than using it for fun, I can see several practical uses: trips to the grocery store when not picking up a lot of stuff, short trips getting around town, take on car trips / vacations, useful at sports tournaments, a fun way to explore the city in conjunction with METRO and/or bus, tooling around campus or a large workplace, etc. I'm stoked on my new URB-E and will be looking for any opportunity as an excuse to ride it!

*BATTERY DiED @2-3k MiLES* *2 BROKEN CARTS* *SEAT-BOLT RECALL*... STiLL LOVE iT LOL!!
by Ruby (3 out of 5 stars)

This is more of a luxury item then a everyday get you to work kind of vehicle... in my experience!!

First off in only 2-3k miles the battery died after being stated to be a 10k battery.

Second there was a recall on the bolt that holds the seat on... lol.

Third I bought two ($50) cart accesories and they both broke at the solders, which seem to be weak at least on mine. I never used more then reccomended weight wise and I didn't use the carts very often. One they replaced for me, then the second they said they usually don't send out carts because they don't have a warranty... bummer I don't know if I will buy another, most likely not.

Overall though I would reccomend because it is super cool. Sometimes when you buy something pricey, you don't always get what you pay for. I think when the company gets more established, then these problems may dissapear or I could have been really unlucky.

Mind you I take good care of mine as reccomended, if anything I am OCD about it... it sleeps in my bedroom haha@

Am × military with many years,of whear from service time and life at sea as a Merchant Marine. I feel lucky I found this product as it has given me back my independence. The cane sits and the walker gathers dust. I use the bike all the time. I can now go any where around town in and out of stores all day if I choose. I am very polite in stores and all ways give the public the right of way.... No complaints at all. this is not a extreme sports bike. I would like to see it in some forms of colors that honor our new vets ...I like it's small footprint and you can fold and walk with it anywhere... I have been allowed to use it inside all stores. no more drive around looking for parking with short trips to the local store. This bike has given me back a quality of life I thought I had lost forever...THX URB-E Team.

I naught this scooter in 2017 it stopped working after 8 months ! I must say when it works it's awesome! I reached out to the company it took. Them 4 months to reply . I told them my battery no longer works please send a replacement . They say I'm sorry we don't stock any only slightly used ones for 300$ really !? For an expensive scooter like this they really don't hold up to their standards. But like i said it's good when it works

UPDATE!
6-30-17

This is my second season with my URB-E after the Chicago winter and imagine my disappointment when I could only go half a block before my battery died. In all fairness the battery warranty had expired but I could barely afford the unit as is, I did not know how I was going to afford a new battery. I was crushed. I have been working with the very kind customer care agent by the name of Brandt. He tried to help me in any way that could. At the very end he brought my situation to the CEO. In incredible kindness they shipped me a brand new battery and charge at no cost. I am just at a loss at how to explain what a great product and company this is. I am happy to be back up and running using my URB-E. Thank you Brandt and thank you URB-E for helping me out! Please continue to my original review that stands true today!

First thing is I have MS. I am fortunate enough to still have a good sense of balance. What I don't have is a prolonged strength in my legs. So I did not want to go full on electric scooter (hopefully not for a few years anyways). I wanted something in between. After a lot of research I found URB-E.
My primary concern was cost. It was way outside of my budget. Because of the uniqueness of this device I would not get any funding (MS). At the same time this looked to be exactly what I was hoping to find.
I took a chance and financed it. I am happy to report that it was exactly what I was hoping for. I live in Chicago and used to be able to walk to a great many places. As time has gone on, my circle or area of walking was getting smaller and smaller. Not anymore. With URB-E I am able to go anywhere I used to be able to go and much much further. URB-E has given back my freedom.
Right out of the box you will realize the incredible hand built quality. Every detail is perfect. From the battery, the airplane aluminum frame, and the very comfortable seat, all of it is extreme quality. Setup was super easy. After a small charge, I was ready to go.
Again living in Chicago, the sidewalks and streets can be pretty rough. I was worried about handling and balance. There was no need. While my balance isn't the best, URB-E is very easy to drive and control even on the sidewalks of Chicago. I should also mention comfort. I am 6'2 and 175 pounds and the ride is very comfortable. The seat is comfortable with a well adjusted spring shock absorber just below it.

I cannot recommend the URB-E enough. As I said it has given me my freedom back and I am excited every day, whether it is to just explore or run errands, I know I will have a blast.

Photo includes additional basket purchased at URB-E's home page.

Amazing product, phenomenal customer service
by Mickey (5 out of 5 stars)

Amazing product, phenomenal customer service! I have so much to say but I would rather not bore you. I have had my URB-E for about a year and I miss it since I am from New York and its far too cold for me to ride. Goes without saying people are intrigued by it and always ask questions. I love people so it is nice to have such a fantastic conversation starter.

Aside from the good conversation this machine is unbelievable for anyone looking for an alternate means of transportation. Throughout the summer I used my URB-E (aka Harlito [little Harley]) almost daily on a ride that is tremendously bumpy, hilly and Harlito handled it like a champ. I had some minor issues with my handle bars and the URB-E team was outstanding with helping me through my issues, they have a great staff and the founder and lead engineer really care about their clients. I am an URB-E advocate and I am grateful to the company for helping me regain some of my freedom since I am unable to drive at this time.

