Way too expensive for what it is. Does not perform as advertised.by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

Major pain to get the seeds to stick to the terra cotta. I don't know if it's the shape of this particular one or if it's the material they use when cranking these things out for 10 cents a piece in China. I followed the directions to the letter and now I'm so frustrated I'm saying some very NON- Bob Ross things! I bought two, and if they were only 5 bucks apiece I wouldn't be so angry, but $21.00?! Save your money!

Super cute! Got it for a gift for my sister. She started the process on a Monday and it has already sprouted on that Friday!

I love all things Bob Ross, so imagine my thrill when I came across this Bob Ross chia, um, thing. I mean, who wouldn't want their very own miniature Bob Ross immortalized in terra-cotta? And it even looks enough like Bob to be recognizable, especially when he's in full bloom. The seeds sprout and grow as expected, and so it does what it's purported to do. So why three stars instead of more? It leaks. You see, Bob Ross is hollow and you fill his entire head with water, topping it off daily via a hole in the back (to be perfectly clear, I'm talking about the Bob Ross chia thing, not the real Bob Ross. The real Bob Ross is now a happy little tree somewhere.) It comes with a shallow plastic drip tray, as seepage is to be expected, but this one leaks it's entire volume of water and will easily overflow the drip tray if you don't empty it twice daily (or buy a deeper drip tray). When I inquired with the company, they said such a volume of leakage suggested a defect, and they graciously offered to send me a replacement. And that one leaks too, alas. And so now I have two incontinent Bob Ross chia things in my house. This is clearly a case where two Bob Ross's aren't better than one.

I love Bob Ross, so naturally I wanted this Chia Pet. A fun novelty item but very messy. You're supposed to fill it will water to keep the seeds moist, but all the water runs right out and can't be held by the tiny little tray. I keep it in a fish bowl and spray the outside to keep the Chia plants moist.

This was a middle of the night impulse buy and I regret nothing! Bob Ross, rest his pure and shining soul, will always have a place in my life. The terracotta is well made, nice and smooth. The chia seeds are plentiful, enough for multiple crops and the instructions are helpful. The seeds are fresh and sprouted immediately. 100% pleased.
This was a fun gift- I really enjoyed it.

My husband got this for me for Christmas because Bob Ross use to come to Muncie, IN to film his painting show there and He knew I was a fan of his fro. It took several days for the thing to sprout. The top of his head was the hardest to grow, but it did grow in well once it sprouted. I tried keeping it filled with water but a lot of it leaked out into the tray everyday so you have to mess a couple times a day with watering it. I was wondering if it would be safe if birds ate the sprouts but there was no information on the website if the sprouts were safe. One person told me the terra cotta pots sometimes were high in lead but I never found out if that was true or urban legend. Anyway My bird didn't eat it. I've replanted the sprouts a few times. It's a cool chia pet! I suggest that you purchase chia seeds from your local health food store. They grow much faster than the seeds that came in the kit!

Why get a hedgehog chia pet when you can get a Bob Ross one? No contest, this is the best money i've spent all year. The dimensions in the description are accurate, but I was still a little surprised by how petite Bob Ross was upon unboxing him. *When mixing your seeds make sure it's a thick viscosity prior to painting the goo on his ‘fro, otherwise before it will slide down onto his face & shoulders & he'll end up growing sprouts where you may not have wanted them.*
