A happy stomach sleeper! Not perfect but really good, and I've tried them all...
by Kate Mahoney,Top Contributor: Cooking (4 out of 5 stars)
November 21, 2018

I'm a regular international traveler and up until my most recent trip to Spain, I have been using the Skyrest inflatable travel pillow for years because neck pillows just don't do it for me. I am a stomach sleeper and I HAVE to be able to bend forward if I'm going to sleep on a plane. If you're shopping for travel pillows, chances are you've read that review. If not, go check it out to find out what I like and don't like about the skyrest. Let's just say for purposes of this review, I was looking for something better. And by better, I mean:
- Actually soft and comfortable (NOT inflatable, or with that awful synthetic crushed velvet material)
- Smaller, lighter, easier to use than skyrest
- Versatile (can be used in more than just one way)

This pillow seemed to offer all these things and more, so I bought it and gave it a try on said trip to Spain and I really liked it! It's far from perfect, but so far it's the best one I've found! Here's what I loved about it:
- SO SOFT AND COMFORTABLE!! This has the softness of a traditional neck pillow with the versatility I was looking for. The material used truly is fantastic!
- Sure it looks like a toilet seat, but you can use this pillow in so many different ways to sleep. I used it in at least 4 different ways on one flight. Some are better than others, but I love having all the options!
- The size really isn't bad as travel pillows go. I found it pretty convenient to travel with.
- While it does take a little practice to get the hang of, it doesn't take a masters degree to figure out how to use it.
- I get regular massages and love the 'face-in-hole" design of this pillow, especially because it enables me to keep my over ear noise cancelling headphones (Sennheiser PXC 550 is THE BEST) on while I sleep! WIN!

The most important thing is I ACTUALLY SLEPT FOR HOURS with this pillow WITHOUT ADDITIONAL DRUGS and that's a big deal for me on a plane! Usually I just end up looking around and resenting the crap out of everyone else who is passed out and being grouchy for 10 hours. Here are a few things I don't like so much:
- The hinges that you squeeze to adjust the angle of the pillow are not really easy to squeeze and it can be awkward making those adjustments. If you only have one hand free or happen to be missing fingers, heaven help you.
- Once the angle is set, it isn't as rigid and firm as I hoped it would be. In fact, there is quite a bit of give to it if you lay your head on it. The hinge will compress significantly under the weight of your head/body. Additionally, the pillow gets squirrely with your weight on it and wobbles from side to side. It's hard to explain but you'll certainly find out what I mean if you try it. if you put your arms in between the pillow halves like the lady in the picture, it isn't a huge deal, but still, I was hoping for a little more stability and rigidity with the hinges.
- The strap for connecting it to back of your seat would totally get in the way of the backrest screen for the person behind you on any newer planes. Fortunately I figured out a work around. Most modern planes have a bendable headrest that has wings you can position. I just looped the strap around the wings and was able to use it pretty much the same way. Still, I think the design needs to be updated since most planes these days incorporate back of seat screens and you'd have to be a total jerk to use this in the way it's intended.
- Back to the strap, there is a little plastic buckle/locking mechanism for securing the strap once you get the length you want. It's flimsy and didn't work consistently for me. On the flight home I ended up having to tie a knot instead of using it because it kept coming undone and "dropping" me on my tray table haha.

In short, there is a lot of room for improvement, but overall, this is a dang comfortable pillow and is my new go to for international travel. There is one actual (very unflattering) picture of me using it on the plane taken by a friend of mine. The rest are of my 6 year old trying it out. My favorite mode is face down on the tray table. I slept the longest this way. I hope this helps some other poor weary traveler out there! And yes, I paid full price for this!!

Great for some things but not others
by Juston Scott (4 out of 5 stars)

Good product but even with the springs in place and such it doesn't hold up the weight of your head when you're fully asleep as it just falls right back down if you have nothing between the cushions to support you (hand, arm, etc.) All the other positions and functions work well though

Good not great

This was a pretty good find, but not amazing. It's good quality but doesn't feel extremely sturdy or anything. It does hook to the airline seat by clipping into the pillow, but then it was a little annoying to have unclip it if you need to get up or if you are trying to eat or drink. I like the options it provides and I still think it's better than a standard airplane neck pillow, but it's not perfect.

Must have for Airline Flights
by Skinny Chel (5 out of 5 stars)

Used this on a flight from LAX to London. This has got to be one of the best products I have ever purchased. I'm still suffering from a rear end whiplash accident and this truly saved my neck. I was able to fall into a deep sleep for several hours and not wake up with a kinked or sore neck. I highly recommend this!

The best travel pillow ever
by Irene (5 out of 5 stars)

I travel internationally quite a lot and in every country I use it I get a different reaction. From people genuinely curious to people laughing thinking it resembles a toilet seat. As long as you have sense of humor, it's fine. You're the one who's gonna sleep better anyway. I love the front face option. You just need to try what length works for you.

I tell my friends so much about this that they jokingly say you guys should hire me to sell it!

Comfort at Last!

Can finally sleep comfortably when traveling! High-quality product. Well-constructed and made traveling much easier and way more comfortable.Love that it is adjustable. Easy to pack/carry - which is a major plus when my managing luggage and other carry-ons. Perfect gift for the traveler in your life, too. Updated review: Love the Lean In Mode, especially in a crowded airplane.

I love the idea of this but have to agree with ...

I love the idea of this but have to agree with the buyers who said that the adjustor buttons do kind of dig into your shoulders after a while. It's still the best travel pillow that I have found, as it allows you to sit mostly upright with not neck kinks after flight.

Stiff and uncomfortable
by Wandering Man (1 out of 5 stars)
August 17, 2019

I bought this to travel on a 7 hour flight to Europe and had high hopes for it. Got it, and as soon as I took it out said no thanks. The hinges can dig into your neck/skin, and the material fills cheap on the outside to me, not very plush. $50 is expensive for something you are not going to use that much, especially something that uncomfortable.

Best sleep on a long flight so far
by Robert H. Mercado (4 out of 5 stars)
October 4, 2018

I do around 4-6 long flights in a year, between 9-14 hours per flight. I have used many travel pillows, the 3 in one soft pillow, neck pillow with inflatable sides, and the JetComfy. So far the FaceCraddle was the only one that gave me a full and comfortable sleep on my last 13 hours flight to Japan. I used 3 of its five advertised positions. The one were you tie it to the head rest and use it to lead over was the best.

Cons: I would like them to work on the hinges. I think there should be a better solution. Also maybe a better quick release from the straps. A little pricey compared to other pillows, price could be more competitive

Pros: Like the many positions and options it gives you, easy to carry (other than people though it was a toilet seat), and very soft.

It's great if sleeping forwards!!
by Yong Chung (4 out of 5 stars)
July 21, 2019

I went on a long flight! It was great for sleeping forwards. As long as you keep tension on the straps; it will stay put along the top of the head rest. I slept hard, and long! Very comfortable! No problem. No hunched backs, or neck soreness.

Only complaint is; it's not for neck side sleeping. That was impossible.

I won't use it on a short flight. I think the price was a little high. I think; if the price was lower, more people would buy it. I would have brought more for my family, but it's too expensive. So I only bought 1.
