The best camping investment I have made yet.

The ENO hammock stand is amazing. I go camping at least once per month and have become converted to the hammock lifestyle. However, not every place I go camping has trees so I began my search. This is where the ENO Nomad comes in. I still would prefer to hang in the trees, but when that is not a choice, out comes the Nomad.

Pros:
- Being able to hang a hammock anywhere you are.
- You can use the cross bar as the ridge line for your tarp
- The extra straps hanging from the ends are perfect for hanging your backpack from

Cons:
- The only con I can find with this whole setup is that it is about 16 lbs. So cannot be used for backpacking. However, If I am backpacking I am going to find someplace that has trees anyway.

Update: I have used this now about a dozen times and still love it. I have wondered why there was an extra strap hanging from each end where the hammock hangs from, but am really glad they are there. It makes hanging my gear in dry bags so easy. I haven't hung a 40 lb pack from them yet, but it would probably hold. But I can hang a small gear hammock underneath me for those kind of things. And it is really nice having the cross bar as a ridge line to hang my solar light from or to hang the tarp over me. Still the greatest piece of equipment I own.

Yes it is worth the cost.

I got the ENO Double Nest hammock for Xmas last year and have great hammock posts in my backyard. But I am now living in the road for 3 months. I tried to find something else because this stand is so pricey, u couldn't find anything truly portable so bought me this stand and I LOVE IT. It is really very quick to set up and take down and feels completely stable when I'm sitting in the hammock. When packed up, it is about double the width /circumference of a camp chairs, so it looks big but it is not hard to carry out store in our trailer or car. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Portable Hammock Stand
by Marek (5 out of 5 stars)

This is really a great hammock stand and it is very much a portable one as well. Just like other reviewers stated, it is not suitable for backpacking due to the weight and size, but it can easily fit into your trunk (or bonnet) and can be carried to the camp site or beach. It is very easy to set up, one person can do so in less then 5 minutes. The carrying bag is also very nice, looks & feels well built and has dedicated pockets for the various parts...it even came with 8 spikes. The hammock stand itself is made out of sturdy aluminum and it also looks and feels well made as well.

Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase, despite the price being $250, which is on the more expensive side; however it is well worth it. Definitely recommended that you buy one for your next camping or hiking trip, if you can't find two proper trees around that is. ;-)

This thing is over 15 lbs. .

The two stand pieces are a little close for comfort, this thing is certainly over 15 lbs closer to 30-40lbs, not good for backpacking. Would take it somewhere that's not too far from the car. Is perfect, no more days hanging out stuck looking for 2 trees. Will update on quality over time if anything happens.

Taller people might find it uncomfortable as the slack on the hammock is significant and can't be adjusted. The hammock hangs about a ft and a half to 2 feet from the anchor points.

Hammock life! love this

I have yet to take this traveling with me but I have had it set up in my backyard pretty much since I received it - having taken it down and putting back up a few times due to weather or extended work trips. Anyway it's awesome, I love it and so does my son. It's simple enough to set up, if you've ever set up a camping tent then you're golden. It's sturdy too, I will absolutely be taking this with me on any car camping trips or picnics or days to the beach.

Lightweight yet strong
by Brendan (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought two of these to use on my kayaking trips and have since used them a few times. I am absolutely in love with these stands.

For what they are they are fairly lightweight, I think they weigh around 15lbs each. Not too bad to shoulder for a not so short walk from the car to a hammocking spot, but not so light weight that you can backpack with it. The bag is a little bit bigger than I was expecting it to be. It's about the same diameter of a small golf bag and about 3/4 of the length. It's not massive, just bigger than I thought. It does fit nicely into the foot well of my Old Town Loon 106 kayak.

Setup and take down is easy, I can do it in about three minutes now.

I was a little skeptical of some of the plastic parts and while I haven't had a problem yet I'm still not 100 percent sold on them. While the bag is protective and offers some padding if you don't take care in handling it I fear that throwing it in the back of a car or into a garage could easily break one of the plastic ends of the ridge pole. Not a huge deal as it is replaceable and ENO has great customer service but you could be in for an unpleasant surprise next time you go to set up your Nomad. I've actually added some extra padding to mine to protect the ends of the ridge pole form being damaged when stored

Lastly, the video and instructions say you need to stake it down. The stakes do not offer any structural stability and are not necessary if you want to set it up on a patio or deck, HOWEVER, know that your hammock is essentially a huge sail. The stakes only purpose are to keep this thing from flying over or away in the wind, so either stake it down, weight it down or don't leave it unattended while the hammock is attached.

UPDATE: 1 year later both of these are still going strong. The plastic parts I was concerned about have not failed me. I've used these things countless times. I've thrown them in the back of my truck and shoved them into the foot well of my kayak. I've set them up in the ocean, in a river, on the side of a volcano, on rocks, in the mud and every other place imaginable. It has become a lifestyle for me. These are one of the best purchases I have ever made. The only problem I have is everyone feels the needs to come up and ask me about them. Not so fun if you're asleep on the beach somewhere.

I have used this hammock stand many times for almost a year. It sets up and comes down quickly. I have taken it on planes but had to get a suitcase long enough for it.

I have gotten a lot of use out of this stand and have transported to several different locations. I also plan to take on a flight with me when I go to Jamaica.

I have back, hip and leg pain if I sleep on a bed ( any bed). So I have been sleeping in a hammock for the last year. I had to travel for a week and was looking for a packable hammock stand. This worked out great. Only wish the ride poles were a little shorter to make it easier to pack in a suitcase.
