Better than expected and best deal πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

This is the third bag of balls we've gotten from this company and we apparently just can't get enough. We use this with the Nerf Rival guns and it works like a dream. The coolest part about these are how amazing they glow. It is important to note that you do need to "charge them up." To do this we use a uv flashlight. Then, even in daylight, these guys glow like mad. The bag it comes with too is a nice touch too.

I found that some other foam products have a bad smell to them, but this product is HIGH quality and DOESNT come with any weird chemical smells. :)

I'm sure we'll have all the colors. Right now we have green, hot pink, and these glow in the dark ones.

Falls short, literally.

I was excited to receive this product and immediately tested out its ability to glow. I charged them up under a florescent UV Black Light. They were glowing very bright immediately, after about 5 minutes under that light I tested how long the glow lasts. They were very bright about the first minute away from the light and then held a light glow for another 15 - 20 minutes. Surprisingly the ammo held a faint glow for up to a hour+ later. It makes then extra fun while shooting and easier to find / clean up if you turn the lights off. That is about where my enthusiasm for the product stops.

I received an accurate count of 110 rounds and tested all of them twice. I noticed a wide variance in performance and decided to do a full test and categorize all of the rounds into 4 categories. To conduct my test I shot all rounds out of a Rival Kronos Blaster at a target that was 20' away. I found the following results:
13% Performed as well and Nerf Official Rival Ammo = Able to hit a 6" grouping
56% I consider usable = They hit a grouping 1' tall by about 8" wide a foot under the best performing ammo
16% Unusable = They hit the ground before making it to the target
15% Did not fire = They didn't make it out of the barrel, most could clear the barrel after a second firing and one jammed so much that I had to push it out of the barrel with a rod.

Over all having 31% unusable brought the cost per round close to what real Nerf ammo costs so there was no real savings. In the 69% that was still usable only a handful of rounds performed close Nerf original. For me this is a deal breaker because most of the fun with the Kronos is that it is accurate enough to plink small targets at about 20' indoors. This ammo makes that much less fun.

I took a chance on this product after seeing some youtube reviews rated headshot rounds as indistinguishable from Nerf rounds. Perhaps it performs differently in different blasters, but if you value accuracy I would advise against this ammo. I am very disappointed and will not be using it. If you only care to enhance some night battles by letting 100+ glow in the dark rounds fly out of an automatic blaster then perhaps these rounds will add a fun new element to your Nerf.

UPDATED Really wanted to like these... great glow, jams in most springers

TLDR:
* Glows great
* Too squishy
* Jammed in 3 of my 4 blasters*

Full review

I was looking for a good third party rival ammo option. I have Nerf fights with my kids outside semi-regularly, so lots of balls can get lost (especially in a lightly wooded area). I researched this ammo quite a bit before biting the bullet (no pun intended) and ordering. I had seen good things from YouTube Nerf reviewers about the HeadShot brand in general, though admittedly, none of them reviewed the glow-in-the-dark ammo. I thought these would be a good option. The cost for 110 rounds is super reasonable compared to the name brand stuff. Plus, the glow-in-the dark would make it easier to recover rounds with a UV flashlight over the play area after dark.

Let me first say, that these glow great! Even in the bag that these got shipped in, the balls were glowing like crazy through the shipping packaging just from sitting on the porch in the sunlight for a little while. They charge up quickly from a UV flashlight, and are generally impressive in that aspect.

However, upon pulling the balls out and handling them, it's pretty quickly obvious that they have are less dense and have a more 'squishy' feel than the name-brand ammo. Also, some of the rounds (about 10) were noticeably oblong. Not being a near-perfect sphere will affect performance.

I decided to test these out in my various Rival blasters. I only have springers, and no flywheel blasters, so I can't speak to how those work. Due to the density (squishy-ness) the balls kept jamming in my Kronos, Hypnos, and Helios blasters. They would get pinched between the magazine and the barrel of the blaster when priming. About every third round in each of these jammed badly enough that I had to completely stop and un-jam. Notably the Kronos was very hard to prime with this ammo loaded into it.

HOWEVER, these work like a charm in the Hades. Due to the rotating mechanism in the blaster when you prime, the ammo density was not an issue. Not a single ball I tried got jammed and I was able to empty a full 60 rounds without incident. I assume they would also work well in the Artemis.

UPDATE 10/8/19: These do cause malfunctions in the Hades as well. The rounds will get caught and prevent the barrel from rotating causing a misfire. I might have to prime 3 or 4 times to actually get a shot off. I'm super disappointed in this ammo.

