Product Description

Traditional wood chip or pellet smokers create a smoky environment within your grill that adds delicious flavor to your meal. These small-but-mighty smoke pucks pack even more punch than traditional smokers. The pucks’ directed vents force the smoke out exactly where you want it: onto your food. This set of two pucks also allows you to surround your meat with flavor, and their small size means they get in close. These pucks can use either wood pellets or traditional wood chips. Even better, you can skip soaking the chips ahead of time and pour them right into your smoke pucks.

HOW TO USE: Open your smoke puck's lid and add chips or pellets, then replace the lid. Put the pucks on the grill grate, close grill lid and pre-heat. As your grill heats up, smoke will emerge from the smoke pucks' main vent. If using pellets, smoke should appear within 15 minutes; with wood chips, smoke should appear in 20. (Please note that wood chips do not need to be soaked prior to use in the smoke puck.) Once the grill has come to the desired temperature, place food in the grill near smoke pucks (with the vent pointed toward the food). Close the lid during cooking. Add more chips or pellets as needed. Smoke should last about 45 minutes to 1 hour with pellets, and 30 to 45 minutes with traditional wood chips.

PLEASE NOTE: If using a gas grill, we recommend placing the smoke pucks away from the burners to produce smoke for as long as possible. Placing the smoke pucks directly above the burners may cause them to heat up too quickly, thus reducing smoke time.

PLEASE NOTE: The Smoke Pucks are intended for use on a grill. We encourage customers to pre-heat their grills to at least 400 F.

CARE: Allow to cool before cleaning. Do not use abrasive scrubbers. Dishwasher safe.

CAUTION: Smoke pucks will get very hot. Use heat-safe gloves when handling. Be sure used wood chips or pellets are cool before disposing.

These thing are perfect for me! Just what I was looking for!

These thing are perfect for me. Just what I was looking for. I was looking for something for smoking chips in my grills. I needed something small since I'm only using a Smoke Joe or Q 1000 grill. I found that most all smoker boxes are huge ... they'd take up half the Smokey Joe. I was going to just drill some holes in a tuna can but I wondered about the coatings and the high temperature and all, and I also wanted a cover to limit flareup. I really wanted them made from stainless steel and small, so these things are perfect. The little directing chimneys are a nice added design feature any engineer would like. These things are just what I want. Cheers!

but are pretty overhyped. The good
by M. Johnston (3 out of 5 stars)

These work ok, but are pretty overhyped.

The good: they produce smoke and take up very little space on my grill (I have a small 21" diameter gas grill). Dry wood chips started smoking in 15 to 20 minutes of preheat and there was still a little smoke (and I am talking wisps) after about 30 minutes.

The bad: They don't hold very many chips, so the amount of smoke produced in minimal. The chips ignited just as they started to smoke good. The vents on top don't really "direct smoke over your food". There is not enough airflow through the holes on the side and up to push the smoke out in any sort of direction as the product picture . The smoke just sort of goes upward (as it wood with any other wood chip box).

Conclusion: The materials used in manufacture are good and they do produce smoke. Next time I will probably use both pucks at the same time to double the amount of smoke. The chips do ignite which reduces the efficiency. Good but don't set really high expectations.

WOWSER - I LIKE THE PUCK RESULTS
by Walla Walla, WA (5 out of 5 stars)

I finally got to test these babies. I used both pucks with the Smoke House Wood Chips, fine cut. I bought the pucks to replace my old cast iron box (4" x 8" by 1"). The old cast iron had too thick a base and heated very slowly; so little smoke on a quicker grilled meal. I am just cooking lighter fare for the Mrs and me. The pucks have a thinner base and began to smoke much more quickly. I placed one above the direct flame and the other above the heat shield (most grills do not heat evenly and I use that to my advantage). That way the pucks smoked at separate times, one after the other and the first started fairly quickly. I just served up a couple of burgers tonight. I did not use condiments or cheese. I wanted to taste test the results. WOW! My wife and I were VERY pleased w/ the added smoke flavor. You know a good smoke when you do not want adders like condiments or sauce. That's the way this one turned out. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

Great for Portable Weber gas grill
by Melanie KA (5 out of 5 stars)
June 30, 2018

As someone who is pretty far from a Grill Meister, this worked easily and well for me. I have a portable gas Weber grill, which for some reason just does NOT impart a grill flavor to my food (and I've never smoked anything in my life - only grilled), but this was small enough that I could still fit a decent amount on the grill grate with it, and it imparted a nice flavor to my burgers and hot dogs. I wanted to do Chicken as well, but had to CLEAN the grill in between. Since grill is small, I had to re-load it a 2nd time, but when I pulled the smoker off, there were still wood chips which had not completely burnt yet, after approximately an hour, I'd guess. I do think if I had wanted to grill longer, I would have needed to add more chips or put on the 2nd smoker that comes in the package. Delighted with these!

Grate Product for Grilling!
by Bob P. (5 out of 5 stars)

These work real well. Pellets burn down to mostly white ash. Had been using pellets directly on GrillGrates (messy) or in a foil pouch. Good size to easily move with tongs. Accepts a good quantity of pellets or wood chips. Great product, good price.

Nice concept

We've tried every trick people have commented with to get these to time with smoking meat on the grill but they just too small to flavor it. I love the concept but ultimately they just didn't work for us

I didn't need 2 gave one as a gift. Like better than the long style. I can put enough chips or pellets in a smaller 2 burner grill. Work great

Awesome! Love using these on the grill to add ...
by Matt Keith (5 out of 5 stars)
July 12, 2018

Awesome! Love using these on the grill to add that extra flavor. Read the directions closely though, it can take up to 20 mins for the smoke to start to appear, wait till the smoke starts and then start the cooking. Anyone looking to kick up the grill game a notch should get these

Loose Lid
by Perry Frensley (2 out of 5 stars)
February 25, 2018

My problem with these pucks is that the lids do not lock or even snap shut. The first thing that happened to me was one false move and mesquite wood chips all over the deck. Clumsy me? Maybe. But a better lid would be nice.
