Product Description

Each ceramic Plant Nanny Stake is specially designed to release just the right amount of moisture into the soil. You create the water reservoir by cutting the base off of a 1-2 liter plastic bottle and attaching it the terracotta stake. As the soil begins to dry, the device slowly releases more water (through gravity/diffusion). The Easy-Fill Garden Watering Stake improves the effectiveness of garden watering by releasing water at root level, thereby promoting optimum growth with reduced watering.

Features

  • Fill stakes quickly with garden hose or watering can
  • For regions with water shortage issues, this is an effective way to control & monitor water usage
  • Even where water usage is not a concern, the garden stakes have value because they help plants grow hardier root systems and promote bountiful harvests
  • These stakes great for container gardens where drying out is a constant threat
  • See at a distance when plants need to be watered and easily refill the water reservoir with a hose or watering can

You still have to fill them.

These may be better for indoor plants. I had them outside for the summer and although they help - a regular watering is more appreciated by the plants.

Great product - waters well

I've been using these with 2L soda bottles (just as suggested on the package) to water my large deck planters. Once my vegetable garden gets going this summer, I'll definitely be using them to help keep my vegetable plants watered properly. Once I cut the base off the soda bottle as instructed (I've been using a Coke bottle and a Pepsi bottle), the reservoir took about 1.75L of water. Great concept, and will definitely try the other Plant Nanny products!

Mulched my tomatoes with plastic to avoid blight, These worked beautifully to water them during this dry summer. I've had the best tomatoes in years! Two plants of the same species planted on the same date using these are twice as full and much heavier bearing than two without.

Leaky Seals

I bought these in 2016 and they worked great. In 2017, I purchased them again and 3 of the 6 had bad silicon seals which causes all of the water to immediately run out of the attached 1 liter bottle. The smaller Plant Nanny Watering Stakes, that you attach a 16oz bottle too, are much more reliable.

Helps with the watering

I love the concept of these. And they have worked pretty well. I did have an issue but contacted the company and they helped me right away. The stakes themselves are fairly large so they would take up a lot of room in a small pot especially if you use a 2 liter bottle. I am using them in outdoor pots @ 18" in diameter for tomato plants . I would try them again next year.

Pre-anticipated Review I haven't bought yet. I'm wondering if they all need a water container added to their tops or if they can be filled individually and used in indoor containers. I was hoping to use 3 or 4 in a large pottery container. I wanted to discreetly cover their tops with a faux rock.
