Walabot is a Wala-Flop - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Walabot does not work as advertised. It couldn't find anything in my walls. It kept on flashing "metal stud" on the screen. There aren't any metal studs. The studs are wood. I even tried it on a wall that I could walk behind and see the studs. It still didn't find anything. I was using it just like in the videos, and nothing. Customer support was very responsive by email. They recommended setting up a time for a customer support person to call me. The only times they are available are 3AM-4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Sorry, I have a job. I can't take off time during working hours for this. I'm not sure if this particular model is defective, does not perform as advertised in the videos, or is just way harder to use than shown.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. You have been warned.

Doesn't work at all like advertised

I thought after seeing the device demo'd that it was a pretty cool alternative to a studfinder. Unfortunately it doesn't work anything like what is advertised. I tested it on several walls where I knew there were studs and wires. It missed most of them. My suggestion: get a studfinder. This doesn't work. It also kills your battery. Cool concept though if they could ever get it to work.

Do not waste your time or momey on the Walbot!

The videos are very misleading! They never show the effort needed to calibrate the device (anytime it losses contact with the wall). You must hold a button on your phone, while making large consecutive circles. When it is finally callibrated, you must use a "raw" sensitivity setting that shows everything like a blobish weather map. Once you've zoned in on the right sensitivity. you switch to the simulated mode which makes certain blobs look like a stud, and other blobs look like pipes. They are not real pictures of whats behind your walls. AND, all this, without letting the phone leave the wall. If the phone comes off from contact with the wall, you must recalibrate. Then, the instructions say not to trust the image, but to drill pilot holes before drilling, really, what is the point then? Product fail. Thankfully, i was able to return mine to Amazon for a full refund. I give Amazon 5 stars, but Walbot gets only 1.

Warning Read before buying

At first I was excited to buy this product but nervous because of the negativity on the reviews. So I decided to buy walabot used for $52 (see Amazon warehouse deals). When I got it I watched a few YouTube videos how to setup and use walabot. After setup the walabot actually does as promised but in image mode it's a little glitchy showing the image sometimes lags. However in expert mode the app and walabot work much smoother and accurate in position where the wire or stud is. I think buyer's expectations were too high because of the commercial and pricing. $70 is worth Diy walabot but not $100. Hope this helps. check out reviews on YouTube like 4 easy ways to find studs video.

Buyer beware!!

Product did not work nearly as well as advertised, I gave it a chance on multiple jobs and it still has not done what is advertised at all. I would really like a refund if at all possible. I will continue to give my honest review as a contractor that has been in construction for over 13 years, and will post this on every feed I see across Facebook and Amazon.

Nope!

Broken dreams.... Walabot claims this device is compatible with all alcatel phones running android versions 5 and above. I am currently running android 6 for alcatel. Tried downloading the app with everything up to date on my device Not compatible. Didn't lose hope to find that i could download the sdk for PC and Raspberry Pi! and then...Nothing. had a return slip printed immediately after. Great idea, like the way it looks, but just a piece of plastic.

Just says pipe or wire, never lets you know where anything else is. Big let down.

waiting 5 to 10 years.

it took too long to calibrate. I cut the hole in 5 minutes.

It didn't show the inside of the wall like on the video.

I want to wait 5 to 10 years for them to come out with something

better than what they have now. I like the idea. However, it needs work ./

and thought this would work great for the early 1900's homes that I remodel
by Martin T (2 out of 5 stars)

I'm a contractor, and thought this would work great for the early 1900's homes that I remodel. Many times there are fire blocks going at angles or we just need to add something in a certain area and this devices would work great. So far, I haven't been able to get it to work, it is not recognized on my Samsung S7 Phone. I downloaded the Walabot app, glued the magnetic device to the back of my phone, I was ready to go. I have plugged in the mini usb plugs to both the Phone and Walabot the way it is described many many times. Figured it may be my phone, did an update on my phone and still nothing, the phone doesn't recognize the Walabot being plugged in. The charging cable works fine. Another strange thing happened to my phone also, and I thought it had something to do with the update that I had just completed. I use wireless chargers in my office, at home, and in my work vehicle, all of a sudden none of them are working. For the past week, I've had to manually plug in my phone to charge. Something dawned on me today, the Magnet for the Walabot was still glued to the back of my phone, so I pulled it off. Wala!!! The Wireless Charging works again, so if you do use wireless charging, I would not recommend sticking the Walabot Magnet to the back of your phone. They should have designed some sort of phone clamp, kind like what you see for Car Phone Holders, that is already permanently fixed to the Walabot device that would hold the phone while using, This is my idea, I will accept royalties.

I'm not giving up, I do think once I get this device to work it should be a great asset to my business, considering I cut into walls, literally, on a daily basis and this would definitely help reduce on the guessing game of where the studs are or if there is a big drain pipe right in the area where I need to stick a box...

I have contacted the Walabot company, and replied back to them, waiting on 2nd response.

Keeping my fingers crossed.... Will repost with an update as soon as there's one...

Would love to leave a review of how the product works but unfortunately it will not work on ANY Motorola phone and ANY LG phone, not merely the Moto or LG G4. Seems they have to expand that list.
