A great value for retro gamers!by R. Loomis (5 out of 5 stars)

I have been playing with this since Christmas and may buy one or two for backup. The buttons are a little more cheap than I prefer, and the backlit LCD display works great but can be a bit distracting as at certain angles the luminance is off for either eye, so finding that sweet spot takes a second, but it is bright and crisp and just big enough to enjoy gaming for along periods, especially since the battery lasts for a long time (I've only charged this unit about three times in the last six months). The included games are awesome and most of the hits for the console are represented here (minus the Activision library) but for those who enjoy homebrew 2600 games, once I had my SD card formatted and loaded with additional games it was a joy taking my favorite 2600 games with me wherever I wanted to get my game on. I haven't had this much fun with a portable game machine in a long time. Totally worth it.

Good concept. Some real treasures here (e.g. Missile Command). A lot of misses though. Some games play only with paddle controller, so something like Blackjack is totally useless. They do get points for being able to use an SD card to download ROMs from the Net. Not as great as I would have hoped, but still better than nothing.

I bought this used but the seller did well to make sure it was in good working condition and it was packed and sealed really good. The unit works good I've not had any issues so far and after doing a bit of research I was able to get games to download onto an sd card and play them, I'm sure there are some games that don't work well on this, but I haven't tried every game, so hopefully it won't be the ones that I'm really wanting to play. My children laughed at me because I spent most of last night playing on it, you know, being a kid again! I've really enjoyed this and am thinking about buying another for my granddaughter since she also had fun playing.

If you're of a certain age, you grew up playing the Atari 2600. This gives you that experience in the palm of your hand. It comes with a number of games built-in and can run most other games ever made for the 2600 from an SD card (plenty of forums around to tell you how to do that). The unit is light & small enough to take with you (it's the same width & thickness as a Nintendo 3DS XL but only about 2/3 the size vertically) and runs on a rechargeable battery. You can output to a TV with two caveats: the cable is NOT included and you'd need a TV/monitor with the red/yellow/white A/V style inputs. The screen's small but clear & I haven't had a problem seeing anything (because really, how much micro-detail does an Atari 2600 game have to be missed?)
Yeah, not EVERY game controls well, but think of it like this: if you were a kid in the 80s and someone told you that you could bring all your favorite Atari games with you to play on the bus, you'd have destroyed your parents' patience to have that. I'd say in this case, it's worth giving in to your inner kid and picking one up.

In 1981, eleven-year-old me wrote a letter to Atari, proposing a handheld version of the 2600 game system, complete with diagrams showing what I thought they should be able to produce. It was such a great idea, I felt, that surely they'd start making them right away, and maybe send me a free one for submitting the idea. A few weeks later, I finally got a response from them, a very nice letter explaining that the idea just wasn't feasible, given the technology of the time.
Well, it took a while, but the device I imagined is finally here, in the form of the Atgames Atari Flashback Ultimate Portable Game Player. This is what I wanted all those years ago, but even better. It comes with 60 games built in, which is great, but -- even better -- it functions as a 2600 emulator, able to play almost all of the 2600 ROMs which are readily available online. Games can be loaded onto an SD card of up to 8 GB capacity, which is more than enough to store a comprehensive collection of 2600 games. It's really just about the best thing, ever, for an Atari enthusiast.
The device charges somewhat slowly, but it runs for a long time once it's charged. My device arrived with a couple of "dead pixels" and a few small scratches on its screen, but I liked the thing too much to send it back for one in pristine condition. At an Atari forum, some users complained of scratched screens and dead pixels, stating that they returned their flawed devices for new ones. I suppose I may have received one that they had returned. A brand-new device supposedly arrives with protective plastic film over the screen and an un-charged battery. Mine had no plastic and a full charge so... possibly a unit returned by a more discerning purchaser. I don't even care about that, because it's just a great product. Thank you, At Games!

I have bought this Atari flashback portable console with 60 built in Atari games and an SD card slot for downloading extra ROM games. Its been a while since I am trying to download roms from various websites mainly Atariage.com extracting Zip files to .Bin files and saving them to the 4Gb SD card without being able to play them since the machine is not reading the content of the card.
Any advice ?

It's good because it contains an SD card slot to add games. It's also good because you can connect it to the TV and play it on the big screen.
The bad: some games are difficult to play without the Paddle Controllers. Also I'd like to see more compatibility with the downloadable games you put on the SD card. Some games don't work. I definitely recommend this item, it's fun and you can play it anywhere.

Great game unit, all games are true to the original. A quick web search will find more games that can be put on an SD card and added to it.
