Kylo Ren Xcoser Costume Review

Pros:

Great Quality for the Price

At first I was very, VERY, hesitant to buy a costume that cost over $100 but I must say that after wearing it I realized that this costume could sell in the 200-300 price range. So for the price, XCOSER is giving you great quality. The fabric is heavier than the traditional Halloween costume which can be both a pro or a con, depending on your personal preference, but I was fine with it.

Gives the Best Kylo Ren Look Available

Upon putting on the costume I was amazed at how good it looked. And I love that it has multiple layers and that you can wear the tunic without the hood and the scarf. Also, the gloves and the belt were pretty good! I thought they were going to be huge on me but they fit fine. Some people do not like that the belt buckle is greyish but I think it looks fine.

Now here is why I didn't give this a full 5 stars.

Cons:

The Inner Tunic runs small in sleeves and shoulders

Inner tunic can be very tight on arms & shoulders. I ordered a MEDIUM because I am 5'7 and about 150lbs. The whole costume fit me great in length but the inner tunic was so tight in the arms and shoulders that I could hardly wear it and I even had some shoulder pain the next day from trying to take it off. I felt like a magician trying to get out of a straight-jacket. To be more specific, my arms are about 13-14 inches around the peak of my biceps and my chest measurement is around 38-39 inches. Unless you have a small or slim frame, I recommend that you either get a costume fit or that you email XCOSER to send you a size up on the inner tunic.

The Cape/Scarf

While the scarf is really nice and it tries to imitate what Kylo Ren wears in the movie, I think that this is the least screen accurate piece of the costume. The reason why it's not accurate is because Kylo Ren doesn't actually wear a scarf. What he has is more of a battle-worn, hooded cape. The scarf would look fine from the front but often roll up and give an incomplete look from the back (check out the picture).With that being said, the scarf provided can give a good impression of his cape if wrapped properly around the neck and shoulders and if the ends that hang in your back are fully extended in width. I wish there was an insert slip in the costume box with some tips on how to properly wrap the scarf for convenience but it's one of those things that you can figure out on your own. ALSO, maybe if the scarf had a pin or a Velcro strip somewhere around ¾ from the ends it would be able to attach both sides and give a closer look to a damaged cape.

Overall:

This costume really surprised me in its quality and detail. I love how nice the fabric is and how authentic it looks compared to the Standard and the Deluxe Kylo Ren Halloween Costumes. As long as you get the right size for the inner tunic and you make the scarf work, you will love the costume. Add a mask, boots, black pants, and Kylo's light saber and you are ready to awaken the dark side of the force.

I'm a female who ordered it because I love the dark side and didn't know how it would fit so I went with a medium since I'm a little on the plus size and I'm 5'2.

When I received the costume everything was packaged beautifully in individual plastic zip lock bags. I love the costume and even though it not completely identical to the movie version it comes pretty damn close. For me it wasn't about being completely identical to the real Kylo and or making sure it is exactly like the movies. For me it was more about having fun in getting to be a villain and getting a chance to be the character.

Anyways I had to get it tailored since I am short and the robe is pretty long but overall I love it and can't wait to wear it at future cons!

Amazing costume for the cost

Wow. I'm really impressed with this costume for the price. The same from ANOVOS is several thousand dollars...

I'm 5'6" and 160lbs and the Medium was supposed to fit me. The internal shirt is a smidge tight around the shoulders for me and the overcoat is about 6" too long. The waist belt fits, but it runs small for my gut and exposes velcro in the back. A better solution would have been to have it fasten in front under the "buckle". I may modify the belt to fit that way. As for the cloak/hood/overcoat, a bit of tailoring is needed to fit me better. The weave of the hood/cloak/overcoat is really nice and heavy. Wear this outside though as you'll be sweating to death in any indoor/warm environment.

I took away one star only for the design choice of the cloak/hood. The hood is snapped on and is separate from the cloak. The cloak is a huge scarf and to get the same Kylo look, you'll need to wrap/pin it in place. It would have been great to have it be part of the hood as a whole, but that would have made it more expensive i'd imagine.

Beautifully made costume. First of all, this isn't your typical store bought costume with the thin material. This material is high quality and has a good weight to it. Comes in three main pieces: Inner tunic, outer tunic, and scarf. Hood detaches from the outer tunic via buttons if you desire. Hood is quite big, so it looks like it should be able to accommodate those bigger Kylo Ren helmets that are around. Enough material to have the typical Kylo Ren look where the hood flares out to the sides when the helmet is worn. I found the length of the outer tunic about 6 - 7 inches too long, so had to modify it by cutting the extra length and sewing it back. No problem really though, I'd rather them give too much material than too little. For taller people over 6', it should fit a lot better. Gloves aren't really that great of quality, and aren't really screen accurate. Luckily you can buy some Kylo Ren gloves for ~$25 on Amazon if you look around. Lots of material on the scarf as well, makes it perfect to cut and modify to your liking.

I'm a fairly small guy (5'6" 150 lbs), so after reading the reviews, I was thinking of 'sizing up' as others have mentioned. According to the chart provided by Xcoser, the medium should fit me given my measurements. I went with the medium and everything fits like it should. The inner tunic is a little tight, but certainly ideal. If you have a bigger upper body, I'd definitely suggest sizing up.

This is a perfect Kylo Ren costume for anyone wanting a quality costume without spending the big money. I would say this quality lies in between your typical store-bought costume and the more expensive $3000 costumes. For the price and quality, I don't think you can really beat this costume without spending ridiculous amounts of money.

This costume is awesome! I got this for my 10 year old, he is a little thick so he usually wears a mens medium. This fit him perfect except for the length of the outside robe but this is expected because its supposed to fit an adult. I just have to look for an alteration place near me and this costume is good for years. My other two kids tried it on and it fit my oldest the best. I am happy with the cost and the item. Next time I will get it made to fit! Picture is of my 16 yr old son.

If you've read the other reviews, then you should know the issues by now:
* The belt is probably too small (you will need to make alterations if you don't want the velcro to show)
* The hood is attached by snaps
* The robe is too long (I trimmed mine by about 8 inches so it wouldn't drag on the ground)
* the inner tunic might be tight depending on your body type
* the costume is a bit on the warm side.

All that said, it is well made, and you will get lots of compliments and many requests for pictures.

Very pleased, material is of good heavy grade, not silky and cheap like other costumes. Probably not 501 level but for the Star Wars enthusiast on a reasonable budget, this looks awesome. Already received several positive comments from friends and Family. I would definitely order future costumes from this manufacture.

The inner tunic is tight around the shoulders and elbows but the overall fit is great. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the look. The caplet works best with some safety pins to hold it in the proper place. Really great costume. Highly recommended!

Amazing costume, high quality fabric, everything was perfect except for inner tunic being very tight. I'm 5'7" about 160 lbs so I ordered a medium but will definitely reorder a large sized tunic.

Value for your dollar you won't find any better Kylo Ren Costume. Shoulders are a bit tight but for the cost of the costume that's completely trivial.