It was well worth the investment and I would recommend URB-E to anyone inquiring.

The Urb-e makes what would be the worst part of my day into the best part

I live in Napa Valley and work in Silicon Valley. I take it on the ferry from Vallejo to The Embarcadero in San Francisco. From there I ride my Urb-e to the CalTrain Station (just past AT&T Park). I take Cal Train to San Mateo then ride! The Urb-e makes what would be the worst part of my day into the best part. Thanks! I get stopped all the time in the city by people who want to know what I'm riding. Several people have actually taken my picture.

True Commuting Scooter within 20 miles
by Archie (5 out of 5 stars)

This scooter look unique design. The structure well made, well finished black color anodized aluminum. No cheap look. When ride for the first time a bit awkward, balancing from its small tire not take too long. After some time, feel better and confident. The saddle large enough to hold adult rider, but feel a bit slipery, i hope it should be more rubbery feeling to get more rigid. More than one hour riding on flat road w/ some ascending, the battery still hold w/ remaining 30 percent at least, the motor still ok and feel still strong in performance. It folded and expanded quickly. When folded, a bit clumsy to move it because both tire on the same line. For me, It better to move for storing in expanded mode, folding for storing can be done later when it reach destination. In overall, it fun to ride, except you feel bumpy compare to real bicycle size, off course because it smaller tires. But saddle suspension reduce much the bumpiness when ride in the irregular surfaces. For such small size scooter, it is amazing to reach far distance that i doubted previously if it can. You may feel awkward as passerby staring at you everytime you stop at traffic light. Anyhow that the consequences of having something different on the road. Overall, i feel good having this scooter. I am thinking to commute w/ this one to office, eventhough i dont need too, I am in Houston, not in Newyork....

Most Incredible Product I've Ever Purchased!
by Hudson (5 out of 5 stars)

What an amazing electric vehicle!!! It's lightweight, portable and gets me quickly to wherever I want to go in the City without the hassles of traffic, gas or parking. It folds and unfolds in literally one second. You sit down, turn the throttle and off you go! The ride is super-comfortable. The battery lasts me many days of use (something like 20 miles). When it needs a charge, I just plug the battery into a regular socket and in less than four hours it's fully charged. My hat is off to URB-E for coming up with such an innovative product.

I can't get over the quality of this thing. I think consumers have gotten very cynical about low-quality products manufactured overseas. What drew me to URB-E is that it is made in Pasadena, California. That fact alone told me these guys care deeply about quality and not about finding the lowest-cost producer in some far-away country who cares not one bit about consumer experience or frustration. I am the type willing to pay more for a product that will last a lifetime. Frankly, if you are even thinking about purchasing an electric vehicle made overseas, my advice is to stop your search and just purchase an URB-E. I've searched high and low, and there is nothing in the market that is this good.

This vehicle exudes quality the moment you take it out of the box. It's a stunning work of art. Aircraft aluminum, carbon fiber, sport-tuned throttle, rear-disc brakes, seat shock absorption system, etc., etc. The lines are all clean and the assembly is immaculate. It feels incredibly strong and durable. Not only is this beautifully designed, but there is some serious engineering talent that went into this product.

The proof, of course, is in the riding. I've ridden my URB-E practically everywhere for many months. NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM. I've ridden over curbs, through puddles, maybe pushed it farther than a normal rider should. AND STILL NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM. The acceleration is super quick from a standing start, the ride is as smooth as butter, and the vehicle can stop on a dime. Quiet and effortless. What more could I ask for from a personal electric vehicle?

Maybe the biggest problem is that wherever I go with my URB-E, folks gather. They can't help themselves. It just draws a crowd. When I let them test-ride it, their eyes grow big and they can't believe this thing exists. The next question from them, of course, is where to get one. It's been fun being one of the first people to own one, but I think the secret is getting out very quickly. One of my nephews texted me the other day that he saw one zipping by in Penn Station in Manhattan. I guess they soon will be everywhere.

In any event, these guys have totally won me over with the innovation, quality and attention to detail that shines throughout the URB-E. I'm now a lifelong fan of this company and anything they produce. This is the way products should be made. Thank you, URB-E!!!

Beyond useful, beyond helpful

I have been using my brand spanking new urb-e for a week or so now. I work as a home visiting nurse for the elderly and have to park far often due to high population neighborhoods here in Los Angeles. So far, it has been a godsend to use my urb-e. For the size and weight, it's a breeze folding up and lugging in and out of my Honda Civic's trunk, with half a trunk's room to spare - this is despite the 7-8 trips in and out of my car that I do. The ride is sturdy and secure, you feel it more than powerful enough to propel you forward to where you need to go. With such an ergonomically designed machine, it both shows off how aesthetically pleasing it is as well as how humbly practical its services are. It draws attention because of its new and different design, but once someone gets over the initial novelty of its appearance, people are quick to appreciate the efficiency of design and innovation of machinery being so small. The staff at the company are more than willing to help with questions anyone's got, and it's just superb service all in all. The location of the store in Pasadena is prime and if anyone is in the area, I highly recommend to at least pop in and try the ride - I did once and I was hooked!
