Not good for me
by Alan (3 out of 5 stars)

Okay if I was going to give a review on the followup of this company I would give them 5 stars easy, but here are my issues with this product.
1) The instructions mention locking the skull molds, I have tried and tried to do this. I have tried with liquid, I have tried without liquid just to get the feeling of how they might lock. Some lock at various points on the mold but I have got zero to lock completely around. As they don't lock, the trays don't close correctly and don't allow for the creation of the ice skull.
2) There are no videos or visual examples on how to lock the molds. The only video I could find was how to cut a hole to fill the molds that way, but as I can't get them to lock all the way around, that won't work either. When the ice freezes the top of the mold comes up and you don't get a good skull.
3) One review mentioned that people that can't figure this out can't follow directions. I read the instructions, I searched for videos, I can't lock these things no matter what I do. I can build a computer but I can't lock skull ice molds.

Great Product

Make sure to wash the silicone molds before you use it. The instructions say to fill lower mold 2/3 full. This is 2/3 of the whole mold and not just the skull. Press the top portion in and you should have a small amount of water squirt out of the hole (not for filling). I used a paper towel to dry any additional water around the domes of the mold. After freezing twist the mold a little in each direction and the skulls come out pretty easy. First batch was cloudy, but looked good. Next batch will be done with boiled water that has cooled as it is supposed to produce clear ice. My only con is that I wish they were just a bit larger. Got me through a glass of bourbon and had a little left. Definitely does not water it down as much as smaller cubes that dissappear before your done.

I'm so disappointed with this
by Stephani (2 out of 5 stars)

I'm so disappointed with this! :( I was super excited to get it, and it makes amazing molds no doubt, but I really can't use it at all. While my other silicone molds have no issues, this creates that dreaded film every time. You can see it, smell it, and taste it. I followed instructions exactly, was very careful with cleaning it prior to use and had no luck. I tried every online tip and trick after that, and nothing has worked. I've never been able to actually use this. It's an amazing concept, and maybe I just got a defective one or something, but I'm really just not satisfied with it at all.

Great for Resin Models!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

Okay so I'm excited about these! Both the images above are also glow in the dark. Now I've used this twice now and one of the molds did rip a bit, but with resin that's to be expected after a while. It's still going to have a lot of use for me and my geek friends are loving these! I know they are for ice, but they work great for resin as well. I don't use the whole thing as that's a lot more resin to go through, but make them flat at the back. They'll be perfect for selling closer to Halloween!

Shiver me timbers that ice is a human skull!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

Narrowed my choice down to these ice skulls, some ice death stars, and a set that made ~12 cubes/spheres at a time. Skulls had most accurate and detailed product description and pictures. I can't get over how simply awesome they are. First batch tasted a bit like silicone even with thorough washing; second batch have no taste, just ice. I did another wash before the second cycle. It's a little tricky getting the 2 halves to lock together but the bottom/top molds are front/back half of skull (respectively) so even if you don't make the seal, you'll always get a perfect face or could make just the faces if you wanted.

Don't know if I would have been willing to spend the money for a 12 skull version if one existed but now that I'm making 4 skulls at a time, I'm probably going to buy at least one more. The freeze cycle is so long that I'll realistically cap out at 2 cycles per day if I do one in the morning and another in the evening. I don't think I'll be able to build much of a stockpile at 8 ice skulls/day between 2 people in Az. I would have to restructure my day to get 3+ freeze cycles and I'm not about to do that.

Fill time is about the same as normal ice trays and you don't have to worry about spilling between the sink and freezer or bumping them before they're frozen.

These are fun and add a little something to your drinks

I bought that for my birthday party. All my guests were enjoying with this skull ice cubes with their drink. Actually even one giant ice cube made to stay very cool for one cup of ice drink. It stayed well the skull shape and made my party stunning. The material is very convenient to take out each ice cube. Very soft and very easy to use it. I am very satisfied with this skull Ice Tray and I would tell to my friends to buy.

Thank you for making my party successful.

Poor seal.
by Jennie_Jump (1 out of 5 stars)
March 23, 2019

I tried filling these each of the two different ways that the instructions gave, and they leaked each time. The seal is poor and the skulls wind up coming out with pieces of ice sticking out of the sides and dented heads from where the water leaked out of the seal. I tried sealing first and then filling, which required, as per the instructions, me to cut a wider opening in the tops of the heads, and it still did not work. I'll be asking for a refund. Definitely not worth the $11.

Also, it's worth noting the poor grammar and spelling on the instructions.. whatever this company is seems pretty bootlegged.

This was the best deal for large ice skulls!
by Amazonian Male (5 out of 5 stars)

I love how easy these trays are to use in freezing up a 2&1/2 sized ice skulls! One ice cube skull is enough for most drinks. It takes one or two tries to get it just right but once you do it is very easily done with consistently equal results! I love them as do my guests and I plan to buy more as the holidays progress the neccesity! A great deal for a fun useful item! Don't get fooled by others because there are a lot of these on the market but as I said these produce a very large ice skull with ease and consistentcy

I recommend it, ice skulls are pretty cool!
by ANagengast (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this for Halloween 2017. I was very satisfied with it. Have made about 4 sets of ice skulls with it since I received it. People enjoyed having an ice skull in their drink. I have yet to try other material to mold, such as chocolate, jello or plaster for art projects, but I am certain they too would turn out well using this mold.

My only criticism would be that the mold tends to unlock when full, its hard to keep small amounts of water from spilling out as I'm walking it to the freezer. And also there's a pinhole size hole on the tops of the skull (I assume to water can be poured in as needed to fill the skulls after enclosing the mold) but the hole is way too small. More water falls out onto the mold than through that tiny hole. The top holes could be bigger, 2 or 3 times bigger would have been better.

Still, the front part of the skull is what matters, and they turn out nice, even if their top back parts are a little flat.

Fun novelty item!
by Jonathan Bonilla (5 out of 5 stars)
April 22, 2018

Greetings! I don't normally write reviews, but I'll give this a shout out. I bought this on a whim because I like cool, novelty items. Was it necessary? No. Is it cool? Actually, heck yeah!

Some people stated there were no instructions given and they couldn't figure out the try. DineAsia actually sent me an email prior to my item shipping with full instructions and links to a quick video on amazon. With that help and some trial and error, I'm already using this tray like it was nothing and my family and I love it! The skulls come out nicely and last a good amount even in room temp drinks.

For those still without instructions, here's a basic how-to:
1) clean the tray before use.
2) fill until water lies just below halfway up the base of the mold (the part where the skull outline meets the flat surface)
3) to close and secure the top mold piece, using both hands, have one cup around the skull's face on the bottom of the hold, and press upwards, while your other hand presses down on the top half of the mold until you feel little clicks like rice crispy treats around the skull. This is the securing mechanism most fret about.
4) you probably will NOT have a perfect, flat seal all around but DON'T fret! It is secured and the skull will fill the void.
5) let stand upright in freezer for approx 8 hours, then take out, bend and twist the rubber, breaking the mold and freeing the skulls, then pop the top, pull out skulls, and impress your folks!
6) rinse the mold and let air dry, rinse and repeat from step 1!

Hope this helps!
