... initially announced that it would use a teleporting mechanic like some other vr titlesby william cronin (5 out of 5 stars)

I was incredibly skeptical of this game when they initially announced that it would use a teleporting mechanic like some other vr titles. I thought it would absolutely destroy the flow of gameplay that I expect out of Doom. However the teleporting only changes the jump mechanic, but all other movement works just like you'd expect. This is great, fast-paced action that adds a fun expansion to the familiar locations of the 2016 game. Though the game isn't entirely as deep, it still has all the massive enemies, crazy weapons, and explosive combat. One warning: the gameplay is JUST AS FAST and hectic as the 2016 game, and in vr that means it can be really easy to end up feeling motion sick
Solid AAA VFR game

I should state I'm one of those people that don't get motion sickness, so I play with every comfort setting turned off in full locomotion with the aim controller. I have a base PS4 and this game looks great for a PS4 VR game. It's outdated tech I get that and when my brain gets to the point of not thinking about the graphics and about the experience of having demon running straight at me guns blazing, I still get the chills.
Also I hate teleportation and click turning, it takes me out of the experience making me annoyed about looking around, but this game uses tele-frag which is basically teleporting that kills and with full locomotion it become a game mechanic instead of a crutch and the action become addictive with each body slam.
Doom VFR uses 3 controller types and really they all have weird issues:
DS4 - gives all the features but both of the guns are locked to where you look making it feel like you have T-rex hands glues to your face.
Move controller - doesn't have full locomotion so plan to be teleporting everywhere, but it does have complete control over the two guns.
Aim controller - (which is how I play) has pull locomotion, but one gun is locked to where you look while the primary is tied to the aim controller. The precision is awesome though and picking off head shots is quite easy.
They all have their issues but after I got into the swing of things killing demons become almost second nature.
The Story: Is nothing to write home about and honesty I don't fully understand it or care too, but it's not a story driven game, it's an arcade shooter, with each level having hidden items, secrets and challenges. An easy way to kill 20 mins running into my favorite level looking to beat my previous time or score.
In conclusion I think if this game had a higher price tag I might be hesitant on scoring it so well, but 30$ for a game that looks this good, and plays this well on our 4 year old console is a marvel all in it's own right. I've always hate Bethesda, but they are supporting VR, single player shooters, and the Switch with solid content right now which is making slightly come around for them.
Good VR experience with some control scheme issues

Doom VFR is an incredibly immersive experience for the psvr and plays very similar to doom 2016 with some changes to game mechanics. With this game you are offered three different controller options. You can either use the PlayStation move controllers, the new ps aim controller or the ps4 dual shock controller. All options are good, though the move controls take some getting use to and the button configuration for turning is very backwards. It makes me wonder why Bethesda couldn't have had controls similar to those for SkyrimVR, which are perfect and make the move controls the absolute best option for that game. Unfortunately, since you can't customize the move controls, your turning options are extremely awkward and while you can turn completely around, this is not ideal for a corded headset, as you will find yourself tangled in cords. Once VR headsets go wireless, it will alleviated some the issue found here. Because of this issue, your best options are the aim controller or the dual shock. I ended up preferring the dual shock for this game since it makes the game play feel very similar to doom 2016 and you can easily turn, though I will say aiming with the aim controller or move controllers feels incredibly realistic in this game.
VR motion is good, but I'd expect those that are susceptible to motion sickness to be affected by this game and have a need for frequent breaks mainly because of the extreme fast pace and if you opt to use smooth locomotion instead of the teleportation mechanic for movement. Overall an incredibly fun game with great visuals and an incredibly addicting experience. Most people should be able to fully complete this game in about 4 hours, but considering the price for entry and that this has been marketed as an experience not a full game, that's not all bad. If you played doom 2016 and liked it and don't get motion sickness very easily, you will love this. For anyone who is a die hard doom fan, you have to give it a try.
It's like that but imagine being even closer to the gore

Vr is a fad I've been privy to since the start! Have you played the new reboot? It's like that but imagine being even closer to the gore! The game keeps it's fast pace, but has some controls that take getting used to!
Since it's a new platform I can't judge to hard, because a lot of the controls come down to the limitation of accuracy of the move controllers, a known issue.
With that being said they have three different control methods! (Your standard controller, aim controller, and PlayStation move controller!)
Gameplay: very engaging like the reboot, campaign is short, but very fulfilling! Lots of game modes keep the game interesting for he price point!
I was excited to give this new platform a chance with a game that's essentially built for the FPS setup!
Fun but disappointing use of VR gun pheripheral

Game is obviously very "Doom", the enemies are all back, same locations as the main game, the action is high pace and explosive. It's a little shorter than I would like compared to the regular game but it works.
Would definitely not recommend using the PSVR Gun controller, the game plays out with both hands in front of you, with one hand always holding a gun and the other with a grenade, so when you're holding the two-handed controller you get a very weird disconnect which destroys the VR experience.
Fun VR Shooter!

I am an old school Doom fan so when I saw this coming for PSVR I had to pre-order. I really enjoyed it. Had to tweak the motion controls a bit to avoid getting nauseated but that's typical for most VR games. Playing with the VR gun makes this a blast! Only complaint as is with most VR games, the campaign is too short. Left me hungry for more but still had a great time playing and if you like blasting everything in sight, there is high replay value here. It might be short, but I never get tired of blowing creatures into an oblivion.

My first Doom game. It was really fun with the Aim controller and a very immersive and intense experience overall. Highly recommended for PSVR owners.
A "Top 5" PSVR game for 2017

This is one of the best PSVR games out right now. The graphics are clean and vivid and the demons look insane "in person." Doom VFR is one of the few vr games I can play with smooth turning turned on, even with the fast pace of the game. DO NOT listen to the one star reviews about bad controls. They are complaining about the set up for the move controllers only (which I will agree I didn't like), but the game has two other control schemes. If you play with a dualshock 4 you get full control and it feels great.
Fast pace, awesome graphics, immersive experience

After a number of ps4 updates I was finally able to play. Slow at first to get use to the teleport and side step movements but afterwards it's so much better than moving your character in the direction your facing. I'm glad I at least had the motion controllers but I wish I had the aim gun controller for maximum experience. Be ready to jump out of your skin. Make sure you are alone while playing because if someone taps you while you are playing you will probably die or have a heart attack.
Major Disappointment

Was a major letdown. Was hoping for a better version of my childhood game. But now you don't walk, you teleport from spot to spot..it's nothing but confusing screen changes. Personally, I think I am entitled of refund
