Monster Rejects is a ridiculous card game where monsters battle in four different realms for supremacy. The game is quick to learn and contains elements of Crazy 8's and Uno with evil twists.

WARNING:

Add The Battle Pack Expansion to give your Monster weapons, curses, potions and more strategic items!

Leaves much to be desired

The physical quality is excellent. The construction is great and the art is phenomenal. The game play seems like it could be fun...if the instructions were clearer. Many situations arose during our first two games that were not covered in the instructions, and they greatly affected game play, slowing it down and taking the fun out of it. I'm holding on to the game in hopes the manufacturer puts an improved instruction book on their website in the future. Until that happens, this game won't get any play time in our home.

Easy & Familiar Game, Hilarious Cards
by Rachael L. (5 out of 5 stars)

I purchased this game for a game night with friends in their late 20s and 30s. It worked great to fill some time after playing a longer game.

The game is simple and does play quite a bit like Uno. In order to play a card on the pile, the color or number must match the card on top. Wild cards are replaced with "Chaos cards" that detail different actions. The instructions include a "Quick Start," which can get the game rolling without turning a page.

The characters on the cards are funny-the name, the drawings, and the captions. NSFW does definitely apply.

To add a little bit of complexity, I would recommend adding the expansion pack. The expansion pack adds additional Chaos cards, making the game increasingly unpredictable.

Overall, it's a simple and quick game with a familiar feel. I would recommend it for a light-hearted part of game night.

Its the game that never ends
by RubyQ (1 out of 5 stars)

I really tried to like this game I really did. I was very excited for it as well. We played as instructed and the game never ended. The novelty wore off very quickly after playing for 2 hours! I think if I played it as if it was UNO it might be more fun but then I may as well just play UNO.

Victory is dull.

The quality of the materials is good without question. The instructions however leave much to the imagination and confusion. We started and restarted once we in countered several situations that were not clearly covered. Also, some of the chaos cards that are reshuffled into play make it impossible for the game to end. The game without and became nearly annoying. When someone finally did win there was more relief than victory and defeat. Not exactly my ideal way to end a game.

Once you get to the game it's a lot of fun if you like card games

The cards themselves are a party just reading them all. Once you get to the game it's a lot of fun if you like card games. A little bit uno a little bit sabotage. The NSFW are the cards themselves and not the game play. We've enjoyed playing with family. The cards are inappropriate and not for children.

A simple game for terrible people.

Your kids could play this game, but I don't think you want to explain what's on the cards to them. Monster Misfits is the safer version for kids, though still not Hello Kitty nice. Play is not complex and is based on what is roughly an Uno mechanic. Chaos cards can change the mechanics of the game and add an interesting twist to the play.

It's kinda like uno with garbage pail kids.

Durability Issues
by B. Topping (3 out of 5 stars)
January 13, 2017

The cards started peeling on the corners the very first time we played it out of the box.

The game itself is entertaining and it is fun to read the captions the first time around, but there are also some balance issues with some of the chaos cards. A player can effectively sit with certain chaos cards in their hand to ensure a win when they are close to getting rid of all of their cards.

Cards look good but a little over the top going for shock ...
by DMC48 (3 out of 5 stars)

Game play can be confusing at times. Cards look good but a little over the top going for shock effect might of made it less funny, perhaps that's the "you are trying too hard" effect. Either way a good "adult" version of uno. I would recommend exploding kittens over monster rejects for a more original, still NSFW, inappropriately funny game.

Couldn't figure it out. Humor was in poor taste. Returned and got the Exploding Kittens expansion pack instead (which is awesome).
