Not for DSLR

I'm sure it would work for gopros and things like that. But it does NOT work for dslr cameras to adapt an external mic. I have a canon t5 and it doesn't work. If you want this adapter for a dslr, do not buy it because you WILL end up returning it.

Does NOT Turn Off GoPro Internal Mic

It fit and worked, but it does NOT turn off the GoPro internal mic. Instead, it adds sounds from additional microphones. After being disappointed that the GoPro internal mic was still active, I did some research and the only way to use an external mic ONLY on a GoPro is to buy THEIR $20 adapter. It has to do with the number of wires inside the cable. GoPro (from what I could find as of this date) does not have an option to turn off the internal mic without using their specific adapter.

This will make a big difference if you are trying to get rid of wind noise by using an external mic. I used the Onvian cable while on the track in my car. I have a special mic that worked great with a different camera, but with this cable and the GoPro, I still got a lot of wind noise from the GoPro internal mic.

After writing this review, I was contacted by Onvian. They offered to refund the purchase because it did not meet my needs. I'm upgrading my review because of their attentive customer service. Hopefully, there will be something to indicate that it will not turn off the GoPro internal mic so others don't have the same issue.

I asked the question whether this cable would work for my Canon EOS D70, and I got two answers with "yes". So I ordered the cable. The shipping was fast with prime and I got an additional email from the seller checking in with me which was nice. HOwever, the cable is not transferring the audio thru the mini USB on my camera. So it's not working for what I intended it to use :-(

Does NOT work with GoPro!!! Don't buy if planning to use for GoPro mic adapter

I bought this item because it was advertised as working on a GoPro 3+ (the model I own) and was excited to use it to allow for my recording clear audio directly from my headset while flying. Unfortunately, it does not function correctly. It does FIT the GoPro port, but it is missing an additional resistor built in and a specific number of pins to actually have the GoPro's computer switch the input selector. This can only be done automatically by the device and isn't a setting option so only certain cables are appropriate. Obviously GoPro has one such cable that is ridiculously overpriced, but there are some on Amazon that do work. Well I know of one anyway, as purchasing that cable was my next attempt to make my headset plan work. The other third-part cable does have the device switch audio input from its built-in mic to the external input. I was disappointed by the outcome of this cable and then again when I discovered there is an additional return fee on shipping. The shipping cost would net me about $.99 worth or a refund, so I just ate my losses and bought a different cable elsewhere. Now the adapter DOES work in general, but it DOES NOT work on GoPro products as advertised. So if your plan doesn't involve the use of a GoPro, it may work for you. But those dice are for you to roll. Hope this helps you.

This will not work as an external mic adapter for the Go Pro Hero 4. Apparently you need the actual Go Pro branded cable in order for the camera to properly switch to using an external mic.

I got this to adapt a wireless lavalier mic to my SJ6 Legend camera. It worked for a few hours, and then nothing. Pity, it should have worked... I get nothing out of it now...

Unfortunately I had to return this. It does work very well but the camera I bought it for did not. If you're buying this as an adapter for an external microphone for a PO unfortunately I had to return this. It does work very well but the camera I bought it for did not. If you're buying this as an adapter for an external microphone for a Canon EOS rebel T6 do not make the purchase. It does not work.
