Please review return policy before purchasing this item. Make sure that you really like or needed item prior to purchase, because the return policy is ridiculous. Return shipping of 90lbs(at your cost), plus manufacturer's 30% re-stock is ridiculous. Even though the manufacturer will honor a return of the item, the return policy is step up to keep you from return, or you will take about a 75% of purchase for the item. Not worth the hassle if your are not really sold on the item.

Yes, the assembly process is time consuming. I spent an hour last night and got 60% finished, so 40 minutes is an estimate for people very experienced with these things I guess, like, people who assemble this desk for a living or something. But personally I feel like that's not a reason to give 1/2/3 star reviews.

The desk itself is beautiful. So far it seems sturdy. I'll update my review if it falls apart or something.

The notion that some product is terrible just because you don't know how to follow basic instructions or don't have the attention span necessary to focus on something for more than 10 minutes is ridiculous.

If you think the desk looks nice, the measurements are what you're looking for, you know how to follow instructions, and aren't someone who throws a fit and tries to return a product just because it takes some time to assemble, then I recommend this desk.

Ikea furniture is easier to assemble but they're also flimsier. There are a lot of small parts to work with and glue as well but the point of that is to give the desk structural integrity and keep it from falling apart easily the way ikea furniture does. I've been buying ikea for years and got tired of throwing most of it away when moving to a new apartment so for this apartment I decided to get nicer things. Yes it takes more effort but I can already tell that it's holding together much better than the ikea desk I recently threw away.

So yes buyer beware, but that's specifically aimed at people who have no patience or basic instruction following skills.

Chemical type odor

I've had this desk for a few weeks and will be removing it from my house. The desk has a strong chemical odor when I first opened it and I was hoping it would air out. I may be hyper sensitive to this smell but starting to get headaches so its got to go.

I love it! This desk is even better than expected. Well made and sturdy. It matches an entire bedroom suit I bought. It couldn't be better. One thing is that directions say 40 minutes to put together. Maybe for someone that has put 1000 together already. it took my son in law several hours and he does this for a living. But all in all it's a great product.

BUYER BEWARE!!! This desk is delivered in over 100 pieces. If we did not read the return policy, pay for shipping 94 lbs and 30% restocking fee it would have gone back. It took over 4 hours with 2 adults to assemble. A decent product put together but there is no wood, it is made of pressed wood with contact paper over the pressed wood to make it look salvaged.
