Sad that this really doesn't smell like old books as it should. More of a perfume smell. That's annoying.

Cute novelty, not a great candle

I ordered this candle as a little add on to my husband's bday gift as he loves anything related to books/reading. It was packaged very nicely, perfect for gift giving.

The problem is that:

A) it doesn't have the smell of old books (musty & sweet)

B) has almost zero throw. You can hardly smell it even when you're up close.

C) although the candle burns down fairly evenly, the wick burns in a strange way. The flame gets very tall and flickers a lot which quite unsafe.

I burn a ton of candles, have something going almost every day, from inexpensive brands to more high end options so I have to say other than the cute label this candle is not worth your money. It fulfilled its purpose of a cute novelty and now I'm just burning it to burn it.

I only ordered tbis because my stepdaughter really wanted this for christmas. I think it is highly overpriced for thw small size it is. Shes happy with it.

I ordered this candle as a gift for a book lover in my life. It didn't smell like a book or old library at all, just a regular candle. I gave it three stars simply because it did burn cleanly and for a long time but a plain scented candle isn't worth almost $20.

That being said, the candle DOES smell very nice, with a delicate scent that is definitely not overpowering like so many others. But we've burned the candle several times and still don't find it to be anything like an old book. We have hundreds of antique/old books, and the candle doesn't have the musty aroma of old paper & leather & dusty shelves. That's what we anticipated. Maybe others will find it to have that blend of scents, but we didn't. It's still a nice candle.

The candle had a light vanilla smell until I lit it. Then it had little to no smell at all. In no way is this worth the cost. ONE book would smell stronger than this Old Books candle.

Eh. It has a very pleasant smell. Lovely packaging. But it doesn't smell a thing like old books. More like a fruity vanilla smell.

does not have very much scent when not burning but when you light it there is no scent at all. i dont know what the smell is but it isn't old books, not bad just definitely not old books. i wouldn't buy again essentially because while lit there is no smell at all.

This candle smells like lemon meringue pie, absolutely nothing like old books. $18 wasted on a gimmick.
