In reading all the other reviews, most of them were not very good, it took me a few days to make up my mind. I was shocked to find that the item was actually pretty cool. Nothing like what everyone else is talking about was wrong with mine. I did purchase this to be a gift for a close friend, therefore I wanted to make sure it actually worked with ease. I opened everything...note it did not come with instructions, so on the cork lid I could not understand how to get the LED to start working, says with arrows "on - off" so I popped out the whole LED from the lid to find that there is a piece of plastic between the batteries, which is nice. There was also a pull tab on the remote where the batteries are located. I played with the LED and I think...it seems that 2 batteries are shoved in this thing and it seems to work just fine with the one battery, I left it out and had no problems with that portion. The only problem I had was that the "on" button on the remote wouldn't work. I had to push any of the colors to get it to turn on. Other than that it was perfect.

Poor quality. Light is so touchy that it doesn't stay lit. Will be buying a different gift for my sister..
