This is not the Death Star Levitating Speaker you are looking for....

I've had mine for a week now, its in my office impressing everyone that see's it. When its levitating and playing music and has its lights on its a great, impressive device. The only problem is that its a pain to get floating, and unless you want to ignore the Bluetooth capabilities of the device and just leave it plugged in levitating then you'll have to take the orb off daily to charge or just to turn it on once the bluetooth auto-shutdown comes on if no music is played for 5 minutes or so. I've gotten it to levitate probably a dozen times but it is a loud, annoying process that I have yet to master and doubt I ever will with how random it is. The orb smacking against the base when you fail makes you want to smash the thing on the ground. Also, the power buttons on the orb have already become damaged after failing to get the thing to levitate and having it smash against the magnet base. I can no longer just turn the orb on with my fingers but need to press sharply with a pen just to turn it on, I imagine the thing won't even turn on pretty soon after the beatings it takes from the base when it doesn't levitate. I never used any of these levitating orb devices so maybe they all have this problem, I am not sure. I should have waited for a second generation of this item where maybe they'll fix some of these problems, but the force called to me.

Not even worth keeping for the collection. Expensive trash. I wanted to like it but after 3 days of very few successful levitations I wanted to smash it. Returned before I broke $230.

THATS NO MOON!!!

Yup, thats the Bluetooth name for this little dude on my phone now. I LOVE it!

Cons? Its a bit pricey, but youre paying for the novelty as well as magnetic floaty glowiness, right? The outside is plastic and printed on, but it looks fine. It almost looked like it had a bit of dimension in pics and videos, but the size made that deceiving. It still looks cool tho! Its also not very loud, but I can hear the music in every point of my apartment so it spreads nicely.

Pros! Getting it to float wasnt as hard as I thought. I think many people are trying to "place" it over the magnet, but if you cup the speaker underneath like begging hands on the sides, the "pull" wont knock it into the surface. This way you can find the floating point well. It took me less than 90secs to find the spot. I could even stop the rotation and turn it off and on without knocking it off the floating spot. The sound is very clear, and songs with varied instruments and spread orchestration come out very well. The lighting is nifty, nothing to write home about, but a great effect.

I am very happy with this purchase. It even has 2 little USB charging ports so you charge your phone nearby if needed. Not bad!

Also, you can make calls using it! I have the other iHome Death Star bluetooth speaker, and not only does it only work as "media" (no calls), but it also is incompatible with my S6 because its bluetooth 2.0 and down. THIS one works and I've been listening to it for a couple of hours.

I am tempted to always leave it floating... whether its on or not. Such a cool item!!! I would probably leave 4 1/2 Stars honestly, but....close enough!!!!
***UPDATE*** So I took it off levitation last night to charge fully after using it for a few hours. Since then it has been nothing but a chore getting it back on. I was successful once, and wondered if I could charge the speaker with the base while it rotates, taking away a big reason to ever even take it off.
***UPDATE*** I have gotten it on at least 5 times today now. Its not easy at all, so moving to 4 Stars, but it has gotten easier, so...yeh. Its true, if you have trouble getting it on and the base heats up, stop, unplug the base for 5-10min (or until it cools), then plug it BACK in for 5-10min (resets the field, I guess the heat destabilizes it a bit) and THEN try again. This has worked best for me, with my pinkies under the speaker to keep it raised instead of jamming onto the surface. Little movements back and forth for a minute or two, has worked several times now. Keeping it!

It's actually pretty good. Good sound, good battery life, levitates... everything as advertised... except, 1 week after i bought it it doesn't propperly work anymore.

Once i get it to levitate it just holds for a few minutes at most before sticking to the base. A deal-killer.

What I have read almost made me not buy this product. I would have missed out on an amazing product and what is becoming a collectors item for sure . Very easy to levitate but you need to follow directions .

The ball kept "falling off". Made sure no metal, etc around it. Dissapointing.

I was slightly apprehensive ordering this as a present for my favourite Star Wars fan, but it certainly delighted her. The sound out of the speaker exceeded my expectations - it was never going to be as good as my B&O speaker but it definitely puts out a listenable sound. It floats! It spins! It lights up! What's not to like! If, like me, you're outside the US, don't forget to get a US/local mains adapter.

Cool idea, but.....
by Rene P (2 out of 5 stars)

Really difficult to line it up to levitate. Have to get it exact. Very frustrating. And when/if u finally do, it can only stay like that for about an hour, otherwise it heats up too much...according to the instructions. It was a cool idea, but I ended up returning it. It turned into an expensive paperweight for me.
