The only cooler you need, well done!
by Brian L (5 out of 5 stars)

First off, I was very skeptical about the price but I really wanted something better than towing a full or midsize cooler in an inflatable (popable) tube. My last trip was a disaster, ask my friend lol. My tube got caught on a tree, popped and down I went. Funny, but I'm done with that. Anyways, I did my research on it and learned why it cost so much. The pictures online do not do it justice for how big this actually is. It's an all terrain full size cooler! 30 cans and 20 lbs of ice is what it says. Plus it is double walled and insulated. The lid screws on and can be a little difficult to put on but not too bad. Im surprised they don't advertise this as all terrain instead of just for kayaking. I'm taking this everywhere; kayaking, camping, to the beach, etc. It is very rugged. It has a flag holder on the back which also acts to secure the lid by a rope. I didnt much care to put a flag on it and wondered what I could do with this awkward post that sticks up. Well, I just happened to have a waterproof/Bluetooth speaker i take with me that has a standard camera screw mount and that post is hollow and perfect to screw in a 1/4 in. 20 tpi shaft to mount it or a camera if you wanted. The only downfall is the price is steep but i plan on getting my moneys worth out of it. It is very well made and will get lots of use. Well done.

This thing is FANTASTIC. I do wish it had a dedicated hole ...

This thing is FANTASTIC. I do wish it had a dedicated hole to attach a rope to it, instead of having to attach to the handle. But its not a big deal. I have yet to use it in very hot temperatures, but it worked great in 60's-70's and the ice lasted for the entire three day trip. It floats very well even when its fully stocked. You will feel it slightly when pulling behind your canoe or kayak. but if you tie it close it will prevent it from swinging around too much behind you.

Don't tie it like you see in the pics unless you love work.

Absolutely love this cooler used it for dry storage for a three day kayak trip work perfectly it's one flaw do not tie it like you see in the pictures and less you just want to cause a ton of drag on your boat. You want this thing kissing your tail end the whole time for easy cruising. Yes now it can't float up next to you but I wanna meet the guy/girl that can open this while sitting in there boat get stuff out then twist this lid back on. That's why I give it four stars. I will upload pics later of how I tied it to my kayak for the best results.

Very solid. Holds a lot, dry or wet.

Arrived very quickly. Very solid and well built. The only complaint I have is, when it arrived, it stinks to high heaven. Probably something related to manufacturing, and I don't know how long it will take for that smell to get all the way out. I just left the top off of it for a few days and the smell went away. I don't have the problems with the lid as others have. I suspect many may be trying to control it with one hand, and I normally use two at 9 and 3 to put it on, and never with a problem.

So now I've had it a while, and I use it in Texas where the weather is quite hot. Took a 22 mile trip with it loaded with 20lbs of ice and plenty of water and some sandwich wraps in ziploc bags. Even with temps in the mid-90's for an 11 hour day in the sun, this thing ended the trip with at least 80% of the ice still frozen. I really don't need 20lbs of ice in it, and won't do that again, unless I plan on a multi-day trek with no supply line to restock ice. Of course, even then, I'd freeze my 2nd and 3rd day of water in bottles to preserve the cold for an extended period of time.

There are two things it could use. 1st, something to keep it from swimming side to side behind you. As many have mentioned, you need to keep it as close as possible, but if it had a fin on the bottom back side, that might help. Be sure to put the heavier load in the back of the cooler, else you could have bad nose-diving and serious drag. The drag is bad at best, but this makes it worse. Another thing (and I'm going to make one myself) would be to have attachments to the handles that spread out a few inches to the sides of the cooler. This would allow tying two ropes to it and then those to each side of your kayak. Haven't tried this yet, but would love to see if it helps.

Water tight through minor "rapids"! Will get much use from our family.

Used this while floating the Comal River in New Braunfels, TX. Worked flawlessly, keeping our snacks dry even after opening multiple times while on the river! Love it, and several of our party, after seeing it in use, are going to purchase their own now.

Very good for towing behind a Kayak
by Christopher Firman (5 out of 5 stars)

I purchased an inflatable cooler awhile back hoping that I could use it for towing cold drinks behind my kayak, but the amount of additional drag that it added made it particularly unsuited to such a task. I decided to pick up the Creek Kooler even though the price was a bit higher than I wanted to pay (especially after already wasting money on an inferior product), and I am extremely happy that I did.

The Creek Kooler is larger than I expected it to be. Standing at nearly 6' tall, this cooler is about as tall as my waist when stood on its end. It is a bit heavy, but I was very pleased to find that even if I load the cooler down to maximum capacity that the amount of additional drag is not extreme. I have found that securing the cooler to my kayak with an very short lash improves the experience of pulling the cooler behind my kayak, and for rivers with even a modest current the Creek Kooler is a delight to pull. Drag becomes more significant when there is no current to help push you along, and when moving against the current it becomes more extreme still, but moving even upstream is possible while towing this cooler behind your craft.

The Creek Kooler is very durable, and it is fully water-tight when the lid is properly secured (I tested this by attempting to submerge the cooler). I have taken this cooler on multiple overnight or multi-day kayaking runs, and even after pulling the Creek Kooler for over 20 miles I did not find that it significantly added to the amount of work that was required to keep my kayak moving along at a steady pace.

One other thing that I have found that I truly love about this cooler is that it tends to spark conversations with passers-by. I cannot count the number of times over the month or so that I have owned this thing which someone out on the water commented on it, or asked where I got it from.

Stays dry and holds it all

Paid $120 for this little floater and worth every penny. Water tight, stable and very well made. I will use it for multiple uses including a live well for my catch. Tried to sink it in my bath tub...impossible. I am thinking of putting a mini skeg on it to keep it tracking directly behind my Kayak. Highly recommend.

Good product
by Chris H (4 out of 5 stars)

I really like this product, however, it's getting a 4-star rating because there is quite a bit of drag while hauling behind kayaks. The level of drag is dependent on how much is packed in the cooler, of course.

I wish that it had a drain plug as well. Tipping the cooler over to let water out (while there's still stuff in it) is more of a chore than it needs to be.

Other than those two things this is a really good product