The glow in the dark effect works pretty good, especially if you have a UV Lamp ...
by Hoeni (4 out of 5 stars)

The glow in the dark effect works pretty good, especially if you have a UV Lamp at hand (Pro tip: If you mod your Rival blaster to use a 3s Lipo, get UV LED strips that work with 12v and integrate them into the blaster for best results, the clear magazines let the UV ligth through) - you may want to pick up a cheap UV hand nail polish flashlight as it charges the balls up way faster and brighter than any other light source I tried. Of course this only works in very low light environments, or where UV light is used (think a LaserTag hall with UV lamps on and dimmed down other lights). If you use the ballsat dusk and shine a small flashlight on them for 2-3 minutes only, you will be dispappointed as glow is then rather faint.

What i do not like about the bag I received is the QA. About a quarter of the balls have a very noticeable and visble ridge on them where the two halves are molded together. Maybe this batch only, but the accuracy of a part of them is not at the level that I otherwise know from HeadShot Rival ammo in yellow that I got from friends.

What makes this ammo really useful is that if you play Rival outdoors and loost the balls in the grass - take a UV lamp, shine on grass and they POP right in sight. Makes retrieving your balls that much easier.

I haven't counted all of the balls. I assume that there are 110, as advertised, and that's fine. The bag is fine, too.

What I did notice, however, is that about 40 balls total, are extremely different from nerf brand balls - which would leave me with 70 that are imperceptibly the same as the nerf brand, which is great for this price.
20 of the aforementioned 40 are super soft. In fact, two of the super soft ones feel like they're missing chunks inside of them. It's odd. The other 20 of those are hard as a rock. The ones that are super hard are less aerodynamic, and tend to miss their mark. The light ones fly extremely fast and bounce with gusto, but I imagine a breeze would throw them way further off aim.

I'm editing my review here after actually putting these in practice rather than shooting them indoors. Outside, on a windless day, these things will curve off course after about ten feet. I could not hit a stationary target, nor could I be hit as a stationary target from well within typical operational range - light balls tend to catch a ton of air, fly way further than they should, and curve off to the left or right with an extremely sharp curve. The hard balls that I mentioned before are /okay/, but in some instances, they just dropped literally five feet away from me, as if I'd shot a rock.

The quality control is pretty questionable, really. The glow is nice, but it started to weaken in the dusk, so I'm not entirely sure we found all of the balls in the grass. The upside is that the white of these balls really stands out, so the glow isn't entirely needed.

How could you not want this?

It's rival ammo that glows... You seriously need to read reviews? Go! Buy it! Buy it now!

OK but really, they're the headshot quality you've come to love... That glows. Balls charge quickly, I charged one up in under 5 seconds with a phone flashlight.

I'm making a UV light kit for my nemesis hopper so I can charge them in game. The one weakness is they don't stay charged forever so if you're playing in the dark without a way to change them they won't glow for your whole play.

Pro: They glow, which is cool

Con: The rounds are variable in both density and size. I have a kronos and find that it is difficult to fire five consecutive rounds without the kronos jamming. The differences in density cause the rounds to fire at different speeds. The difference in size is very slight, but it is enough to cause the reloading mechanism to jam. The slightly larger rounds don't feed properly and need to be poked into place. A very rare number of rounds are large enough that they can not fit through the barrel of the kronos without a pen and a lot of effort forcing it through.

Conclusion: I really wanted to like these, but the simple fact that I can't get through an entire magazine without at least two jams makes this a non-starter. Some of the reviews claim that there's no problem, so maybe I just had bad luck with quality control. In any case, I don't think I'll try my luck with this product again.

Great glow-in-the-dark alternative to Nerf Rival at a fraction of the cost!

Not a lot to say -- these are a direct fit replacement for the Nerf Rival ammo. I find that they fly as accurately as the Nerf branded ammo at a fraction of the cost. Plus, they glow in the dark and come with a handy carrying pouch with carabiner clip! I haven't experienced any jams or issues with the quality of the balls. I definitely recommend these.

I haven't tried all 110 balls in the packet and only tried a sampling of about 20 but it was bad eno
by TC (2 out of 5 stars)

The ammo glows very well when used with a UV torchlight. However, the balls are extremely inaccurate! I loaded up my Nerf Kronos with 3 of these and 2 of the original Nerf ammo. The original ammo were spot on while the glow in the dark balls were quite a bit off what I was aiming at. Admittedly, I haven't tried all 110 balls in the packet and only tried a sampling of about 20 but it was bad enough. I would give it one star for accuracy but gave it two stars overall for the glow in the dark feature. Pretty disappointed.

Purchased one bag of the headshot rival glow ammo before and was please with its quality but... this time we purchased 2 more bags and were extremely disappointed to find 80% of the rounds unusable in any of our flywheel blasters (nemesis - Prometheus- quantum- hera etc) as unlike the first batch the rounds seem to suffer from some sort of production defect making them not even 1/4th as dense as normal rival amunition.
