I have owned a few espresso machines in the $150 range, and I can say emphatically they make terrible espresso.
I recently came on here, thinking I might bite the bullet and get a really nice one. I saw this and was intrigued. Once I read the reviews I had to give it a try. It came next day delivery and I tried it immediately.
I ground my beans very fine, and packed them tightly. Got my water boiling hot, and filled the reservoir. I never even looked at the directions, figured I would give it a go. This thing was simple, the pumping was effortless. The espresso was rich and I made two drinks to test, hot and cold. One was a shot poured over ice with some whole milk, it tasted like it came from a legit cafe. Second was hot, and I poured in some foamed milk, again it was exceptional.
I read reviews talking about it being hard to clean or messy. If you have a sink, I believe everyone does, than it is as easy as rinsing the filter cup and starting over. This thing is a game changer.
Amazing and Easy to Use! And Vendor is awesome.

Just received this product today. I have many different medians at my disposal for making coffee and espresso. And by far this is the easiest to setup, use, and cleanup. It makes a well rounded cup full of flavor. I am no espresso expert, but in my opinion this is amazing. It even has instructions for how to use the device to froth milk! Great for traveling, camping, or just around the house.
I do have some concerns:
There is no seal between the hot water containment reservoir and lid, I feel if the unit is accidentally knocked over, boiling water could leak out. So as long as you are not waving the unit around with boiling water like a mad-person. *common sense* this shouldn't be a problem.
Overall this is an amazing product!
*UPDATE*
The supplier did reach out via email, they addressed my concern(s) and said they have relayed my suggestions to product development team. This may not mean much, but to me it further emphasized their commitment to a quality of both product and consumer relationship.
I am very glad to have bought it

If you were like me to have at least two espresso drinks per day and you happen to use nespresso capsules, I would strongly recommend the STARESSO to you. It makes very good espresso which I did not anticipate.
Pros:
1. It is mostly made of plastic, but the build quality looks good.
2. Highly modular. Very easy to disassemble and rinse it. Actually I can just held the top part and push the valve to make espresso with my favorite mug. Also I think a modular design makes it easy to repair. In principle, one can switch a broken piece with a new one without throwing away the whole espresso maker.
3. Compatible with nespresso capsules. I didn't know this feature until I saw the instruction. For me it is super useful because I have a set of nespresso machine and foam maker. I used to take my nespresso with me if I am going to somewhere for more than two weeks. Now I am happy to leave my nespresso at home and put my STARESSO in my backpack. And no need to worry if I got enough capsules when traveling because I can alway use regular coffee powder.
Cons:
I don't have any complaints at the moment, because it meets all my requirements and it does surprise me for being compatible with nespresso. If you really want to hear one, the cleaning process takes a bit longer than my nespresso. But every non-capsule espresso machine has a similar problem.
Great but messy

This makes legit espresso pretty easily considering i have only home-roasted beans and a Baratza Encore. after three attempts and only trying espresso from legit coffee shops, i was pulling shots that taste in the same ballpark. you aren't going to shove much more than 10g of coffee into this thing, and thelittle basket is kind of a pain to clean, but the results are very good. i use 10g coffee and about 38 grams water. i give it a few pumps until i feel the resistance, wait 35 seconds and push the rest. i'm super impressed with the quality drink that comes out... there is no doubt whether this is "real" espresso or not, and considering my modest equipment i think the results are super consistent. espresso home setups for the real afficianados tend to be overkill with ridiculously expensive grinders and machines, but this gets you super close for relative peanuts cost wise.
i wouldn't put milk into it, so frothing your own milk may be kind of a pain as welll, but again, you're doing real espresso (for one) for $50 so i won't complain. i'm using my Baratza at the finest setting and i think any finer would probably clog up a bit or end up with a difficult to pump shot.
only downfall is the basket is quite a pain to clean. there's no good way to do it that i can figure, other than scooping out the grounds with a spoon into your trash. this might be difficult to serve more than a couple guests, but not any worse than most single-use pourover kits or aeropress. even a french press or chemex isn't making enough coffee to really serve for more than 3-4 people.

I'm really impressed with this simple little espresso maker. I have it for only a few days (many cups had been made though) so I can't really comment on the durability. All I know at this point is it made good espresso in little time and cleaning was a breeze as well. It took some effort to pump (for me who's out of shape) but only a few pumps required. The pump can be used as a milk frother but didn't work as well as my Aero latte (which I have for years! This milk frother last FOREVER) I made Latte at home in less than 5 minutes, shorter than the time Driving to Starbucks and standing in line.

I bought this for my dad. He's not good at technology and I was looking for something that's intuitive and easy. He loved it! It's portable so he could carry it around easily and the process is very simple.

Quite compact stuff. My colleague tried several times in company and he thinks it is quite suitable for outside camping therefore i just gave it to him as an gift. Several points may be helpful for use based on my experience: 1. put just a small cup of water should be mch enough to give you just a cup of coffee, because the extra water will be useless. 2.put a big of coffee should be enough which will make the coffee taste good enough. 3. about cleaning, i just use water to flush it over and after that it seems quite clean for next time use. Overall, it is good stuff worth to buy based on its price.
It just like a coffee machine does!

I do like the fact that this appears to be built to last. The only dislikes are the fact that the cleanup is messy with the coffee grids and the amount of pumping needed. These are all outweighed by the fact that I don't need electricity and I can put it in my pocket. It produces a quality espresso with plenty of foam. I am weird. I don't like to wait for it to cool so I pour my espresso shots over ice. Then I slam it down like a alcohol shot. I recently too it traveling with me. Very easy to use. Only thing traveling was I also brought my own ground coffee and it spilled in my suitcase. Again, the positives outweigh that. I am considering getting a second as a backup. Even though the quality of the product makes me think I won't need the backup for a very long time. Maybe I will give this a present for Christmas.

*Revised 7/8/2019 Ownership of 9 months. The top for the espresso stand holder that holds the Staresso over the glass broke without reason other than normal use. Star reduction of 2 as I don't know how much longer the stand can be used before it's completely broken. My guess is the materials were weak.*
Moka Pot - Check!, Two Automatic Espresso Machines - Check!, Staresso - Check!
Honestly its the taste that matters, this no matter how you use it will taste better than anything. Before you make anything in it i highly recommend you fill it with HOT water, even the glass and let everything warm up. Even the Pump stem can be warmed up in the glass by pumping it 10 times or so. Also cleans it out perfectly as well. This pre warming of all parts before you actually make your espresso will double the taste...thats right. 100% higher taste profile, but even without warming up the luke warm espresso is still better than any other machine I've ever tried. If you love the taste of real espresso you need this. Nothing tastes better. Dare you to take the staresso challenge.
